26:30 On the right side at the top in the drop-down menu, select Play Sound. You can create an audio recording of yourself (or an AI test-to-speech) saying the name of your Mode, and select that audio file to be played so that you know which mode you have switched to.
These tools are a life saver. I've been using them for a while now. I have a racing pedal set that I use as rudder pedals and using these tools make it so that each pedal shows up as half of one axis. My daughters have some games that go crazy when it picks up certain input devices, like my 3Dmouse. With hidhide, I just disable all devices not being used by me so those inputs don't interfere with their games.
Hey man, you just saved my life when you showed the Swap Device feature in this video. My VPILs were lying in the box for a couple of years. Everything worked before, but now it stopped saving profiles - it gave an error. I dug through the entire Internet, but the advice there does not work. Like you need to rename the devices and blah blah blah. But you saved me!! Respect to you for this!
Hey, I just wanted to say, after a lot of annoyance at the Thrustmaster GUI, difficulties getting Virpil, Thrustmaster and my CH pedals all to work, and Star Citizen having a personal vendetta against each and everyone of these inputs I'd almost given up. I can't get joystick gremlin to start on my system. i have vjoy and hidhide open. I've tried running joystick gremlin in administrator mode, but still no "joy" , see what I did there?lol
Oh, sweet, I was trying to theorize how you had the axis profiles set up on JSG and here's my answer. I was trying to play around with it all day yesterday using two virtual devices instead of just the one and got it to where I felt comfortable. I'll need to use your method when I get home from work tonight and see if I like that better. (btw MUCH better audio quality overall, I know you had multiple comments on it last video but that Beacn will definitely take you far)
Thanks! The MV7 isn't a bad mic. But the audio interface I was using is more complicated than what I need. It is designed for musicians to record vocals and an instrument. And I could just never get the EQ right. Beacn is just made for content creators so it was setup in an evening.
I just wanted to add an issue I had setting up 2 VKB Gladiator EVOs. When I followed your directions on turning the hat into buttons, it simply did not work for me. What I had to do was scroll down past "Key 128" in the left column and there was "Hat 1". I just assigned buttons 30-33 to Virutal Buttons - up arrow, down arrow, right arrow and left arrow. I'm thinking Joystick Gremlin might have changed something since you did this video. I hope this helps someone in the future. And thanks for the tutorial! Windows should just let you assign static device numbers to your devices.
The profile for 3.23.1 seems to be empty for gremlin, also my right stick isn't being picked up at all. Everything was fine up until the patch drop. Any ideas?

I've been using this setup for about a year. It was a real learning curve to set everything up with my Virpil gear. I wish there had been a video like this back when I started. Good job. If you do a follow up video, it would be nice to show others how to setup the virtual devices in SC. In particular, how to deal with patch drops where you may need to nuke the User directory. I've avoided touching that directory on patch drops simply because I'm unsure how to get back to where I was with the mappings before the patch. So far, the new patches are working OK with just nuking the shaders, but I don't know when this won't be enough.
Thanks! One thing that stood out in your example on a follow-up video was when you said "where you may need to nuke the User directory". You should never nuke the user directory without first backing up your bindings. I do have a general joystick FAQ video in the pipeline that will address this and more common mistakes people make.

I have a issue with 2 extreme 3d pros and construction simulator. it keeps thinking they're both the same controller in game even tho they show differently. and i can't map none of the buttons on my joystick.

Thanks for the video its about as clear as could be for some pretty difficult software functionality. I'm hard stuck setting modifiers on VIRPL CON ALPHA sticks and could use some help, please! I created the Modifier Mode and assigned it to left pinky button, but I am confused how star citizen "recognizes" the modifier and differentiates it from the unmodified keypress. I'm trying to assign a button to have a primary function (VTOL for example) and another modified function (LANDING GEAR for example), when the pinky modifier is pressed first, but i'm only getting both VTOL and GEAR activating simultaneously on an unmodified key press, and then nothing happing on modified key press. Gremlin is successfully hiding my primary input (VTOL) when the Modifier Mode is activated, which is what I want, so that VTOL is not activated unintentionally, but how do I get it to permit the LANDING GEAR input instead; and then conversely while in Default mode? I checked your discord but couldn't find much around Virpil gear and some of the video tutorial didn't exactly match; i.e. some areas diverge from the instructions, specifically the parts regarding encoder dials, sliders, z rotations and others.
Thanks for this! The changes in 3.23 are kind of nuts to the controller bindings. Nothing is working how it should and even Tolbi doesn't seem to want to work right.
@@SubliminaLstv yup, the order gets messed up with physical sticks because of the order they are inistialize in USB, depending on if they are in a hub or ports have switched or sleep the initialization order can change and they need to be swapped. since the vjoy sticks are software they initialize in the exact same way every time so the order is always the same. Another added benefit is that since the vjoy sticks are always presented to star citizen if you unplug a physical stick and replug it you don't have to restart star citizen because as far as Star citizen is concerned the vjoy was always there. joystick gremlin just takes care of connecting it again behind the scenes.
@@SubliminaLstv Yeah the virtual sticks never lose their order. You can plug and unplug all day long and all you have to do is enable in Joystick Gremlin again. Also if you use two virtual sticks, you can actually GAIN another two axes per stick by using the mini sticks with the mode key. I just add them as the slider and dial. I made the Default mode the parent so the other axes pass through to the mode shift. Then I just set the X Rotation to slider and Y Rotation to Dial. Then I assign all the buttons from 1-30 to the virtual stick from 31-60 (except for button 5 on the right hand stick, which is used for the mode button).
when I loaded your profile on my gladiator evos i cant get the buttons 31-33 that are supposed to be mapped to the Hat to work. Is this maybe something in the vkb software? I just followed VKB's setup tutorial and havent changed anything since
Ministick to buttons is a feature I disabled in the 3.23 binds. I am now using a modifier so we get double the buttons. Instead of clicking that in and getting buttons yoiu just hold the modifier and get more buttons for every button in the grip.

I can't seem to get this to work. I can load the profile and my left stick works fine. but every time I try to test the right stick it throws an error. I think it may be because my right stick is an evo rather than regular nxt. is there any way to work around this?
This is awesome stuff, really helped me to understand how Joystick Gremlin works, as I have seen it mentioned so many times. Do you know if it adds any extra lag or input delay, compared to using the joysticks natively in-game? I assume the software adds an extra bit of processing acting as a middleman, so was wondering if there's any downsides to using it.
Can you make axis to button tutorial? Lets say, if the axis is more than 0,5 to 1, button X is hold pressed, and when centered the X is released? I cant sort it out :/
I did that in the video, unless I'm misunderstanding. I made the analog ministick press nothing while centered, and when it moved positive in the X axis past 75% it pressed a button until it was released below that threshold.
@@SubliminaLstv I tried that for zoom in VR in DCS on throttle axis. It wasn't working then I was remaping to keyboard. But when I set it to VJOY button, its working as intended - so finally it works and Gremlin openned whole new level of posibilities. (modifiers, long vs short clicks!!). Thx for answer.
So I'm having a bit of an issue with the modifier button on my NXT; for some reason, even though it's set to temp mode switch on every mode (Aux, Nav, SCM, ext), hitting that button is still a toggle switch between the modifier mode and the mode I'm supposed to be in, not switch to modifier mode when I hold the button down and go back to the previous mode when released. I downloaded these bindings and the gremlin profile as they were on the ko-fi, so I have no idea what's happening or how to fix it.
This isn't the best place for troubleshooting because YT doesn't notify me very well. To fix this issue you need to turn the profile off and back on by pressing the gamepad icon in JG. If that doesnt work you have the debug version of Joystick Gremlin and that one is not compatible with my binds. I'm using the dual Thrustmaster T16000M's but I have no idea on where to find their exe to exclude them as I didn't program them (the Thrustmaster TARGET program is bad ?): how to I add them to HID? there is no discription on how to set it up as far as I have seen? Trying to import your 3.23 advanced profile, having some trouble. It crashes after importing and swapping devices, until I made sure i had vjoy 1 and 2 enabled (need both or it will crash). vjoy 1 and 2 can not have same amount of buttons, or crash. I set vjoy 1 to 127 and vjoy 2 to 128. Now, it's not crashing for me anymore, but it is not mapping correctly. . left throttle dial moves axis 3 and 4, and twist axis moves 3 and 6. ministick analog seems to be axis instead of buttons. I'll try to edit it and see if I can get it right
@@jamesgraham2961 Yes, sorry forgot to edit. You need to do the remap option but only bind the sticks and not the bases. I stopped using JG though and went to the basic profile, just so I wouldnt have to set up elite and x4 for JG too
Sorry, I'm a little confused by any steps after this. How do I get Star Citizen to use vjoy device #1, and once I do, the next step to move the layout files to the controls/mappings location? Joystick Gremlin is not reliable for me :( I'm using the "Temporary Mode Switch" but it doesn't consistently switch back to the default mode after releasing the button.
I need help if anybody can help. Not getting much help on VKB discord. I have this exact set up, but my twist is automatically inverted. Some of my axis is normal but my yaw on my right stick and my throttle and twist axis is inverted. What can i do to fix this if i already flashed my configs with the vkb software?
All joy2key does is map joystick buttons to keyboard keys...like the name says, I know. But this can do that and much more. I'll explain how the process works to add the modifier I want in both programs. With Joy2Key it simply maps button 11 to whatever keyboard key you specify (ex. R-CRTL). When you press the modifier and button 1 it will show up in Star Citizen as "R-CTRL + Button 1". Joystick Gremlin maps the physical button on your joystick to a button on a virtual joystick, (you can add up to 128 physical buttons, across any number of physical devices, to one or more virtual joysticks). You tell JG what physical button is the modifier and you can map that button + what ever else you press to a virtual button of its own, (ex. virtual button 41). Star citizen will see this as just button 41. It doesn't even need to input a keyboard key. The main feature for me is being able to map physical buttons from joystick 1 2 3...and so on, to one virtual joystick. So as far as SC is concerned its just one device.
is there a way to just put mappings in folder without all this useless (for me) software? It was very simple just putting file into mappings folder and pp_resort all this. 5 seconds.
This guide only works if things go exactly right. I am getting a bunch of errors from gremlin that make no sense to an average user after following along with the video when I try to add a remap.
That FLIPPIN Hidhide locked out ALL my usb ports. Hard to operate a computer with No mouse or Keyboard. Luckily able to restore with an install stick. What a convoluted Night mare.

This video answered my question perfectly. I have a hotas which are two separate devices, but Freespace 2 only recognises one.

Yeah, I noticed eye tracking isn't working.
You never need to resort with vJoy. The vJoy devices will never change order. :)

I assume the software adds an extra bit of processing acting as a middleman, so was wondering if there's any downsides to using it.

So with 3.23 and the new keybinds do I need joystick gremlin or anything? I have the nzxt evo’s. This seems very confusing to me. Still a new player.
Can you make axis to button tutorial? Lets say, if the axis is more than 0,5 to 1, button X is hold pressed, and when centered the X is released? I cant sort it out :/
I did that in the video, unless I'm misunderstanding. I made the analog ministick press nothing while centered, and when it moved positive in the X axis past 75% it pressed a button until it was released below that threshold.
@@SubliminaLstv I tried that for zoom in VR in DCS on throttle axis. It wasn't working then I was remaping to keyboard.
But when I set it to VJOY button, its working as intended - so finally it works and Gremlin openned whole new level of posibilities. (modifiers, long vs short clicks!!). Thx for answer.

So I'm having a bit of an issue with the modifier button on my NXT; for some reason, even though it's set to temp mode switch on every mode (Aux, Nav, SCM, ext), hitting that button is still a toggle switch between the modifier mode and the mode I'm supposed to be in, not switch to modifier mode when I hold the button down and go back to the previous mode when released. I downloaded these bindings and the gremlin profile as they were on the ko-fi, so I have no idea what's happening or how to fix it.
This isn't the best place for troubleshooting because YT doesn't notify me very well. To fix this issue you need to turn the profile off and back on by pressing the gamepad icon in JG. If that doesnt work you have the debug version of Joystick Gremlin and that one is not compatible with my binds.

I'm using the dual Thrustmaster T16000M's but I have no idea on where to find their exe to exclude them as I didn't program them (the Thrustmaster TARGET program is bad ?): how to I add them to HID? there is no discription on how to set it up as far as I have seen? Many thanks: I would like to try this but am not able to: great video! Will try to set it up.
As long as thrustmaster target isn't installed you don't need to hide it., 🙂

Are you talking about the t6000s thrustmaster software? That software is TARGET and it probably isnt installed on your PC. I. Isn't required.
Nooo I mean at the 2 minute mark I mentioned the configs listed on Ur site but the config for the ts16000m isn't there😅

Trying to import your 3.23 advanced profile, having some trouble. It crashes after importing and swapping devices, until I made sure i had vjoy 1 and 2 enabled (need both or it will crash). vjoy 1 and 2 can not have same amount of buttons, or crash. I set vjoy 1 to 127 and vjoy 2 to 128. Now, it's not crashing for me anymore, but it is not mapping correctly. . left throttle dial moves axis 3 and 4, and twist axis moves 3 and 6. ministick analog seems to be axis instead of buttons. I'll try to edit it and see if I can get it right

@@jamesgraham2961 Yes, sorry forgot to edit. You need to do the remap option but only bind the sticks and not the bases. I stopped using JG though and went to the basic profile, just so I wouldnt have to set up elite and x4 for JG too

I never did. When I used the T16000Ms I used buzzzkillers binds.
So Star Citizen is still seeing my joystick in windows and not seeing the Vjoy profile. how can i fix this?

Sorry, I'm a little confused by any steps after this. How do I get Star Citizen to use vjoy device #1, and once I do, the next step to move the layout files to the controls/mappings location? Thanks to anyone who can help me with this. I even used Hidhide to hide my VKB,s and windows sees my Vjoy device but it looks like Star Citizen does not, or it's not working with the mapping somehow.

I'm using the "Temporary Mode Switch" but it doesn't consistently switch back to the default mode after releasing the button.

I have this exact set up, but my twist is automatically inverted. Some of my axis is normal but my yaw on my right stick and my throttle and twist axis is inverted. What can i do to fix this if i already flashed my configs with the vkb software?

Why Grimlin vs. Joy2key that Buzz uses Sub?
All joy2key does is map joystick buttons to keyboard keys...like the name says, I know. But this can do that and much more. I'll explain how the process works to add the modifier I want in both programs. With Joy2Key it simply maps button 11 to whatever keyboard key you specify (ex. R-CRTL). When you press the modifier and button 1 it will show up in Star Citizen as "R-CTRL + Button 1". Joystick Gremlin maps the physical button on your joystick to a button on a virtual joystick, (you can add up to 128 physical buttons, across any number of physical devices, to one or more virtual joysticks). You tell JG what physical button is the modifier and you can map that button + what ever else you press to a virtual button of its own, (ex. virtual button 41). Star citizen will see this as just button 41. It doesn't even need to input a keyboard key. The main feature for me is being able to map physical buttons from joystick 1 2 3...and so on, to one virtual joystick. So as far as SC is concerned its just one device.

It was very simple just putting file into mappings folder and pp_resort all this. 5 seconds.
Well yeah thats how binds work if you dont want the softwares features don't download.
This guide only works if things go exactly right. I am getting a bunch of errors from gremlin that make no sense to an average user after following along with the video when I try to add a remap.
Gremlin just keeps telling me I cant use the profile because its an invalid version

That FLIPPIN Hidhide locked out ALL my usb ports. Hard to operate a computer with No mouse or Keyboard. Luckily able to restore with an install stick. What a convoluted Night mare.
All of this can be done with the joystick software already and resorting devices takes 2 seconds.
