To clarify some of the strikes:
The open handed palm strikes are mostly aimed at the solar plexus, just below the sternum. This style emphasizes the timing of attacks along with the combination of simultaneous movements. In most scenarios, the open handed strike is meant counter and stop opponents who charge in by hitting the solar plexus and disrupt the breathing rhythm (and purportedly the beating of the heart). Something to do with the diaphram and the collection of nerves there, but there's an eastern medical philosophy of chakras and all, so it may be vestigial intentions from that.
