I have the same exact Benro, and I just want to let you know that you can remove the ball head by completely loosen the grip knob on the ball head then forcefully pull the entire ball head. The ball head will come off but you can still attach it again, hope this helps.
Have you tried putting your phone on it, camera facing down with the selfie stick extended with the tripod legs on the ground? I want to use it for an overhead shot to do tutorials but im afraid it might tip over...
BIG G - Did you have any luck getting the ball head off? I'm about to buy one & want it off for, like you, a 360 cam. I emailed Benro & they said it doesn't come off so...? Thanks

I could never get it off. Interestingly, the leg broke and so now I cannot use it as a tripod

Was going to get it for my DSLR since its so compact... but on the other hand, it does look flimsy.
