It wasn’t until I went to Paris that I realized how stressed I was in NYC. I always thought that it was city life, but it was American city life, In Europe I sat in cafes for hours reading and chilling. I could eat a meal without being rushed out. It was a revelation.

Ladies, when choosing potential destinations to relocate, make sure to consider that it is an environmentally safe place (that floodings, fires, etc are not projected to peak in the next years). Also, INVEST in building sustainable relationships with local people as much as you invest in your retirement age. Social relationships are a valuable currency that’s often overlooked and that we have to build from zero when moving abroad.
2024 edit: Wow! I'm glad many saw (and liked) this comment. I hope yo found it useful and that our migration journeys stay safe! Happy day!

For me, "soft" is living well without running the rat race, community, great healthcare, progressive politics, safe and respectful to women and POC. Lived in Asia for 12 years and traveled through Europe and Asia and the Middle East. It's all relative - when I was single, married, divorced, a mom, freelance vs employee... The list reflects your personal introspective deep dive and where you are in your season of life. Note, you can move again to another country (did it 3x). You make the rules.

@@tjsproles4992outside of Mexico , all the other countries listed have excellent public primary & secondary education. Going to their public colleges is cheaper than American community colleges in some of the countries. Mexico education is kind of similar to American public education. Whoever has the most money gets the best education of course but their regular public schools is still better than American public schools as far as education. Just make sure your child has lunch in Mexico depending on where you live in Mexico. Free lunch isn’t available at some public schools in Mexico.

There are places in Mexico you would not move to as an American seeking a soft life, as they would not be the safest options, and where you would not make a sustainable amount of money. Lastly, many people seeking asylum in the US aren't from Mexico, they are from other countries and come through Mexico.

This warms my heart because I’m leaving 3 days after l turn 66 in March 2025
Paying off bills and selling stuff giving memories to family members in the form of pictures clothes household items--
      Moving to Belgrade Serbia
I have a daughter who lives on the outskirts
Visited last Oct for 21 days went to Rome on the cheap
The pace is what l noticed and how cheap the food was and great it tastes
It’s no preservatives used and they have one of the shortest periods of farm to plate in the world
The land is rich and you can buy a house for 15 k
That ensures residential property and citizenship!!!!
American money goes very far as the average salary is 900 Eros a month… no car is needed if staying in the city and be prepared to walk … It’s more English spoken than you think and they are interested in your story and have American questions like why do you have more guns than people-- The only guns you see are law enforcement period
I felt safe and black American men are treated differently than African men
You can see and feel the difference--
      Only warning
Don’t do money exchanges at the airport and either use a hotel shuttle or family pick you up at the airport… the cab drivers love American people who are there for the first time
You will pay an extra 20 euros because they know you don’t know the way

Barbados is one of the best places in the world for Black people to live. The Prime Minister, Mia Mottley, is a Black woman. The President, Sandra Mason, is a Black woman. When the Prime Minister is out of the country, a Black woman named Santia Bradshaw usually serves as interim Prime Minister. The entire government looks like the people, 95% of whom are Black. All of the policemen and women are Black. Unlike most American policemen and women, they understand that their job is to protect, not abuse or kill the people. Healthcare is free. If guns were not easily accessible in the U.S., gun violence would be non existent in Barbados. Most of the guns used to commit crimes in Barbados I am sure are smuggled into the country from the U.S. Overall, crime is relatively low. The island is modern. You can easily get just about everything you get in the U.S. and Europe there.
Most importantly, there is a feeling of normalcy there. The political figures and people are normal.

They also made a document that you can find in Amazon. Another black American in SA interviewed black American living in JHB about living in SA, the couple names asad El malik , they also made a document in their channel about black American living in SA ,they work with Ashley in africa for Wits University. Thank you very much for what you are doing to remind blacks not to forget Africa as their ancestory land where they come from , I wish all the best in the 2024 summit that will be held in Cape town. I feel like my situation is unique a little bit. I’ve always had this mentality of not wanting to “slave” for America .. but recently I was laid off blindsided from a job I was at two years, and from there it just became a domino effect ..recently my unemployment benefits ran out and yes, I was looking for work countlessly within these two months, and nothing permanent has come my way yet. I’ve had gigs here and there, but nothing permanent from having numerous of interviews, so with my situation I just got evicted from my place after all of this hardship happening from losing my job. I’m ready to just start now I feel like this is a sign but how am I to do it with literally no money that’s scary for me.😢 (Ps.. I strongly feel that me not getting calls backs.. etc are because I’m a black woman)… I have NEVER thought this way until around Cvid when you can just TELL… but that’s another story😤

Some places in America are affordable and you can make it if you are disciplined and determined. If all else fails, and you're able, consider joining the service or working for housing at a shelter for a little while

I would honestly take this as a sign to move out the US. and yes, I agree, they are discriminating against us Black women in the workforce no matter our education or experience. I’ve see it am experiencing it and I even tested it by using a “white sounding name” but you know they do remote interviews now and you must turn on your camera. Either that or you must be willing to accept below the average market salary in that field before they take you seriously. I know. I’m living it.

Hello, my daughter has a medical condition… That is quite rare… And after the last experience, we’ve had here in America and healthcare which I’m grateful don’t get me wrong. I just feel such a pool maybe venture out and learn how to live abroad or to live a more nomadic lifestyle or to relocate to an area that just brings about, more love health and wealth… We are not rich… At all, but we are creative and have each other and are willing to think outside of the borders… I’m glad I found your channel and if you could reach back out, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Stef, some of our people started off in the New World in Barbados. My ancestry shows that part of my family were in Barbados first and then came to South Carolina who were also the founders of South Carolina that's why Bardabiands and South Carolinians have a somewhat shared culture.

Barbados is a socialist government so education is mostly free and so is most healthcare. However the government is very strongly influenced by the wealthy read business owners who are still predominantly white ex-British families. They are very content and smart to stay in the background but a lot of the businesses are oligarchies and there is very little competition where it matters. They have recently been power outages and water shortages. It is a lovely place to visit, even live short term but there is very little that changes. Also China has become the biggest benefactor of late which will pose problems when they come for the favors.

All governments in the world are influenced by the wealthy. Most people in Barbados are not affected by power or water outages. If not China, which country would you suggest Barbados and other countries that are turning to China turn to? Right wingers in the U.S. government don't want to give needy Americans money. Do you think they will be open to helping Barbadians? The Chinese are building roads, bridges, airports, hospitals, and other things in third world and developing countries. They are lending money to governments in third world and developing countries. I'll worry about problems these actions pose in the future.

Rain is to Caribbean people what snow is to North Americans.
Don't drive in the rain. Your car can get washed away.
Don't drive in the snow. You can get into an accident.
Rainy days and snow days schools close for safety.

I visited South Africa a few months ago and never felt more safe. I’m not saying that crime isn’t there..crime is everywhere including the US. As a matter of fact the crime is higher in most US major cities than Johannesburg SA. That said black people aren’t being hunted down like animals there.
Just like in the US you don’t go to the parts of town that is not safe. There are safe places and those that are not and just like the US it is usually poverty based. The malls are AMAZING and I felt very safe. Security is there and visible.
I will say this, on that plane ride over there, the plane was FULL of the palm colored people. It was maybe 10 of us that we saw and the rest on that jumbo plane was them! (From US & Europe) They aren’t worried about crime. Trust me!
It’s worth going to check it out j/s😊
