what I noticed about college....
(unless you're smart like mensa smart)
whoever adjusts the quickest wins.
that person has the best gpa, transcript, connections, recommendations, etc.
if you're slow at adjusting, it'll come to you eventually. Don't stress yourself out. take things one at a time.
im gonna major in art.. and obviously ppl judge straight away, assuming i wont have a future, im stupid, im weird, etc. im not even in college yet and even my relatives are already disappointed.. so much for "doing what you love and loving what you do" -_-
go for it theres tons of things you can do with an art degree from graphic designs to advertisements, animation, illustrations, magazines, books, architecture soooooo much more. As they say you dont know what fits you until you experience alot more than what you know about

I am in 4th year of engineering.
And deep down we respect your course, and we think it's unfair you have to pay so much when you have so few lectures and require no lab equipment.
We are just jealous that you have a life, while we have lessons and library all day every day.
Also we hate our own course, 120 hours a week for 4 years is more than enough, 90% of us will never apply for engineering based jobs. We are jealous that people out there, enjoy university. To us it is like someone enjoying war or being tortured.
And I have personally helped people studying media, art and social science subjects with their revision, and although the content is super easy, the exams are actually horribly hard.
Saying that of all the people I know who have graduated, only those doing engineering subjects have managed to get good jobs (others have applied for postgraduate or just work as a store clerk).
Salma IBRAHIM I'm majoring in biology too (entering fall 2015 like you!) and I feel the pressure too.
Biology is hard, because you can either go to MED school, or you get a B.S, which is worth very little in the real world. Just gotta hope that we do good in school...

I went in as Pre-med. I won't lie it is intense. I did switch from being a bio major to Kinesiology, but the cool thing is that you learn a lot more about what is out there besides just "doctor". Good luck! ( I wanna be a PA or Physical Therapist now)
Eric Nguyen I took a lot of college science classes in high school and even though I'm not in high school now i still feel the need to study so I still study for fun. I am weird ;-; I don't know what I want to Major in yet. I know I'm minoring in russian. I might major in biology just because I got an A in the AP Biology and it makes sense to me.
This was very helpful!!! I'm glad you chose to talk about things such as peer pressure; that's something people need to talk about more. It got to me because I'm afraid to go to university and encounter those "dangerous" things. I'm like a really calm and peaceful girl. I don't party, drink, etc, so your advice was really great. katizzzletalks lol my high schools the opposite, they end up preparing the students too much for college that it ends up being ridiculous because many kids who grad from my high school say college is so much easier.

Peer pressure part is sooo true every party I go to people smoking and drinking I was peer pressured a lot during my first semester to drink but I no longer mess with the same people I did thanks for the vid :)

This is actually interesting because i am in 9th grade and my geometry teacher gave us a mid quarter test and a final and that was our entire grade. Many people hated him for that but i liked this and hope it will be like that in whatever classes i take in whatever classes i attend.

a few things to note about midterms and finals NOT ALL INSTRUCTORS GIVE THEM (BOTH MIDTERMS AND FINALS), some instructors will let you drop the lowest test grade (some will allow you to drop the final), you can be exempt from finals in college. other things to note make sure your instructors if at all possible know you for who you are
I'm not sure if that's something I would want to know before college. In my entire college career so far, I've only had two courses without midterms/finals. And I had major projects in place of them. It really depends, and it's really rare at my school.

What you said about a lot of things being unavoidable in college is not really true. You can easily avoid those things. College is pretty much an over glorified larger more stuck up version of high school. As long as you are true to yourself and have integrity, nothing will phase you. For example, if you want to drink, then obviously you will find many people who drink and then so on. If you are looking to do drugs, you will find many who do and get sucked into that. However, if you do not do those things, it is very rare that those things ever pop up unless you are specifically looking for trouble. No one can make you do something you don't want to do. If someone offers you anything, just say no and walk away, aka, be a normal functioning adult... Don't try to be friends with people just because you don't want to be alone. Screw other people. I have never had to deal with drugs, alcohol, abuse, etc in college. Only those who associate themselves with those people or are looking for that trouble to begin with will deal with it. The worst that will happen to you if you avoid those things is hear about it from gossip, etc. Not a big deal. People are just so weak these days and can't think for themselves. They just want to be cool, especially as a freshman. Grow a back bone and stop being a people pleaser tool.

Finished my freshman year a few months ago and starting my sophomore year...and I can say all of these definitely spot-on tips, at least from my experience lol. It's all about study habits, I learned that the hard way after my grades took the beating, and just spot-on haha great video!

I just saw your College Talk #1 yesterday and immediately subscribed! These are awesome since I'm an international student who will be in college next year and I'm pretty, no srsly SUPER nervous since I'm not even familiar with American's high school life...jus heard that its much more crazy and fun than it is in my country. Not in college anymore, but I totally agree that your major is your identity and that high school does not matter anymore. But I am of the "college was the best 4 years" opinion. I loved it. If it weren't for all the papers and the reminder that mid-terms/finals ARE your grade, I might want to go back for grad school. PS. I love your nails! Very cute.

what I learned from freshman orientation: you will constantly be asked "What's your name?", "What's your major?", and "Where are you from?" I think I just need to carry around a neon sign on my bag just so people would stop asking those questions over, and over, and over again.

I know I'm just a freshman, but so far I have experienced zero peer pressure. It's probably because I live like a hermit in my dorm, entertaining myself with You-Tube, and I don't have a roommate. As for the whole freshman fifteen thing, at first I started gaining wait, but now I think I've reached my limit because I've started to experience indigestion when I eat too much.

Hey girl :) I feel like letting u know that I hate science, love Harry Potter & Hunger Games, hate drinking and can't understand why "I don't want to" isn't a good enough answer, am a dancer (esp. hip hop), love being anonymous in a giant classroom, didn't have interest in being friends with my suitemates, etc etc. Haha we're pretty similar and I've only watched a few of ur vids so far.
