First time hearing this piece was in first year of high school in England in 1956, my English teacher told the class to close their eyes and listen, we then had to write a short essay describing what we imagined from listening. I remember vividly the pictures that came to my mind. Baby lambs frolicking across lush green meadows in early Spring. Still my favourite classical piece to this day.
Basically I found this song while practicing on my flute and I just loved it so much I decided to look for it, it sounded very familiar too and I didn’t have much of a problem finding it because it was just in my book lmao

I have always loved this as a teenager studying music not well and failed. I also heard it on an advert. Hearing Peer Gynt and listening more intensely makes me love itore!
Imagine waking up and leaving the shit earth we are in today and going to a different world and seeing a big open place with animals playing around peacefully and seeing butterfly's that pick you up and take you to an even better paradise...
Allen Wang Well he was Norwegian and this is about the best of Norwegian nature in spring in the morning with a cup of coffie and see the sun wake up...... lovely after a long dark winter.
Do not forget that some of the worlds prettiest people come from Norway according to world surveys, who would not wake up happy after a long slumbering winter with a pretty wife and beautiful children to make it all worthwhile lol.
@@anguv that is incorrecto. According to wikipedia: The piece depicts the rising of the sun during act 4, scene 4, of Ibsen's play, which finds Peer Gynt stranded in the Moroccan desert after his companions took his yacht and abandoned him there while he slept. The scene begins with the following description: "Dawn. Acacias and palm trees. Peer [Gynt] is sitting in his tree using a wrenched-off branch to defend himself against a group of monkeys."[2] As the Peer Gynt suites take their pieces out of the original context of the play, "Morning Mood" is not widely known in its original setting, and images of Grieg's Scandinavian origins more frequently spring to the minds of its listeners than those of the desert it was written to depict
I wanted this music for my brother’s funeral in 2016, but his widow, and my youngest sister, said it was too depressing. Sadly, cancer claimed the life of my sister-in-law in February 2021, nine days later my youngest sister also succumbed to cancer.
Im so sorry for your loss. That’s rough with two in such a short time:( Here in Norway the spring (våren) is very common to use at funerals. But it’s more sad sounding than morning mood I think. For me this is more an uplifting song.
My father had us kids listen to classical, and this was one of his favorites. When passed away, this music brought me just great comfort in the months following. It has the heavy sound of sadness like when someone passes and those left behind grieve, yet then the sound is like little birds flying away. Then the sound of grandeur of the sky opening up to accept the lost soul into heaven, then evens the music out to those who celebrate the life.
erik svensson agree Erik..to a point......but i believe that music enhances and not divides our enviroment.....and its that rare medium that is shared between people....a person with a mobile- 'hang on, have to take this call' or 'have to answer this text.'........doesn't happen with music....music is personal in a personal situation sure,[ headphones ]... but, have you ever gone to a concert and seen just one person appreciating the sound?...its a communal medium...not solitary such as phones etc....
+Alan Springett I think music works as a form of meditation, or as meditation. When you listen to a beautiful melody you forget yourself, your problems, your sorrows, your pains and so on, when you really listen you become one with the music and when you are the past does not matter anymore. When you are one with it you can't be lonely, cus there is no separation, there is only one, you can only feel lonely when you feel yourself as an individual, a separate being from the rest of the Universe. :)
I’ve finally found it, my journey has finally met its end. I found it. My life doesn’t have any grander purpose, I’ve done everything I’ve needed to do. There is nothing I need to do anymore. YES. *kisses the ground*

I miss those perfect summer mornings, where you'd just wake up to a room filled to the brim with natural summer sunlight, then go down to stairs, and your mom is already down there, and for the next hour you watch tv, then maybe go somewhere outside. This song reminds me of those days.
All my life, 18 Years, I've heard bits of this marvelous piece, and yet I couldn't find it. Now I may rest easy, knowing that I can find again, this great tune.
I read in a comments section Alex Lifeson of Rush was inspired by this music when creating the opening riff in the song The Spirit of Radio. I can't find any statement by Alex to confirm, but if you double the playback speed you can imagine it's true, and then there's the lyric in the song: "And the magic music makes your morning mood."
If you think you heard it somewhere…the answer is yes. It’s been used in a million places for over 100 years. Perfect for that breakfast commercial, toothpaste, anything. One of the all time classics of classical music. The sound of morning. Grieg should be as famous as Beethoven and Mozart.

Something tells me Grieg was a morning person...
Allen Wang Well he was Norwegian and this is about the best of Norwegian nature in spring in the morning with a cup of coffie and see the sun wake up...... lovely after a long dark winter.
*smells coffee grounds* mmmmm......
Do not forget that some of the worlds prettiest people come from Norway according to world surveys, who would not wake up happy after a long slumbering winter with a pretty wife and beautiful children to make it all worthwhile lol.
@@anguv that is incorrecto. According to wikipedia:
The piece depicts the rising of the sun during act 4, scene 4, of Ibsen's play, which finds Peer Gynt stranded in the Moroccan desert after his companions took his yacht and abandoned him there while he slept. The scene begins with the following description: "Dawn. Acacias and palm trees. Peer [Gynt] is sitting in his tree using a wrenched-off branch to defend himself against a group of monkeys."[2]
As the Peer Gynt suites take their pieces out of the original context of the play, "Morning Mood" is not widely known in its original setting, and images of Grieg's Scandinavian origins more frequently spring to the minds of its listeners than those of the desert it was written to depict
Like most norwegians OH no.. We are not..
That’s rough with two in such a short time:(
Here in Norway the spring (våren) is very common to use at funerals. But it’s more sad sounding than morning mood I think. For me this is more an uplifting song.
I’m so sorry you had to go through that, I hope your better now.
Im sorry. Cancer is such a sibling-taking bitch and hopefully, we can get a cure for all those people to help
That escalated quickly
Did you play it at their funerals?

My father had us kids listen to classical, and this was one of his favorites. When passed away, this music brought me just great comfort in the months following. It has the heavy sound of sadness like when someone passes and those left behind grieve, yet then the sound is like little birds flying away. Then the sound of grandeur of the sky opening up to accept the lost soul into heaven, then evens the music out to those who celebrate the life.
Death only hurts those who are left behind. You will be reunited.

without music we are in a lonely place....
+Alan Springett its not the world that is lonely its we that enclose ourselves with music social medias phones and such entertainments :)
erik svensson agree Erik..to a point......but i believe that music enhances and not divides our enviroment.....and its that rare medium that is shared between people....a person with a mobile- 'hang on, have to take this call' or 'have to answer this text.'........doesn't happen with music....music is personal in a personal situation sure,[ headphones ]... but, have you ever gone to a concert and seen just one person appreciating the sound?...its a communal medium...not solitary such as phones etc....

Often, when I wake up in the morning and open the window Infront of my bed and I put this masterpiece of art It makes me feel so alive. There is a big tree in front of my bedroom full of birds and when I turn on the stereo and play these kind of music it seem they like it a lot because they all sing and seem so happyly. It makes me cry of happiness!!

If you think you heard it somewhere…the answer is yes. It’s been used in a million places for over 100 years. Perfect for that breakfast commercial, toothpaste, anything. One of the all time classics of classical music. The sound of morning. Grieg should be as famous as Beethoven and Mozart.
He is actually more famous around the world than I thought he was when we learned about him in school. Or at least his work is, everyone have heard this song and I Dovregubbens hall (In the Hall of the Mountain King). Same for Henrik Ibsen, I thought it was only here in Norway they were famous, but their work is famous all over the developed world.
