Before beginning to change the oil filter on this car , make sure you'll have the right oil filter socket with the adaptors to fit ,

Hey Bud good job! Thanks for showing me where it all is.
A tip my mechanic showed me many, many years ago, pound (drive, hammer, puncture) a screwdriver through the oil filter if stuck. Use the screw driver handle as a long lever to free that oil filter. Its not pretty, but it has worked for me quite often.
Pound (pierce) the oil filter with a long screw driver (not your favorite one, the one you borrowed but forgot to return). Just hammer it right through. Use the screw driver to give you leverage to twist that sucka loose. Messy, but it works.
Take a drop of oil and smear it on the new filter's rubber gasket and threads. Don't go all "Hulk Smash" to put it on.
I've had to do that several times, but it creates some nasty sharp edges, it's Ok with a little care though
Excellent! I had the same problem with a Kawasaki ZZR1400 filter, had to use the screw driver through the body technique... That said I now have a socket type tool and it's worked great every time.
Good tip about pushing the bolt in after loosening. I bought an oil filter wrench for this car and worked for me. It’s adjustable and can be used on any oil filters and it might save you the hassle of stripping the front of the engine bay 😀
I ordered a kit with hopefully all the adaptors :)
doit_vehicles just to ask.... I noticed you used 5w30. I had mine changed with 5w40 added rather than the 30. Is that actually ok to do that and is there a huge difference between these grades?
@@Tonysteele2 The recomended viscosity will slightly vary depending on the maximum and minimum temperature ; It's good to follow what is recommended for that engine . So I used 5w 30 as the owner said , I did not reserch about that 😅 And the main difference betwen 5w 30 and 5w 40 is the viscosity when the engine is hot / hot environment like 40 degrees C . Here were I live there are few weeks in the year with around 30 degrees C ; so 30 will be more thin than 40 on a hot day and since there are not meny hot days , the "5w" is more important to keep it on .. At least that's my understanding
doit_vehicles great help thanks again 😀
Good and simple video, thanks!
Run engine for 15 minutes first, oil filter will remove a lot easier when warm
Also the oil drains better when hot
Might be a little too hot in 15 minutes. Warm is good enough.
Put oil in the car . See the levels . Start te car like 2 minuts. See the level . U need put more oil because oil filter its empty when u put in the car and the filter absorbs some oil to
You say to use 5w 30 oil, but you're using 5w 40. Which is it?
For this car is recomended 5w30 , but for some reason where I live the previous owners used 5w40 ..
@@doit_vehicles But you can just use 5W30 even if previous owners used 5W40. Maybe the engine will run a bit smoother if you are lucky.
But most of the time a car dealer doesn't care if engine needs 5W30 or 5W40 they just put some in it
1.0 litre VW DLA engine,
MANN filter code 712/95
MAHLE filter code 977/1
Oil fill qty 4 litres with new oil filter.
I think, if you don't know how to open the hood on the up. You shouldn't even think about to change the oil!
I own the same car, I have noticed that mine after 5000 kms uses about 145ml. Of engine oil, my question would you considered this normal? My engine is almost over 100,000 kms.
@Tone. thanks I really appreciate it
What was the answer ?
Great video. I also have an up! and a video showing how to change the oil
Nice :) The VW up is not mine though
Как в роботе в коробке масло в такой машине поменять? Есть ли ньюансы?
Pls add more vid for vw cars.
You need to NOT put all the oil recommended when filter changing but only the quantity WITHOUT filter changing. Then run the engine for like 5/10 seconds to let the filter fill up and THEN put in the remaining quantity recommended with the filter change, then run the engine for 5/10 seconds and let it settle for about two minutes. Then check oil level and see if it's good.
Dove si carica l'olio cambio ww up
What size key do I need to remove the oil filter?
Screwdriver through it and turn
why damage the oilfilter and not removing it?
it was removed off camera
@@doit_vehicles ok, makes sense also
When i opened the oil cap i noticed a vacuum on running engine! Is that normal???
Was it vacuum sucking inn air or the air was pushed out of the engine 🤔
@@doit_vehicles Sucking inn, yeah! If i try to remove the oil cap when engine is running idle she sticks like a magnet to the valve cover! Same if i try to took out the oil stick! Is that normal ?
@@encopaintmaster6551 I never seen something like that . I don't think it's possible
Because if the engine will have that it means it's way out of timing / massive internal intake vaccum leak which will cause the engine to not idle .
at least that's what I can tell in theory , I might be wrong though ..
i've heard that Castrol Edge Professional LongLife III can last 30 000 kilometers, can someone confirm that
I would not go 30 000 km especially on a gasoline engine
Oil can but dirty oil causes more wear.
putting the car on jacks means that not all the used oil does come out
if the drain plug would be on the front side of the oil sump pan , maybe
@@doit_vehicles makes sense, thnx
Hate the oil filter placement on these cars 😡
I know ..
