  • Today's daily update video from South Africa is from 18 September 2024. In this video, we start with a big rainstorm in Bloemfontein in South Africa today. Then more rain in Richards Bay and also in Jan Kempdorp. Big traffic jam in Waterkloof, Pretoria. We drive around the streets of Johannesburg Central. Calm seas at Plettenberg Bay. Lions and elephants in the Pilanesberg Nature Reserve. We check out Cape Town, Robben Island and False Bay from Devil’s Peak Blockhouse. Stop for coffee and something to eat at Elvis Blue coffee shop in George. We went and checked out the warm water pools at Natal Spa near Paulpietersburg, and we will visit several more places across South Africa.
Here's a short weather forecast for South Africa today:
A Cut-off low pressure system is making its way out of the country by Wednesday, bringing with it morning showers and big thunderstorms that will sweep across the Eastern Cape Province and KwaZulu-Natal Province. A cold front is set to hit the south-west coast this afternoon, bringing much cooler temperatures and showers to the Western Cape Province. Stay tuned for updates on how this weather change will impact the area!
Get ready for some intense weather! Severe thunderstorms are on the way, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and even small hail. This could lead to localised flooding on vulnerable roads and bridges, as well as potential damage to infrastructure and communities across central and southern Kwa-Zulu Natal Province during the morning. Stay safe and keep an eye on the forecast! This afternoon, we're expecting damaging winds and waves from Saldanha Bay all the way to Plettenberg Bay, and it looks like this will continue into tomorrow. Stay safe out there!

This video shows a few more clips from around South Africa, including Pafuri Rest Camp and bird hide at Punda Maria Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park. Drive along and shop just outside of Maputo in our neighbouring country Mozambique. Pafuri, the most northern rest camp, guest house accommodates eight people, and is very close to Crook's corner in the Kruger National Park, and we ended today's video with the setting moon with a partial eclipse in Blue Horizon Bay in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa.
