I am having a very hard time with my 10 year daughter’s 2 Tetras.
Can someone that knows please help? We bought 3 Glofish Tetras a week ago and one has already died. I don’t want the other to die!
I have them in a 3 gallon tank, with a water heater at 78F, the tank cane with a filtering system, I bought water test strips and the water is “ideal” but the only thing that worries me is the hardness because the results are “very hard” and I read everywhere its supposed to be soft.
I am also worried that I only have 2 and this video says I should have at least 5-6 but my tank is too small. Is it okay to just keep 2 in the 3 gallon tank? Could this be why the third one died?

You can breed glofish but you can't sell them. Theres a paten on it so u can go to jail if u sell them. Thats what he said
I have searched and searched, and really don't get straight answer. My tap water right out is 6.2 ppm ph, 40 alkalinity ppm, and my calcium water hardness does not even really register on the test strip. Should I raise the hardness with calcium like used for a pool or use salts that people use for cichlid tanks?
No as long they are healthy dont mess with the water parameters even with chiclids in my experience every time I mess with the water parameters it very hard to keep them.
If I mix boys and girls will they start breeding. If I don’t want them to. How do I know what is a girl or a boy?

I have glofish but for some reason they keep dying. I just returned the green and red that died and petco confirmed with my water quality that it was good. Can you talk about the glofish aggression? I think thats why I lost 3 so far. Or if they die cuz the temp is at 72 degrees maybe

Yes some are really aggressive. Right now I have a green one separated because it was creating havoc in the tank

Sir I want to keep glow fish but in my area ambient temp go max 50 C and now a days my tank water temp is 34 C here fan not work as they throw hot air and water temp increase so I try to arrange chiller or can I keep glow in 34 or 35 C without chiller.
You can try it with a school of 4 in my experience fish adapt as long is notna drastic change. 💙💙

What about 82 degrees? My heater (on minimum) keeps trying to bring the temperature up above 80 degrees. It sucks! I need to watch it like a hawk and unplug it once it’s at 80.
You can even keep it unplug during the summer
Without a heater it stays at 68 degrees. The fish seem happy too.
What really mater at the end of the days is to see that the fish are happy and healthy

Depends on what the temp of your water is now. Most likely you need a heater to maintain 75 to 80f degrees.

How many flakes should I give them?
The easiest way to know just add a few flakes wait a few minutes and see if the flakes are stil floating if everything its gone fast add some more with time you will known an averege of how much they eat.

New 37 gallon. I was told only to buy 3 and wait a week and come back and buy 3 more and repeat process. !!???
Are you familiar with the Nitrogen cycle? Because the only reason I see they told you that is because your tank is not cycle yet and trying to do a fish in cycle.
When you start a new tank for first time you need to cycle. What this mean? This mean that your tank have a beneficial bacteria that help to turn the amonia ( toxic to fish) into nitrates (less toxic) and they can be remove with water change or plant will feed of nitrates I have a really good video and I explain this with visual aids to help you learn how it works.

To answer your question I will get all the ones Im planing to get at once they are a schooling fish and we had better luck when we add all of the schooling fish at once.

@@jeremynicholson4627 If the tank is cycle I will go with 15 to 20 in a 37 Gallon. And also I will add some bottom feeders maybe 2 brittlenose plecos with some snails.

When I do Glo tetras I keep them with at least six of them, I like to always add some mystery snail 2 to 4, 6 to 8 Also some glo danio to add more color and a clown pleco or bristlenose pleco NOT THE COMUN ONE WILL GROW TO BIG FOR A 20G.

I had 4 tetra in a 20gal. They were aggressive so I added 2 more to make 6. They still fight all the time. Any suggestions?

Yeah I've done all that. Water params are perfect. There are tons of decorations..... They just mean lol
Same. My mom said its cuz I have way to much decor, but I see alot of fish like the decor so they can hide. Glofish are just rude. I tried to have them school with regular black skirts and I have lost 3 within a week due to stress I assume. Its sad.
@@tomongvue6934 I got them to calm down by adding real plants instead of plastic ones and adding a handful of neon tetra. Not sure which one or both did it, but after that they are pretty chill until feeding time.
What air pumps are recommended?
To be honest all of them are good focus on getting one proper for your tank size. Because I had manny brands and I still have no preference.

20 gallon is good enough you don't need a 29 gallon that's way too big For those Glowfish.
