A really subtle detail in this episode, Thrawn changes tactics after Sato’s sacrifice because holding the line and grinding the rebel fleet down will not work against Hera, now that she is in command. Commander Sato was an aggressive line officer who preferred action over maneuver, and had a habit of committing to a fight even when withdrawal would have been a better option. Remember how Sato acted against Darth Vader and how he jumped in to save his nephew at Mykopo. Hera, on the other hand, is a skilled pilot who learned tactics at the knee of her father, an accomplished geurrilla fighter. Captain Syndula would have pulled back and sought a way to escape, and with many of the larger capital ships gone stood a decent chance of getting critical personnel out of Thrawn’s trap, thus allowing the rebels to survive. Wounded, but very much capable of rebuilding. To prevent this Thrawn presses the attack to drive Hera to ground where her skill as a pilot has less or no bearing and the Empire’s numerical personnel superiority can come into play. We are seeing that Thrawn has been studying his opponents, as he states, and is adapting his plans to counter them specifically.
Yeah. Wait he’s an Asian looking character therefore by conservatives standards even if well written is woke!!!... oh wait yeah also fun fact Star Wars always was very progressive and even pro communist lol. No joke George Lucas literally is very progressive and based the rebel alliance on the Vietcong communist party vs the United States empire....so if you love the rebel alliance...u kinda are in support of good people/ leftist in general and are pro democracy and anti FACIST and pro socialist ideals. It’s crazy how some “fans” are conservatives yet the franchise literally is progressive and pro leftist ideals.... I mean I’m not trying to gate keep but if a conservative loves the rebel alliance they contradict their political worldview and they can’t say untrue and bad stuff about antifa again. Also antifa isn’t like the rebel alliance since it’s just anti FACIST the ideology it’s not an organization unfortunately yet.
Jun Sato did it first, before Holdo, as Kanan did before Leia, Force flying in space... seems like Rebels inspired some live action moments there. Great reaction!
I would’ve preferred to have him die at the end of Iron Squadron. It would’ve been the perfect opportunity for Thrawn to show off his cunning ruthlessness.
It's also interesting that Green Squad does at Atilon and Blue Squad dies at Scariff- leaving only most of Gold and Red Squads to attack the Deathstar.

Can't wait for part two! This episode (part 2 included) is my favorite by far. Already we have perfect Thrawn dialogue, a superb space battle, Thrawn personally arresting Kallus, Cmdr Sato's epic and saddening sacrifice to knock out an Interdictor (may he rest in peace), and we're (finally) rid of the incompetent Adm Konstantine, who got what was coming to him. This episode may be my preferred of this two part episode, but that's mainly for the space battle. The next part is just as good tbh, maybe even better.
I love this episode! Such a noble and touching sacrifice of J. Sato. R.I.P. Konstantine was such a fool, but it's good for our rebelion. Thrawn is really great, poor Kalus, forced to look at this masacre. Everything was just great. I love Your reaction.
Many people say the S2 finale overshadows every other episode of Rebels, but I must say I heavily disagree. This finale, and quite a fair bit of episodes of S4 are just overall significantly better. The most obvious factor that plays in with this is that there are no Inquisicopters to bug you, which really is my only issue with ToTA. I must say that first exchange between Kanan and Ezra expressing their gratitude for each others is one of my personal favorite scenes in the series. It's incredibly touching seeing two characters who've grown so much together tell each others how they feel about, well, everything really!
This episode revealed the first of canon Thrawn's two weaknesses: placing too much trust on heavily-flawed underlings.

How to be ominous: "Thrawn knows about-"
Yeah rebels is a great woke show just like the clone wars both are leftist in ideals and are progressive as heck awesome.
rip Jun Sato wow that was top notch animation that collision

General Dodonna was the man who gave the Death Star attack briefing in A New Hope.
Great episode and if you think it stops here buckle in. It only gets better and better.
I was so sad to see Commander Sato die. He was such an amazing character!

The ravaging of the fleet before they can attack Lothal ties back to Episode IV, as the Death Star plans were the first victory for the Rebellion.
