I'm 30 years old. I've watched gunsmoke and many other old western shows. I love the oldies songs. I love being able to understand word for word. Love feeling the emotions the singers put into the song. Love the non auto tune. Love hear the real voices. Etc etc
I'm 44 & my Dad grew up on TV Westerns & I would watch reruns with him. I agree with you completely about the actors relying on talent more than today's actors!! They were incredible & never had any of the technology in today's Hollywood!! They had great dialogue acting, great physical action acting, & like you said even the singing!! You might already watch it but if you haven't the TV Western called The Virginian is my favorite of all the old Westerns, if ya haven't seen it you might want to check it out!! The 2 main actors were both life long real ranch cowboys & at least one maybe both were also rodeo cowboys, they were also legit best friends until their deaths!!! It's a hell of a Western!!!
I will always love " Festus. " Ken Curtis has a magnificent voice. Rest in Peace Mr. Curtis . You have brought much Joy to my life...and the world..❤❤❤❤❤❤
I enjoy Mr. Curtis, His manner of speech and character is so enjoyable to watch on Gun Smoke. He brought a great dimension to the the series. Didn't know he could sing until I saw this you tube,
My Dad went to school with him and they lived down the road from each other. His stage name was Ken Curtis but his real name was Curtis Gates. His Dad was the Sheriff in Las Animas Colorado.
