@archiemadison, you sound like an Audiophile…like myself. I like to watch people review audio equipment, to see either how smart or how stupid they are. If you really know about audio equipment, I urge you to watch this video again. Multiple times he says Schitt that’s not true about this equipment at all. I understand that he is in no way a professional but come on, seriously. At one point this moron is examining the box and reading the what’s included in it. When he gets to the soundbar, he says that it doesn’t say how big it is. HOW THE F*** DID HE MISS THE GIANT TWO INCH NUMBERS (42”) LITERALLY ALL OVER THE BOX?
Bought this 2 weeks ago.. .. this is amazing sound bar.. it’s awesome in open room and the bass trembles the body..but the best thing about it is the sound as a whole.. is pretty much helping me get my kids out of the house.. it is like an earthquake in my house with wooden floors with subwoofer.. it’s done 2 jobs 💯
I got my sound bar awhile back and my bass hits pretty well I leave it at lvl 1 but I have it in a open area and I don’t have to turn it up past 10 ever
The reason maybe you're having the audio lag is because you're tv needs to be eARC compatible able with the right HDMI cord for the soundbar to connect to the tv. If you have an ARC tv and you plug it in you won't get Atmos or synced sound.
Exactly, I won a new Vizio V-series 50” 4K the from work so I put it in my bedroom and it’s perfect. The only problem is the sound you get on a $300/Vizio TV…. *Terrible!!!* Very tinny sounding which makes it hard to hear (especially at night) dialogue. I was going to get this ONN or the Vizio… but I want true Atmos and I *don’t need body rockin bass* that loud unless I’m listening to music. Especially since the bass on cheaper setups tend to create distortion in the (audiophile term is compression I think) dialogue. So I got a *New/refurbished-Bose TV Speaker Soundbar* for $160 on eBay shipped. Didn’t need much and didn’t expect much at entry level. Now it’s just a basic soundbar itself without the bass module (with option to upgrade) but it’s perfect for a bedroom setup and an excellent upgrade for any low/mid quality 4K TV with poor sound or one that has the new ARC/eARC HDMI port. This allow you to control the soundbar volume with the TV remote. I just needed to be able to hear the dialogue clearly at lower volumes. This thing is the *BEST for dialogue clarity* for the (brand new is $279) $159 I paid on fleabay. Has HDMI ARC + Optical port and comes with Optcial cable, but not the HDMI 2.0/2.1 (got a decent 3/ft 8K 2.1 cable for like $15) cable for ARC. The bass is very decent. More importantly, it’s clear and doesn’t suffer compression (that’s distortion, to us *non-audiophiles*) unless you turn up the volume to 100 and the bass boost on max. I personally wouldn’t do unless I had a house party because the speaker is loud for such a tiny unit. Overall best option at the $159 price if you just want to be able to hear your TV and pickup details in dialogue that you would never hear with factory speakers. Now adding either the 500/700 Bose bass module is pricey and is exclusive to Bose but are the same units used in their high end soundbar setups… like the Bose Soundbar 300/700/900. The 900 is Bose stand alone Atmos soundbar that bounces sound all around you. I know you can get much cheaper units but Bose products are known to last and have probably the best default build quality period. You just need to ask yourself are you really going to use body rockin bass enough to sacrifice dialogue clarity. Again the Bose TV Speaker has great thumpy bass and listening to music on Bluetooth sounds very good, but unfortunately it’s just stereo and is basically meant as a *VERY compact upgrade* for 4K LED TV’s that have bad sound due to small speakers. This thing is like 32” in length and around 2” in height so designed to save space
I know this is an old thread but I've recently jumped into the soundbar game with this. It seems there is a lag on the soundbar when playing on PS5. The only work around is to connect PS5 directly to soundbar, but then you lose 120hz/variable refresh rate. The only way to play PS5 with a sound bar with zero lag with the PS5 plugged into the tv running on Earc is to set the tv up properly and finagle the PS5 audio output settings to output PCM to the soundbar. Downside of this of course is that you lose surround sound. It sucks
@@gamingwithmars5420 Odds are your issue is bluetooth connection which is convenient for music, podcasts, and audio in general but when mixed with a video source there is a delay for the bluetooth to convert to audio (why the video is present with audio lag). My advice to most people is connect the soundbar or similar devices directly by hdmi arc, optical, etc vs using bluetooth due to it's low bandwidth standards for it (okay for pcm audio streams but denser streams... forget it).
@@MrWirelesscaller it's not a Bluetooth device. It's a soundbar hardwired to a TV, and the TV is hardwired to the PS5. Seems to be an issue with the TV and the soundbar firmwares just not meshing well. I can get it lag free on Dolby Atmos on PS5 but in order to do so I have to toggle the TV's earc off and on every time I first boot up the TV/PS5 for the day. Definitely shouldn't be that way but
Just bought this soundbar the other day and everything works great! The only issue is connecting to wifi. Soundbar is detected by my router wifi as unsecured but that's as far as it goes. Home app doesn't respond/recognize the connection. Any thoughts? Thanks!
That’s tough to say… it depends how loud you watch your TV/movies? Also, if you’re willing to sacrifice clarity for volume and if you’re comfortable with having to replace these cheaper units more often? Obviously big brands are (usually) built better and have more options to future-proof with things like multiple ARC/eARC ports and can even provide better sound immersion with less speakers (ex. Sonos or Bose soundbar 900 as an all-in one) because of superior technology/quality. Remember loud volume is cheap these days… it’s the clarity and detail it improves while at those volumes. I’m not an audiophile, but I needed a soundbar for my Vizio V-series 4K 50” bedroom TV that has the worst sound I’ve ever heard on a TV and just couldn’t always make out the dialogue. So I bought a new/refurbished Bose TV Speaker from EBay for like $159/shipped. I got it because it was compact and literally has a dedicated button for dialogue enhancement that makes dialogue at any volume crystal clear. I only paid $159 so I wasn’t expecting much but this little speaker is amazing for bedroom TV and it still has thumpy bass if you want it. You can add the bass modules separately if you wanted to upgrade later and it has ARC. I know there are probably louder better sounding systems for that price, but I want clarity and reliable build quality. I’ve heard Vizio is really good for the price but their QC is VERY bad. If I were to do it all over again I might consider splurging for the Bose Smart soundbar 900 that has loud enough bass (for me at least) and invented the sound bouncing technology that surrounds you. But… it is expensive at $900 for only the soundbar… the separate wireless speakers are $600 and the bass module/700 is $800 (could also get the 500 module $400) I know the 900 bar alone would be plenty and I’ve heard they can have connection issues due to interference but if you wire the bass mod and soundbar like most systems then no issues with the back wireless speakers. I’ve seen a package deal online for like $1900 for the whole enchilada. However, I’m not 100% sold on Bose being so dependent on WiFi for the soundbar. Also, I’d want at minimum (2) eARC hdmi ports for the soundbar to at least run my PS5 (when I can finally find one) into the soundbar itself. So… even though I love how Bose speakers use their technology to isolate and bounce sound every which way it’s a crap shoot because the sound market is more saturated than it’s ever been. Probably go with Harmon Kardon speakers and if I’m not mistaken Samsung soundbar uses them and it’s significantly cheaper than Bose. Bose has a great reputation for materials, build quality and QC but it seems like this wireless system was possibly rushed to compete with Sonos, Harmon Kardon etc and that could be a problem. Honestly, I don’t like the fact that WiFi for a stand-alone soundbar is necessary because of built in Alexa. It’s like they’re forcing the WiFi-mandatory inconvenient Alexa (and her spyware) on us without a choice and charging us at the same time for a feature some people won’t use or just don’t want. I mean my Vizio 2021 V-series remote doesn’t have any channel number buttons?! Like wtf… I want to watch TV not scream at it to go to a specific channel. It’s all about getting as many mics integrated in our life as possible that just follow us around listening. Crazy how this was such a breach of privacy at one point and then Snowden exposes the whole government spy network to the whole world and now they just expect us to not only be ok with being watched and listened to whenever… but also pay for that so called privilege? I do want a decent Atmos setup but I’m going to wait and see if something better comes because honestly, even though it’s only stereo, the Bose TV speaker soundbar… has better sound than 95% of any of the TV’s out there. It has hdmi ARC connection, Bluetooth, great build quality and the option to add the Bose 500/700 bass module if I wanted. I don’t want to have to be WiFi connection dependent to listen to a free cable TV broadcast of a football game or say watch a Blu-ray movie on PlayStation for that kind of money

The biggest question I had about the Onn was its DTS support; though no one has specifically said so, I assume from its documentation that it has zero DTS support (like the much more expensive Sonos Arc, plus TCL's virtualized Atmos soundbars priced at or just below this one), thus it must be decoded to PCM in the Blu-ray player (thus no Atmos or DTS:X, potentially no surround sound from cheaper players), or possibly to MAT/PCM Atmos from Xbox One S/X & Series X consoles with the DTS Sound Unbound app (not yet confirmed).
