Let's face it. The Mob was an innovator. In much of corporate America, Italians, Jews, Blacks, and other groups were often excluded from business and government and they had to create their own opportunities. That's why Amadeo Pietro Giannini founded what we know today as Bank of America. That's why Black entrepreneur Madam C.J. Walker created her own personal grooming product empire. That's why Jewish ad agencies, law firms, and accounting firms were created. And so forth. But in the Mob world, you had the concept of diversity in action, with opportunities for immigrants of all kinds: Italians, the Irish, and Jews. And there were also opportunities for Blacks. When Charles "Lucky" Luciano first got a private tour of the Specialist Operations of the New York Stock Exchange and the way those stock market players were able to extract cash from the public, he commented, "A terrible thing happened. I realized I'd joined the wrong mob." On the downside of the Mob, they have lousy retirement plans and continue to remain behind the corporate world in that area.

I highly recommend the book, The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene, a book that takes lessons from Machiavelli, Sun Tzu & other historical figures.
The first law, funny enough, is don't outshine the master.
It's very similar to The Prince, in how it's written & puts Machiavelli's advice into todays perspective.
Cesare Borgia, who The Prince is dedicated to, knew the value of his teachings, about holding power through being both loved & feared by the ppl & when to apply these two different things.
He made a bet with a friend that he could demonstrate the power of fear. Borgia, who was drinking from a jewelled goblet, walked into a Rome square & in full view of the massed crowds laid the goblet on the fountain, stating loudly he would return for it the next day & walked away. He bet his friend that the fear they had of him would guarantee the goblets safety. Borgia won the bet.

My late father lived a Criminal Lifestyle when he was young. My dad was the guy in the movie theaters that always rooted for the "bad guy' and the gangster. Christmas Eve of 1972 my dad loaded the family up, and we went to downtown Seattle for the Christmas Eve premiere of "The Godfather". I was seven. Looking back, the amusing thing about it was throughout my childhood all the way up to leaving the house at 18, my dad would make references and even ask me questions about various principles gleaned from that movie, as though it were a training film LOL 🤣😆😅 my dad was somebody who could handle you as a heathen, and my dad could deal with those who sincerely followed the teachings of Christ. What he couldn't deal with, were people on the fence. My dad was over about a month before he passed back in 96 and we watched "The Bronx tale". I was a really young guy with a straight laced Value System ,and a family, I kind of looked down my nose a little bit at the characters, and my dad look me straight in the eyes , and told me, "It's THEIR, America TOO". From then until now, every mob movie I see, I try to acquire some wisdom from the characters portrayed and the things that they say. My dad was right. What the Italians ( And La COSA Nostra".) ARE stitched on The Patchwork Of American Society, they bring with them a lot of things that can be used as either wisdom, or Cautionary Tale. Chazz Palmateri played the gangster so well, he made me nervous and I was just watching him on VHS, Kudos to him for his wonderful performance as Sonny.

I have just finished the Carmine Persico book, just about to start the chin Giganti book I have already started the book about your father,
Carmine Persico very interesting character, very very dedicated to the life.
Also its my opinion that your father was set up not by Columbo but I believe by Persico, your father was a real strong minded powerful player, so he was moved to one side,
Then he had you, powerful intelligent strong minded just like him, so they put him out to pasture.. In prison.
    It's just my opinion.
Gotti I don't like him at all really don't, but you have to admire his dedication to omerta.
Only thing I like about Gotti is the Armand Assante film lol. I said to my dad once. I can make more money working for Up f****s then I do with u. Slapped me across the head said shut up stop quoting films hahahaha

_Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience. For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed._

I can't wait for the breakdown of The Prince. After that, maybe the same with Gracian's, The Art of Worldly Wisdom. I see a lot of similarities in your stories and his axioms.

This is why I no longer watch Sammy the Bull’s channel.
Being an ex Mafia guy is like being an ex cop. You may leave the life but the mentality remains and it’s a beast beating on the door wanting out sometimes.

Hi Michael, I hope you're doing well. Not sure if this is the best way to get a hold of you, but I just wanted to reach out and see if there was any way I could ask you about some insight to one of my favorite movies. And see if you can share any information to me. 🙌🏼🙌🏼
