I feel like Sauvage nailed (and pioneered) the idea of an “Elixir” by making something insanely strong and concentrated, to the degree rarely if ever seen in designer fragrances. Love the old school sensibilities as well.
On the flip side, most of these other brands seem to have just made a Parfum style flanker, slapped “Elixir” on the bottle and charged a fortune for it. I feel like they really missed the whole point of what Sauvage Elixir actually was…
As heavily concentrated as it is, it works in warmer weather, I live in Hawaii and it’s my daily, such a beast.
While I agree that that can be said about many of the various Elixir flankers, you'll have a hard time convincing me that Hugo Boss just stepped up the concentration of Boss Bottled and then marketed it as an Elixir. That was a whole other direction for that line
Dior is always king when it comes to flankers and concentration
YSL did exactly that, their elixir is weak and smells like a soapy mess.

Lol the bEST freshEST fragrance I've eVER smelled in mY life is from the late 80's nothing still to this day can touch it I'll give u the initials tO it its NR-C because of availability is super limited I still haven copped my bottle it was 330$ in the early 90's & that wss astronomical expensive for back in them days

The Boss Bottled Elixir is a full-on clone of Sauvage Elixir (without the licorice), which is why you liked it so much lol
Boss Bottled Elixir is the far and above winner for me.
Sauvage Elixir smells delightful, but there's no situation I can think of that necessitates that level of performance
I spray two max… and let it settle for 45-60 before venturing out. :)

@@tommydallas1394 I suppose is veers closer to Sauvage Elixir than Le Mâle Elixir. But the reality is it isn't really like either one of them. It's smoky and doesn't have much sweetness to it

Definitely JPG !! I got it for my grandson last Christmas! It was his pick ! Finally found the 4.2 ounce at Sabina in Spain ! Back then it was 100.00 plus 20. 00 shipping to USA. Bought early fall already hard to find in November! Beautiful bottle too ! Love the gold !

I got it for 60€, tester bottle 125ml from my coworker in a fragrance retail store, she got it as a bonus and sold it to me 😁
What do you prefer between JPG Elixer and Naxos? If memory serves they both have tobacco and lavander notes.. thx
One thing I will disagree with - YSL Y Elixir. I tried this & it lasted much longer than the others in the line.
In fact my cousin has this. He wears it all the time, not a lot of sprays, and it is easily detectable & smells amazing. The sillage is outstanding. In my experience, this performs much better than the other Ys - lasting at least 8-10 hours. He told me he's been getting compliments too!
It's not Sauvage Elixir in that it doesn't deviate too much from the rest of the line - but Y Elixir is dare I say, UNDERRATED.

i just think $180 for 60 mL of Y elixir is insane. to me Le Parfum is the masterpiece of that line, the rest of the line is a headache-inducing synthetic joke.
I blindbought Boss bottle Elixir from Macy's online. I got it and it reminded me D&G one Royal night. Which i already have. End up returning Boss.
Jean paul gaultier le male elixir i bought from Macy's when it cane out 4.2 for $120. Price went up.
Also bought two bottles of Dior sauvage elixir bcz they might reformulate soon.
I love Sauvage Elixer but I hate the fact some people seem to bathe in it before going into public

Great list, only one I don't get is Sauvage, to me it's the worst, I feel like only fragrance enthusiasts like it, it's too strange.
Just a quick question what were the versatilities on seasons on the top 3?
As a side note I hope they come out with a summer time elixir like a light blue elixir, I personally live in the high heat but don t have a go to banger except light blue forever and the ocassional prada luna rosa ocean edt I mix in.
Personally wasn't a fan of any of the Sauvage line after testing the EDT and EDP on both skin and paper.. Found it to be too generic and unimpressive - till you recommended the elixer line. OMFG! What a welcome iteration of the line?! It's $355 (per100ml) here in Australia, but I'm grabbing it regardless. Such a gorgeous and addictive scent!
If you haven't tried the Parfum, you've missed the best of the line (IMO)

I was so looking forward to Y Elixir and went to Macys Department store in NYC to smell it and I was like WHAT? YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME? AND $180? NO WAY. So underwhelmed and IMO so not worth it and I have an over 100 bottle collection and 3 of the 10 elixirs on this top 10. I have Clones, Designers and Niche and Y Elixir was a letdown that to be honest, even FREE I wouldnt be interested in owning it. That being said, I gotta try that Boss Bottled. Thanks Ash. Keep em coming!!!

Boss Bottled Elixir, followed by Le Male Elixir and then perhaps Dior Sauvage Elixir.
In my personal opinion my all time favorite fragrance and elixir will have to be invictus victory elixir, then Gucci guilty elixir and 1 million elixir, im fortunate enough to have all of them and i love them.
Picked up the 75ml JPG Elixir on a recent flight, for £44! I wish I had of bought 2 now.
Solid list, but I'd defo switch 1 and 2. I feel like LME, IVE and BBE are very close, basically on the same level, but Sauvage Elixir is slightly better
1: JPG le Male & Boss bottled (I keep forgetting how ridiculously fantastic they are so I’m baffled every time I spray’em!), 2: Boss the scent. 3: Dior Sauvage, but it’s everywhere so I’m hating it a little. 4: all the rest.

Gucci nailed it with Guilty Elixir. That and Boss Bottled are the only 2 Elixirs I have considered worth buying so far. Gucci is coming on my Scottish Highlands holiday this summer.

Orange aquatic? There’s only 4 notes lavender geranium frankincense and Oud. I don’t get that at all. It was the only one in store that I thought was dark and mysterious. But everyone’s skin is different and may come off different to each.

I own the top 3, I'd put in almost the same order except for me, Sauvage Elixer takes first place with LA Male coming in a very very close second.
The retail price for Y elixir is at €120 in Germany and you can get it right now at €87 from Douglas so you are getting a little ripped off in the USA.
Boss makes some great fragrances. and the fact that there are 2 of them in this list says it all..

Totally agree with le male elxir. I’ve smelled hundred of fragrances including a lot niche fragrances and le male elixir is the most addictive one. If you catch me smelling my wrist 20 times in a row that’s because I’m wearing this one

Top two I have them both and I adore them both , savage is the original and the Jean Paul Gaultier is the only one that smells better , then again savage has the ultimate performance , hmmm impossible to choose they are both great .

Interesting that most elixirs are cool weather fragrances ideal for fall and winter. In this list, the only warm weather fragrance is YSL Y Elixir.

This video was about designer elixirs. PDM is niche. And yes, Percival is great.
Le Mâle Elixir is nice enough but to me just another one of many sugary sweet modern vanilla scents, then again, the same can be said for most of these 'Elixirs' (at least the Gucci attempted something a little bit different nothing too amazing, especially for the price!). Most also feel like cash grabs at a time when even standard designer fragrances are overpriced!

Swear to baby yoda, guilty elixir smells like a cheapy i bought 12 years ego. I still have this cheapy and still works. It’s cheapy to the point it’s called Heineken with the same beer brand logo .. I believe it’s locally made not so sure. But it smells exactly to the guilty elixir I’m surprised.

Gucci Guilty Elixir is not only my favourite Elixir but one of my favourites of all time - it was love at first sniff. It gets compared to Reflection Man but to me Reflection Man, is the fresher version but is a bit more simple and designer-esque, and Reflection 45 doesn't even come close lol (doesn't project at all and has afeaux leathery feel to it)

The question remains: why do many of these designers raise the price just by adding the “Elixir “ name and make the bottle size smaller? Most of them offer nothing different from the previous flankers in terms of quality of ingredients, unique compositions or drastically longer lasting……for me I go niche all the way……forget designers.
