    I think NYS lists 6 lamprey species with yup to all of them being native. The Sea lamprey is the one people hate and used to be thought of as invasive. I'm the St Lawrence and Champlain it's thought it might be native. Though it is considered to be invasive in the fingers lakes, I don't know my identification to know which one of two or three species that one could have been. Not sure other than snakehead if NY has a "kill if caught" on any other species.

  • @fishinfromscratch5484

    Man, it amazes me how different the brown trout are geographically. Here in western NC the brown average 13 inches with anything 20 and up being trophy size. We do get some large fish but they are VERY rare in public waters.

    • @crazyfingers19
      @crazyfingers19 3 года назад +1

      It has more to do with the topography than the geography. The Finger Lakes are deep. Over 100' in a V shape. Seems to be custom made to grow huge fish. Fish in moving water generally don't get that big. More hazards to live through. There are exceptions of course and they are all fun to catch. 🐡🐡🐡🐡

    • @crazyfingers19
      @crazyfingers19 3 года назад +1

      Plus, although the Finger Lakes are beautiful, it doesn't get much better than chasing native trout on the streams of western NC. I remember fishing some random stream near Chimney Rock. Beautiful and a damn good time.

    • @fishinfromscratch5484
      @fishinfromscratch5484 3 года назад +1

      We have lakes that hold trout species but they don't get anywhere near the size of the northern fish. I've caught browns in multiple states and IMO the western fish are the most fun. Very energetic and healthy.

May never get back up there to fish. I love how you don’t let a big fish get you out of your game. I have seen people lose big fish just be cause they panic and do dumb stuff. Great video.
