This is so similar to Scriabin's Sonata no. 1 also in F minor.

I always thought the beginning of the 1st movement reminded me of Schuman's 3rd sonata, but I guess it sounds like Scriabin's too

He studied with Rimsky-Korsakov, so maybe Russian influence (although Korsakov didn't seem to like the music of Scriabin very much I believe. But maybe Respighi did.😊)
