I could never do that at my age (62), but I could totally live in one if one was made for me, and I would be very content. Would be an excellent lifestyle in my declining years, simple and quiet.
I'm 65 and would love to do this but as a frail five foot tall female it would be considerably harder. However, there may come a time when we HAVE to do it and you and I will have an advantage over those who don't know how, we'll supervise the young ones LOL!
From the balsamic smells of forest flowers, herbs, needles and bark, fatigue disappears. The great power of life is visible in everything: in the fluctuation of peaks, in the whistle of birds, in soft lighting.
This video is inspirational Sir! I've got 5 acres of heavily wooded land in the Salish Sea basin - We are planning to build a small cluster of log structures, and this design and construction method is perfect .

Great job keeping it purely woodsy. Bushcraft is all about using what is available in the surrounding area. This is bushcraft in its purest form. The only cheat was using the tarp for your roof. I suppose one could make cedar shakes/shingles, cut purlins, and create a 100% bushcraft building but I'm impressed with the skills and precision of the build.
Easily among the very best bushcraft log cabin builds on the internet! Carefully planned and calculated and built with professionalism and forethought! Excellent!
An outstanding Cabin you have made their partner. Oh, the bigger the wood stove the less times you have to wake up in the middle of a freezing night to feed the Dag-gone thing. The smaller wood stoves are ravenous and require feeding very often. Other than that, I'd be quite comfortable living in your very well-built cabin. I am getting ready to erect a split rail fence along my driveway. The lumber comes pre-measured and precut to order and it came with a price tag that makes you want to cry, but that's the modern world for you. Besides that, I'm 70 years young now so I have to cheat some to get done what I want. I enjoy your video very much!!!!!
There was a Scandinavian company called Jotul, that made wonderful little woodstoves that heated for very long periods with a minimum of fuel. The prices were quite high, but so was the quality. Don't know if they're still in business though.
Great video! Nice showcasing on how to build a cabin without any power tools! Love the sound of an extra-sharp saw eating through those big wooden logs! Likewise the auger drill going through! Love the totally relaxed look on the dog's face! She's such a content animal. I appreciate that this video was not about the dog, so I'm happy to just see the dog on and off throughout the video in such a good shape. Thanks for sharing!
I've been watching you on Mike's channel, TA Outdoors, for a LONG time and I've always meant to get over here and check yours out. Then I'd finish the TA video and forget all about it... Old age, you know. Lol. SO glad this video popped up in my feed and NOW I'm a subscriber and will be here for future videos! Only about 20 minutes into this one and I'm loving it, so far!
Thank you for sharing your expertise in building log cabin and living in the wood.. At my age I would never start to pick up such new hobbies. But I love dreaming about it. And that in itself giving me happiness and excitement. Thank you again.
I've watched this three times- I love the door, the building is fantastic, and motivating. I own and live in a Cedar Wood cabin and I got busy getting the deck prepared for sealing this summer- yeah, it's motivating to work along with the video and watch it at the same time. Good job, Victoria. . . !!!!!!!
Love that folded saw it looks like a great one I've always wanted one but they don't have that size where I live 😂 buy the way your cabin looks beautiful great job 😊
Good to see you sir! Glad you still here, I really love your work and everything.. and your shelter. I would like to do what your doing, building shelter like that. Maybe in my next life. God bless you sir! Have been viewing from the Midwest......
It's so enjoyable to watch this build again and this time in the one episode. Who can forget the epic cookingoodinthewoods cookups and Amber's antics as well. LEGEND. ❤
I owned a half mile long timber lot in the 90's. For the sole purpose of building a tree-house. I hurt no timber in doing so. Rigged it for SRT, for ascent, descent, and hauling construction materials, A week long build job by myself. For summer use. Sold the land to assist my speleology interests. I continue to renew my SRT gear using Wes Spur Tree Equipment.
These videos are so satisfying. You make me wanna live in the woods right now. Incredible. What a dream to live like that. I’d love to see you build a little art shed in the woods with a home built easel and drafting table.
@@BUSHCRAFTTOOLS where in England are you? My family is in Stroud and Bristol. Never been camping in England but one of the coolest experiences was when my cousins took me to an old abandon castle and we walked through the woods….I was wondering why the woods smelled like garlic. It's a great video, great skills and great living. I adore it. Only one thing I'd like to see: Giving food to your dog ! At least once during the whole film.
Yep, me too. My only criticism of his otherwise excellent editing. You can tell that’s a healthy, well fed dog, but I’d like to see him get some dinner on the video.
Very good job. Straight forward, very informative, and awesome job being cool during the whole thing. Dog was happy too, minus him not getting any of them burgers! 😂
Thats incredible how you saw all those logs with that hand saw. Impressive!!! New sub. Does the dog get to eat? Lol. I have sister labs that look alot like yours. Mine are black. Your a stud builder. Great job.

Love the dog, kinda neat how you use what you had around you for the build. Nicely done. Hope the pup got treats 🐾
Well he can't use what ISN'T around him 🤦🏼
