How to Make an Ekonting (Akonting) the Jola Way: Part 3

Lamin Village, Gambia, and then Boston, MA. Sorry about the quality. I recorded this video 15 years ago (summer of 2004) during and after my first visit to Gambia and Senegal to study the ekonting. The first half of the series (Parts 1 and 2) show Jola musicians led by Ekona Jatta making an ekonting the traditional way. I ran out of video tape (yep, I did say fifteen years ago); so most of the second half of the series is of me back home in Boston demonstrating the tying-on technique and tuning details. (Please excuse my dated hairstyle.)
