Hunting for rare pokemon isn't for everyone. Most people are content with catching the pokemon they want and battling their way through the game. Some people only play competitively and never play the actual game. Never the less, a rare pokemon will always be cool to me.
Yes, I actually wanted to cover this in the video, but felt it would interfere with the flow! One of the best things about Pokemon is that it allows for different playstyles where you can play the game how you want.
@@ContentCreature Only in gen 2 because in those game's shininess is based on iv rather than personality value. They're also only about like 60/100% or so of the maximum possible ivs from the 8 possible shiny iv combination's averages iirc, so its only 10% more than an average pokemon's ivs (assuming we were to say 50/100% ivs is average)
@@introvert4931Can confirm. That 10% isn't that much when you get to the Kanto region, but it's just enough to plow through all the Johto gyms while underleveled by maybe 10 levels at most. And also, shiny starters are gender-locked in gen 2 (male only).

Shiny hunting Lugia in Ultra Moon right now and totally agree (I've been shiny hunting for 8 years why do I do this to myself, anything for those special pixels) Came back to the video because holy shit I i got the Lugia 10 minutes later
Totally agree. Not my cup of tea, but I can see why some folks would be into it. I think the newer games made it a bit easier cause of the open world nature of them now, able to spawn more Pokemon? I found a shiny in Violet , caught it and was just like "ok cool". Threw it in the box never to be seen again.
Can we get an update when you get the shiny Lugia? I’d love to hear the perspective change once you accomplish the goal. But I do feel the same way into a long hunt. It’s rage inducing
Yeah honestly that might be worth doing, even better if I can manage to record the reaction. but that shiny fever comes in waves every few months, so it could happen anytime from next month to 2032. if I haven't destroyed my gaming collection by then
@@StoneColdMiracle I completely understand. I hope that you get it. I’m doing a shiny roamer hunt in HeartGold for shiny Entei or shiny Raikou. It’s a tedious set up & a rather lengthy reset. I’ve been doing it on & off for months.
