An idea for a 3-segment display (using rotation!)

- A cool idea for a 3-segment display possible by rotating the display. Though this seems unrealistic, I bet someone could make a clock that very quickly rotates the segments. (I think this has already been done, so its definitely possible!)

You can _sort of_ make out most of the numbers, so this is definitely a big improvement over the other 2 and 3-segment displays I've seen. I think after a few improvements it might be comparable to typical 4/5 segment displays which are almost entirely readable aside from perhaps 1 compromised digit

@@flingyourself The 0 is completely unrecognizable although I don't know how to fix it. The segment used for 5 might need to be slightly curled up to make the 3 more recognizable. Also, the segment which is used for the number 7 should have the bottom horizontal line removed to make it look less like a Z. Proportion of small segments can be adjusted to make the very tiny digits larger. Other than that I'm not sure
Yeah, the 0 kinda sucks but everything else had already taken up everything that kinda looked like a 0. I thought that since all segments lit up looks pretty round, it’s be okay, but I see your point. I think the idea for the five is pretty good. I would agree with your suggestion for the 7, but you have to remember that the 7 is an upside down 2. Removing the little tail would make the 2 really weird. And yes I think I should change the proportions a little. Thanks for being so constructive with your criticism!

I think the 4 could be improved (because I mistake the current 4 as a 9) by taking the 7 (ㄹ) and 1 (ㅣ) glyph together to give more of an impression there is a 4 (리)

The 5 glyph can also be combined with the line to its top to make it more distinctly a 5, then have it upside down to be more distinctly a 2. Then the remaining ¬ could be read as a 7
No cuz then it will be a 4 segment display
9 works better with the added one line. Also this is tech i ally a 6 segment display because the point of segmented displays is for them to be seen on devices. Cool idea though.

It's nice looking, but I think 6 and 9 should be the same. Maybe if 9 uses the design of 4? Or if if you flip the original 9 so it is at the bottom to look like 6?

I'll just reply to this comment here with all of your suggestions. First off, thanks for being so helpful in your descriptions. Most people just say "this looks bad" which I can''t really do anything with. So the idea with the 4 actually works if I adjust the proportions of the segments (yay!). The idea with the 5 glyph sort-of works. When I combine it with the top line, it definitely resembles a 5 more closely, but when I flip it upside down, it looks like a 2 flipped horizontally (which ends up looking like another 5 rather than a 2). I can't find a symbol to show you what I mean, but just take a piece of paper, draw a 5, and turn it 180 degrees. Having the resulting ¬ be a 7 works pretty good though, but it's just that 2 that doesn't quite work. Any further thoughts on how we could fix this?
I dont know if this is on the table. But the hook looking glyph, the one for 9, would actually make a great hook for 2 if the glyph was flipped horizontally. All that would be left then would be that ¬. If you extend the tiny tiny bottom line near that (right now it looks like a ¬_ ) have the glyph (|) be an (L) shape instead so when turned it could be a (⌋) or (⌉), one or seven respectively
Or if you take the ( | ) and (ㄹ) only, make the (ㄹ) tiny, it could look like a slightly bent 7 (리)
And for the 4 glyph, have the line be diagonal not horizontal to give more of an impression its a 4 like this (1) and not (⌉)
And also, close the gap between the horizontal line and the rest of the two symbols by making it not slanted. Imagine this being rectangular as an outline rather than a slanted parallellogram and it should (i believe) help with readability
