    Great exploration into the guts here. Thanks for that. I'm in the same boat. Coming from an electronics background, I would say anything you got to make contact in the moment will be short-lived. I hate it too, but I think we have to take apart that steering column and fully refurbish/replace all the contact points. But I really appreciate you showing me the circuit and parts of a car that is new to me.

      Many of those switches just need usage. When a car sits at least a long time here the contacts at first are like they are open. So a few operations of the switch often cleans the contacts

    I bought an 89 that had sat for almost 20 years as well. Almost nothing electronic worked. Bought a couple of tubes of dielectric grease and using a file and sand paper I finally have everything working. I recently put in an aftermarket steering wheel and now the horn doesn't work! Dang it. Gonna remove the new steering wheel and see what I did wrong.
