You are the tops! I know I'll end up listening to each one again and again, as I did with my old Holmes collection. Thanks for all your trouble. You made Thanksgiving bearable...
"Oh! I am glad to know that, because I always like to be put right when I am wrong" - Rosa Dartle the Queen of sarcasm. Charles Dickens in David Copperfield.
Love these clever stories and even the strange monotone of the delivery. NB the British navy rank is pronounced ‘leftenant’ not ‘lootenant’ - that’s American and they ‘stand at ease’ not ‘stand easy’ I believe?
The story was excellent, well plotted and written and very well narrated. The only thing that I dislike about it was how everyone, including Dr. Watson, thought it was so funny that Holmes was taken in by a scheming woman. I think the title was not only talking about the dogs. Holmes was very humiliated by being used by Violet, and even Dr. Watson showed him no understanding. It is ironic that Watson himself had expressed the desire that Holmes might find a woman he could love earlier in the story. Well, that is hardly likely to happen after he was used by the bitch who took advantage of him, depended on his protection, and even in the end, depended on him to save her life. For which service she offered him no reward, not even an honest apology. Her lack of shame at having hurt Holmes rather determines her character I think. Take note that when Holmes will no longer have anything to do with her, she turns around and marries a suitor who she had previously rejected. Using and taking advantage of other people to get what you want is not an admirable characteristic and does not make for a character that I can sympathize with.
Let me assure you, dear listeners, under no circumstances do educated young English women suddenly "emmigrate to Philadelphia". Why, the very notion of such an alarming occurrence is an appalling violation of all that is decent and noble in this fair country of ours.
Thank you for posting these here! I am enjoying them immensely.
Excellent Holmesian story, well delivered and one of my favourites. THANKS,

The joke at 1.13 is hilarious. I only regret it is too complicated to remember!
One of the funniest openings , even after a third listen. Thanks.
Very entertaining!
Thank you!

1:09:26 The one thing cocaine will absolutely not do is put any animal asleep.
But I didn't completely understand what was going to happen to the two women in the basement and why were they naked?
Bcz CSC will pursue any route to titillation he can imagine.

You do realize the book is fiction, don’t you?
Different theme than the Television version but entertaining. ❤️
great, unknown , but delicious
i'd still avoid Philly tho.
Using Holmes' 7 % solution of cocaine seems to be wrong as a means of lulling a dog into passivity.. launnum would seem a better choice.
3:00 - 19:00 New Title- The Adventures of The Baker St Bitches 😂😂😂
