- Amber Heard's expert witness Catheryn Arnold was asked rapid-fire questions by Johnny Depp's attorney during the former couple's defamation trial. During on particular line of questioning, Depp's attorney noted the negative stories regarding feces allegedly left in Depp's bed and discussed with the witness how the negative coverage was unrelated to statements made by Depp's attorney Adam Waldman. Heard is countersuing Depp claiming the statements by Waldman calling her abuse accusations a hoax were defamatory and destroyed her acting career.

exactly! correlation analysis is a very basic statistic analysis that is used in many fields. I am surprised an expert can't even distinguish the difference of correlation and causation which is not a term in statistics.
I know, I was thinking to myself, ''listen, lady, if you're going to use words in this trial, you're going to need to know the difference between 'correlation and causation''.
lol guys when you’re a witness on a stand being cross-examined you want to avoid answering as many opposition questions as you can. She is doing what she’s supposed to.
Where on earth did AH's team find these 'expert' witnesses?

The negative decline in her career happened when the phone recording came out. And even more so when the world found out she didn’t donate the 7 million to charity. Waldman had nothing to do with it.

The lawyer here is quietly brilliant. The light stutter is actually very disarming. It gives people this idea that they can take him less seriously, and this man wields it like a freaking weapon. His soft spoken method and light speech impediment is just the mask over a razor wit and master legal cunning. Honestly, I was shocked how well he performed after first hearing him speak.

Also they have him do the more minor parts of the trial and witnesses. It’s less contentious. Had they had him cross Amber or Johnny there would have been a lot more activity from opposite counsel.
It was a tactic using Camille…woman to a woman. He is great with grilling this witnesses and Camille was also a killer during her cross on AH. They make an excellent team
He's a partner at the law firm representing Johnny, so this guy must be very well versed in trial.
Everyone going on about Mrs Vasquez which is cool but this lawyer is badass at slowly dismantling their points, made the male psychiatrist look like a psycho.
He's a far better attorney than Vasquez. She's childish and unprofessional. A lot of the lawyers, on both sides, in this trial are very unprofessional, but Vasquez is probably the worst.

When you are learning this type of interrogation, you learn that if you are getting under the skin of the witness then they let their story slip in favour of trying to fight you. Emotions take over.

The problem with this witness is that she's projecting Heard's "potential" loss of revenue "IF" her career skyrockets.
You cannot be certain her career would do so because there is not enough history for her.
This lady chose success stories as her baseline for what to expect for Heard going forward.
But there are so many failures she would have been just as wrong to compare Heard to.
Paul Hogan was so successful as Dundee and then his career tanked.
On the other side, Depp's team isn't projecting potential losses at all.
They are calculating losses based on projects Johnny was in line for that are on the table NOW.
This lady screams bias against Depp.
Amber is one of the strangest people I've ever heard of. Any decline in her popularity and acting career is because of her own doing, and something she'll never take responsibility for. The reason this trial is taking place and exposing what she's really like is her own fault because of the false accusations and lies she's made.
But amber continues to drag it out making it worse for herself, battling ever step of the way, gaslighting the world. She should have settled so the defacation didn't come out. That all on herself.

The judicial system needs to look at how hired “expert witnesses” is a major flaw in cases. It is hard to remain impartial when you are being paid big dollars by one party.

I love this lawyer, Wayne Dennison! He called this entertainment expert out for not knowing basic things about movies and actors she says she has analyzed, and been paid $60K and hasn't even met Heard. Dennison asked her if she knew who Patrick Wilson was, and she didn't know! If you're going to call yourself an expert and constantly repeat your 25 years of experience in entertainment, you should do your research! Patrick Wilson played a HUGE part in Aquaman! He was the ANTAGONIST, the VILLAIN (if you will) in Aquaman! This witness didn't even know about Heard's other film. 25 years of experience, and she is a so-called Expert Witness in this 2022 defamation case and she doesn't know popular movies or their lead actors! It's Wayne Dennison who brought that out. That's what a good lawyer does!

He did the same with the mental health expert (who was horrible). I wonder if that's Dennison's style. If it's a way of making these witnesses see the mistakes and contradictions in their testimonies and knowledge. I honestly think he's better than the other lawyers on the team, if I can compare. I mean, Vasquez is very reactive, I've noticed. She's quick, but could step up her game if she did more research and took the time to learn the lingo that is used and practiced in these witnesses' fields of profession. I mean, Dennison takes his time and is adorably (and perhaps deceptively bumbling in his speech, like Columbo, I'm tellin ya!), but he KNOWS what he's talking about. He surprises the witnesses with his knowledge. It's so entertaining!!!

He lost his role in Pirates 6 and in Fantastic Beasts 3, no? A logical person is able to deduce that its either one or the other, there were be consistency in cause and effect regardless of the individual

You say there’s a correlation between the Waldman statements and the reduction of contract offers, but neglect the correlation between audiences disliking an actor’s acting and studios not wanting to offer contracts to poorly received actors.

This is the only witness of Turds that I've actually felt bad for, she should have been hired by Johnny. She's actually very good. One of his tactics is to try to interrupt her, she stands her ground and doesn't let him disrespect her. She's trying to do her job.

So then by this womans exact logic, and her wording that she agreed to, EVERYTHING after amber posted the first moment of Johnny being abusive and everything else is a direct link to him losing millions of dollars worth of deals, and the halt of his career. Which clearly means that amber is guilty of defamation of character and slander, as well as purgury under oath.
That she dissagrees on ,it only works if it is Amber. Apperantly she thinks Johnny is just doing fine and didnt lose anything.
Unfortunately no. The argument isn't that it impacted him negatively, it's whether or not her statements were true. Libel is tricky, the core of it isn't the damage it's the truth of it. (Obviously it's more nuanced though)

While I agree there’s some major leaps in your logic. Everything really boils down to he said she said in this case, and unfortunately the jurors aren’t aware of the full scope of evidence we are seeing and which has led to an avalanche of support for Depp on social media. That being said Dennison is an excellent attorney and picks this woman’s testimony to shreds. But as to the foundation of the case that really is going to depend on what the jury is seeing and how they interpret it. Could still go either way.

AH is feeling the effects of her own actions. She never thought that anyone would question her jumping on the "victim of domestic abuse" bandwagon...karma got her for being the domestic abuser after claiming victim. She is pure evil and is getting what she deserves.
She mentions correlation at about 1:21, but when Johnny's lawyer reminds her that "correlation does not imply causation" she replies, "I'm not an expert in semantics."
Then, at around 3:05 she wants to rely on "statistical … analysis." The statement "Correlation does not imply causation." should be familiar to any high school student who's ever been taught any elementary statistics.
And she calls herself an expert.
I swear all of AH's witnesses were coached to look at the jury when answering.

Oh I think his delivery is a well planned device. He throws them off because they think he’s not in top of his game. Especially entertaining was his playing of the psychiatrist. He allowed that guy to talk on and on in his hostile and obviously biased way to burn Heard’s side’s minutes and let the natural consequences follow…those being his irritating those who had to listen including the jury. His digging in, over verbalizing, and high handedness aren’t winning him any points from any observers.
I've never heard of Waldman or his statements until just now, but heard the recordings of Amber arguing with Johnny and stating that she did hit him. So in my case, and I feel like many others, it's her actions and the truth that's wrecking her career.

I watched the whole cross examination, she was definitely having a field day feeling smug and dare I say even sneering at him, he kept his cool though and towards the end if you observe closely she became more serious, because he was going in with those questions..lol

This Witness handled the soft ball questions very well, indeed. However under cross examination, she got her rear-end handed to her. Why someone (A so-called Expert) would risk being in the spotlight (To get future $$$), but be publicly interrogated by Johnny's very capable team, without being "fully prepared" and coached is beyond me? ... Did she actually think this would be a walk in the park? This could very well effect their own business in adverse way. DUMB DUMB DUMB!

I'm not on Twitter and I had never heard of the waldman statements until this trial. I started disbelieving and disliking amber heard because of AMBER HEARD and her own actions, the videos online, the phone recordings of her, and I think that's pretty much how it went for most regular people. I so wish one of the attorneys would have just asked "isn't it possible that most people simply just don't like amber heard because of her own actions? Her recordings, her phone recordings?"

The arrogance of these “experts” that they don’t do that, and the arrogance of Miss Heard not only to do the same but also to keep staring into the camera, are stunning. Of course her actions are seemingly very much to do with her need for attention and sympathy from the jury. She must think she can sway them with her (supposed) acting ability.
