"People to prove wrong" are the 4 words that best characterize my hockey journey over the past year, and my goals moving forward. See you back for Mondays video!
- Trav
Thankfully your stubborn and want to continue!
Stephanie Lowery one way to put it lol
"Berfore I die?" hahah that line killed me!!
Steve is a beauty
“Doing a lot of private lessons makes you really good at lessons.” Great quote.
Very very true as well
A great hard working sesh there. Man that guy’s a beauty... his humor during the QA and was top notch.
Try hanging out with him, even better.
Looking good man. Your puck tracking looks really, really solid, even compared to just a few videos ago. That's also news to me about goalies serving majors in college hockey lol
HOLY SHIT THE COACH GOT US WITH THE 👌
My dad started playing net when he was 16 he went on to play jr a and was on the all star team with Curtis Joseph, it’s never too late
Love Steve because he is honest about the reality of the goaltending world and hockey world in general
That’s why I keep coming back
His program worked for the Leaf's newest goalie (Jack Campbell)! He works with our kids in Port Huron once a month during the season. The players that are there once a month are getting better! As a coach, I would love to learn more and more from him. Love this series and keep up the hard work Trav!
Hes staring for all of next weeks videos as well
Keep up the hustle Trav, it's really inspiring to watch you play and work so hard, I remember watching earlier videos and you definitely have improved alot
Haha the look of surprise on that scorpion save at 2:10... priceless!
Looking good!
you two make great content man, just the right amount of humor. looking good trav keep pushing on.
Its a blast being able to hangout with Steve. Excited to do it again next month.
I see how much better you are getting in practice trav!keep up the good work. Doesn’t matter if you play hockey or not, Travs determination and grind applies to anything that you are trying to succeed in or get better at in life. Never give up and “DOMINATE”. If you are curious I played goalie for my first two seasons of hockey and played forwards for the rest of my time. I played for 9 years. Still play pick up games with friends every now and then. Men’s league season is coming up soon for my team. Definitely getting a GoPro for footage. I am a righty when writing and for football, but I am a left on hockey 🤣 great Q&A as always. I play goalie holding the stick right side.
TRAV: can you ask Steve when the last time he put the goalie gear on? Does he ever play net for fun anymore? Thanks!
It is great to be able to see your development journey and to see how much you improve with Steve. Keep up the good work. One question to Steve: When do you practice to much and it turns into overtraining? And how much should kids train in comparison with pro/senior level goalie.
This is crazy. I've been watching your videos off and on for about a year but it's surreal to see you staying (Motor Inn) right behind my work in Strathroy, eating where I eat (Clock Tower) and playing where I play pickup (London Sports Park). Small world!
Great places
@@trav4oilers Ok I'll buy it for 2/3. Did you wake up with both kidneys in the Motor Inn?
Another good video. More tips to improve my game thanks man.
Hey trav! I recently tried goaltending and really enjoyed it! I was wondering if you had any tips for a beginner!
Great coaching and honest mentoring. Trav your game is really improving and Vids terrific.
Thank you thank you sir
Coffee, Trav's new vlog, and a day off from work. Can't get any better! Keep pushing forward!
Good cup of Joe is key to the day
These videos are so inspirational thanks trav
See you for Mondays video Keiran?
Steve coached one year with the leafs and was let go. That was 15 years ago... why is he still wearing maple leafs gear? Steve has been successful doing his own thing. Wearing a memory from 15 years ago is either to sell himself in a cheesy way or he's not confident in his own brand. Not intending to be mean but let the leafs gear go and wear your brand.
It's not a crime to hate the leafs...some say it should be!
Hi Trav. Keep kicking ass. 👍🏻
2:05 damn that was nice
Hey just watched your video great video. I wish I had someone like that guy growing up when I was a goalie. He's got some good motivation.
I wish I had met him earlier but better late than never
“Is 12 too late?” (Me, starting at 15)
I started at 14
I started at 7
I started at 17
Im just now starting at 23 lol
I hope you know that your videos help people outside of hockey as well. Your determination and mind set inspires someone like me to keep pushing no matter what I face. I appreciate it
Thank you Quinten. Glad you like, see ya for Mondays video?
@@trav4oilers you betcha bottom dollar
You’ve improved so much even from the summer
the only time to think about your gear, is when you are actually having a problem with yours. like: oh slap shots hurt on my arm, or I can't control my rebounds because of my soft pads or knee rolls, pants getting caught up on my pads, etc.
Im actually getting to that point so will discuss soon
@@trav4oilers all about comfort, confidence and design that works for you. Doesn't matter what Price or whoever is using, as long as your gear is working for you, right?
His roasts are the best
So passive aggressive I love it
On that Hard Back Drill at the beginning does he want you to hard back to the post? Just wondering cuz it looks like if you don’t go to the post you run the risk of sliding out of the net into no mans land.
@@FutureProGoaltending noted!
Every time you get cut you have a fresh start kids look at it this way.
Steve, you do a lot with Goalies, and my son (who's only 9) wants to do clinics with you. Any chance you do anything for Goalie Coaches? I would love the chance to do some sessions with you and learn as much as I can from you and bring it to my goalies.
He mentions pad covers... I'm a decent level ball hockey goalie, and I just got new pads. The Brian's pad covers attach by clipping on to the leather straps. My new pads only have 2 straps, the rest is thick velcro. Do you know who makes good covers that don't need the straps to stay put?
Hey Trav do you think it is crucial to have a workout routine (whether it's through a gym or at home) and a diet plan for higher level hockey.
Not crucial but all steps that add to the big picture of getting better
Q&A: How do you analize NHL goalies games to help improve yours?
Looking good homie that foot speed is getting there.
Thank you Jay!
@@trav4oilers work on those sprits they help 5'5 ex goalie get a little better in my good days. lol
Ayyyyy you’re in London!
im looking to get new gear for next season, should i get bauer supreme s27’s or vapor x2.7’s? for my pads/glove/blocker
Vapor
"I'd rather watch a bikini Instagram" and "Before I die?" are some money quotes
I live through these quotes haha
Q&A. For Steven. Do you think Hasek would have been as successful with his style in today’s game?
My opinion is no. For several reasons.
He was fairly small.
He relied alot on reflex saves.
goalie2998 I agree with you but I don’t as well. I think he was a mental genius when it came to stopping the puck. His reads were amazing.
@@ryana3679 I agree with that.
I just think shooters today are alot different. As far as placing shots, and moving the puck .
I would love to see it though. I was a big fan back then.
Certainly alot of fun to watch.
That is a great question.
Question: how do you get from place to place? Are the trips paid for or do you pay outta your own pocket? P.s I'm always watching your vids. Love them! 👌 keep them coming.
If you watched Monday’s video you’d know ;)
All comes out of my own pocket
That save at 2:13 FIRE!
Mini Scorpion
great video
edit: keep pushing forward and maybe you'll make it to the nhl
Nope lol
Prove them wrong trav 💪🏼✅
Q&A for Steve again. In the 80s and 90s they said that the majority of goals(something like 80%) were scored in the bottom foot of the net. Is that true even in today’s game?
I think Coach misunderstood the InGoal Article, So much so that I re-read it. The way I read it, its not that Size isn't important, it's that its not AS important as it was in the early 2000's when Butterfly was really coming into the sport. If you read the article it goes to talk about head trajectory, active hands and smaller holes on smaller goalies. Size is still import, but "I think we’re at the point now where size doesn’t matter as much as it did 5-10 years ago. With [tools like] Head Trajectory, you don’t have to be that big. You can be five-foot-ten, and if you track properly, you can compete with goalies that are six-foot-five.”
And lets face it, a lot of these guys aren't as tall as they are listed.
I think it holds true in a sense. If you look at the top 10 goalies in the nhl in terms of save% (Min 10 games as of this posting) 7 out of the 10 goalies are 6'3" or under. And 3 of the 10 are 6' or under. There might not be a trend towards smaller goalies. But the trend isn't to large ones either. Its purely based on how you stop the puck
Just broke my collarbone.
A Q&A for you and your goalie coach;
How can I reduce the risk of injuries as an aging returning goalie?
Its fucking annoying getting injured all them time. 17 years since I played.
What should I do??
Don’t go on the ice, only way to GUARENTEE no injuries
trav4oilers not an option!!
FutureProGoaltending thanks for your detailed answer!
I just started playing again at age of 39, about 17 years ago since I quit.
The thing is that I get into the ”habbit of my 20s” after a couple if practices/games.
And I think my body cant handla that still... Typically I do 2-3 weeks of hockey and then I get injured.
Ive managed to pull my grions twice (once on each side), sprained my left ankle and now broken my right collarbone... All since September.
My hips ans knees hurst like hell after 2 weeks of practices (3-4 practices per week), so I am just lucky I havnt injured my hips or knees too.
I play in a leauge for retired players in Sweden, I am on the younger side but feel like I am 70 years old in terms of how often I am getting injured.
I am doing good (or ”great”) on the ice, mostly, but its so annoying (and depressing) getting injured all the time.
I finally found it back to hockey (lots of thanks to this channel), and will get back on the ice again!!
(I honestly do stretch good before ice)
Thanks again for your answer!
Let’s go trav
Q&A Get Custom Bauer Pads With The Sideline Swap Logo In It 😂😂😂
That would be good
Always wondered how much you’re paying per hour in ice time costs across the board here like for your actual ice time if alone rental of rink then maybe coaching costs
Wouldn’t be doing it without youtube
That’s insane.... I live in England where per hour ice costs are £200-350
Well there’s a genuine insight into why our game is where it is as Great Britain compared to you guys lucky enough to have the skills and facilities to hand!!
Thanks for the reply... hey trav how about more talk in the videos about the futurepro goaltending RUclips channel
You could’ve helped him hit that 1k haha
my teammate in beer league tried to fight the ref in that exact rink xD
Trav, you should go through your pre skate warm up. I have 💩 hip like you too. You move well though . How do you do it?
Will try to get the video done in the future
Where do I go to ask QA questions
Comment them right here
Scott Neidermeyer didn't learn how to skate until he was 14 yrs old. Not everyone is a natural like him but it's possible.
How come you cut the bottom of your chest pad off?
Is division 3 an option for you
It is an option but costs my friend.
U should make a video with Kane van gate
Ill pass
Does anyone know what day it is of the week because of travs videos
Monday Wednesday or Friday buddy
Go Redhawks, love and honor
And what date is this video
Videos are 3 weeks behind currently
That brookside (ice park) ice is rough :/
I actually liked it
Fu*ki* rights trav, awesome vid.
Trav isn't paying enough money for him to open the rolodex and get him on a college team.
I have the same pads as you lmao
No you dont ;)
trav4oilers I thought I did from the thumbnail i have the G4’s in blue
hey trav were do u think u will be in the next 5 years also i love ur vids
About 5 years older
@@trav4oilers lol
I believe in Trav, so he'll be proving me right!
Somebody has too
Just woke up
good morning!
Im not trying to put your confidence to zero saying this. But if u want to be professional goalie some day u need to have much more explosiveness in ur legs. It makes me feel that im wathing slow motion all the time when watching those drills.
Before u or anyone say anything I just want to point out that I was a pro goalie here at finland before my knee surgery. I know what im talking about...
Completely agree with wha you’re saying
SHAKALAKA you did something wrong if u have knee surgery lol
Good morning
Morning sunshine!
I’m trying to Make The BHL But’s it’s hard
Can you dunk and if so can i see a video of it?
LOL depends how tall the hoop is
@@trav4oilers 10ft
Trav why don't you try and go to Europe? Again I say you'd look good in Eisenbaren Berlin jersey. I think you'd have some success there.
havnt had the right opportunity yet.
Hope the leafs call you
New Vaughns next vid :p
Feb 19
day 213 of no sideline swap ads in the beginning of videos
in 2019 the Stanley Cup starter was 6'1, the AHL Calder Cup starter was 5'11, the KHL champion starter was 6'0, arguably the 3 most elite leagues on earth. 2 of the top 3 OHL goalies are currently 5'11 and 5'10. Size is non factor in todays game. It REALLY ages Keeks when he sticks to his 1998 mentality about todays goaltending position where bigger is better off. The diss on Ingoal Magazine is also pure nonsense. They have done more then this old man ever has with advice and interviews etc in todays game. Time for Travs buddy to retire, the game has moved beyond his idea of what it takes to do well at the highest levels in net. PS, the breakway drill you did Trav is basically taught to Novice aged goalies.
Trav4rangers. Go rangers
You a rangers guy eh donnie?
I don't know if it's because of your size, but your chesty doesn't look big at all! Almost like you're wearing a very padded shirt.
Im 6'5 and the chest is biggest bauer makes lol XL
Im a lefty goalie as well just lost my blocker hooke me up
Is it just me or do his leg pads seem kinda small
Personally I thought they fit perfectly for me
trav4oilers it may just be the color that’s throwing me off
you proved me wrong i thought you were bad but your very vad
Bs zamboni
TRAV: can you ask Steve when the last time he put the goalie gear on? Does he ever play net for fun anymore? Thanks!
TRAV: can you ask Steve when the last time he put the goalie gear on? Does he ever play net for fun anymore? Thanks!
I bet all the people that chirp about your 1 game in the NHL hasn't even made it to college level hockey. Fuck them.
TRAV: can you ask Steve when the last time he put the goalie gear on? Does he ever play net for fun anymore? Thanks!
I believe its be a couple years. I asked him before but cant remember
trav4oilers true true - ok, that’s interesting - would love to see him out there! Oh, and You’ve got to get your boy in one of these Q&As! Lol .... awesome videos as usual my friend, keep working! You’re time is coming!
