Lovely video. I’m proud to say Jack Harris was my grandfather. He absolutely loved his job on Grandstand and at the BBC.
One of the highlights for his grandchildren growing up were the A0 sized birthday cards we got every year with hand painted graphics on.
Top man and very much loved and missed by all his family.

I knew Jack and worked with him on Grandstand in the old days at BBC Lime Grove and later at TV Centre. He was a lovely man and very talented.

That football board is never from 1980. Oxford in Div 1 in 1980? Don't think so.... where are Leeds United? And also the graphic colour was in green not blue. Blue came much later. That's most likely from 1986 or 1987.

Yes that's what I thought too.

They're probably just talking about the format of the board with the paper strips for the score changes. If that's the original scaffold they worked from, they might have changed colours and teams but the structure is probably identical but remains with the last teams it had while it was in service.

Oxford in Div 1 with Ipswich, that’s most certainly an 85-86 season board (Ipswich were relegated that year)
