I'm a singer songwriter and I think Paul got the song Yesterday from his own subconsious mind,it was only a few years since his mother had passed away and he was still a very young man and her death affected him terribly and he missed her very much and that's why he longed for yesterday,I believe this wonderful song didn't come to Paul from anywhere else (unless it came as a gift from his mother!) but that it came from within Paul himself.
P.S.,This may sound weird but when my own mother passed away she sent me a song that was important to me when I was little to comfort me,a song I hadn't even thought about in 30 years so yes we do sometimes receive messages from our loved ones. Bob

I was 13 when I saw Paul singing Yesterday solo on Ed Sullivan Show.
Even then I thought the band was nice to let him have the spotlight. To them the song was more important than their egos.

The middle 8 of Yesterday did not come in the dream. Paul spent days trying out searching for that middle 8. He slogged it out as John would say how some of their songwriting sessions together were. That is why Paul and John were great songwriters. They had that Brill Building approach, not just waiting around for inspiration.

Finding it on the street where your head lived long enough to reveal your next artistic endeavor. My hobby is writing Poetry so I have experienced similar moments where I feel drawn to expressing myself about a person, place or thing. I wrote a poem about Hurricane Katrina that almost destroyed New Orleans . It was like only a few minutes of my time to write this description of a catastrophic storm that was destroying so many lives and infrastructures. I compared Katrina to a witch riding her broom.
Once I walked past Paul Mcartney in the airport toilets. Didn’t realise it was him until my mum went crazy and then we tried to get him but he walked into the first class lounge 😭
