    Every 4wder has heard of the awesome tracks around Moore River, but many have trouble finding them! In this episode we head on to see what the area has to offer for overlanding and the off-road enthusiast as well as map out the best of the tracks. We encounter numerous river crossings, a serious recovery situation, getting lost, and avoiding the perils of the bush. And we have fun doing it!

    nice video mate, good presentation and great recovery with the tools you had as you mentioned winch would also have been my preferred recovery method but with your prep work the snatch recovery appeared very safe considering the suction and associated risks involved

      +MaZEEZaM That's right indeed, I've ventured out in a vehicle by myself a few times in the past, and the smallest situation can really turn into a massive headache without a winch or another vehicle!

      +Intents Offroad I know that feeling all to well. Was with a group of six vehicles and turned off the main highway before Guilderton and worked our way through farmland and found the river crossing in three places. On the last crossing the three vehicles in front of me managed to get through. As I was the 4th to go through and broke through the crust and sank to the floorboards and water up to the center console. Took two vehicles five attempts to get me out. On the 5th attempt my 4x4 broke through the clay base and shot out like a rabbit on the run.Insurance paid for new starter motor and new carpets plus air con compressor. Would like to know which route you guys took - if possible

    Ah the wonderful Moore River , which lulls you into a false sense of security. God knows how many times I have done this, and found various entry and exit points. At he 8.14 mark my 4runner took a nose dive as the front wheels broke through the crust . Took five attemps to get me out. Dirty water all inside the car . Not to mention the Air-con compressor being damaged. Insurance claim with new carpets and underlay, new aircon compressor and other items. Havent been back there for years, and I doubt that I could find my way there nowdays . Nice place to have a dip in the water but driver beware !!! :-)

    great work guys, reminds me of nearly losing my fourby off a dead end drop and found myself staring straight down at the beach through the heath at Wilbinga, was a solo night run and my second time there, convoy is paramount to survival, I was lucky, got my car back about a metre and a half using a bit of shrubbery and my canvas tarp before I saw headlights and salvation cause i'm not sure I would have got out alone. Love the editing and keep it shiny side up guys.

    Your Vid's are different than the other outback 4x4 adventure videos that I have seen because you are traveling with your wives, soul mates, and or significant others. The outing adventures that you post are more friendly, friends out having fun together, rather than a bunch of guys out on the tracks being macho conquering what would be imposable for the average person.

    Question for you guys : Has anyone gone to Muchea and done the trip along the RAAF boundry road ? Its 100 % legitimate , is about 20 Km in length and can take up to four hours. There are two very very tricky corners, one is a 90 degree left hander and the worst is a 90 degree right hander with a massive soft sand uphill climb. I have yet to find a chicken track that one can use. Finally it bring you out at the Pinjar Power station. On one run several years go, we left Muchea and within four km we came across four Patrols/Landcruisers all stuck in the sand. These guy were runing 35s and still couldnt get around the corner. Those of us who knew the track, took the high side of the corner , and then set about snatching the others out. I wouldnt recommend this track in the middle of summer unless you have a fridge or an esky filled with ice and cold water.Max Tarx are a must and anything you can think of. Havent done it for two or three years now, but would not do it on my own.

      @Alex.G  9 лет назад +1

      Tyler Nielsen At first I was like "what do you mean bow shackles are unsafe!" then I reflected upon it and I made a video on the topic. Thanks mate, and thanks for your comment :) here is the video : ruclips.net/video/As0RTB2aS64/видео.html

    • @jamespipez
      @jamespipez 9 лет назад

      Tyler Nielsen my thoughts exactly. If one of those straps goes with a shackle on it......very bad news. Don't forget, people have died recovering vehicles in the past. Otherwise a fun vid to watch.

    Nice recovery from the river, would be safer if you had chucked a dampener over the snatch just to stop it flinging into people / vehicles if it snaps...

    Awesome video, I am born and bred Sandgroper :) I am planning a trip from Darwin to Cape York in August and will be doing a video. My editing skills are lacking unlike yours so any tips tricks would be great. Also where do you get your music tracks from? I am after some that aren't copyrighted, or maybe I take a didgeridoo and harmonica and make my own (better start learning those).

    • @Alex.G
      @Alex.G  9 лет назад +2

      Thanks +Scott Murray, good to see another Sandgroper in the mix! That trip to Cape York will make an awesome video mate. I started editing in Imovie but moved to Final Cut Pro X because I knew I might reach the limitations of Imovie pretty quick. I had a huge amount of video footage, four 40 minute episodes from another trip to edit so I used them to learn Final Cut on and used RUclips tutorials to learn as I went. As for the music, look for an artist that offers their work free under an attribution license. My favourite is Kevin Macleod and you can find his work at incompetech.com :)

      Intents Offroad Thanks alot for this information I am looking forward to my trip and will be doing some quicker ones and will trial Final Cut Pro X, I too am currently using iMovie.

      @MaZEEZaM 9 лет назад +2

      +Intents Offroad you should send a copy of your trips to Nissan, Toyota and parts manufacturers see if you can get product sponsors. Your editing and videos generally are very professional and entertaining. Please don't opt for a tv show though as they would spoil it with ads. 🐙

    • @Alex.G
      @Alex.G  9 лет назад +1

      MaZEEZaM I like your thinking! And thanks for such kind comments about the videos :) Maybe one day we'll get there, but like you say; I'm in no hurry to "sell out".

    • @MaZEEZaM
      @MaZEEZaM 9 лет назад

      Yeah, though I think you can get the parts and perhaps put a few decals on the 4WD without spoiling anything or turning it into some big advert. Spose it depends on what the manufacturers ask in return. I think in the case of 4WD gear people are more forgiving as they also have an interests in hearing about and hoping to own those parts for their own vehicles unlike crappy ads for stuff that for the most part no one wants or needs.
