Hubert Laws deserves an international award. The best of the best ever in composers, arrangers and players. My hero. Touched my soul since very young and got to meet H. L. and see his gold headjoint Muramatsu. Gentleman and maestro!
having a rough day your the cure!!!! as you are an older man lol. im 61 young lol. You speak interesting wisdom about the worlds or daily life. You did that in Nyack awhile ago . lost a friend the other day he was born in 1939 music helps one thru such times. thanks as always stay safe stay well
Ugh, the way the violin and the flute match up at 24:00 tickles my brain just the right way. And the vibrato and articulation add to the style of it so much, it's incredible. I also very much appreciate how he uses a good portion of his range on the flute while still keeping the same kind of melody and rythym and feel of it. Hubert Laws is an amazing musician ❤️
Mongo Santamaria with Hubert Laws, and Mauricio Smith, Sr. (RIP) on flutes in the '60's. with their Afro-Cuban rhythms... Check out "Sittin' On The Dock Of A Bay" and "Up, Up And Away" by them. With Mongo, Hubert Laws also doubled on Tenor Saxophone - '60's; he is a product of Juilliard Music School, New York, New York. Shout out to his teachers Julius Baker and Samuel Baron, classical virtuosos of Juilliard. Peace be upon them! Even then, Hubert had already acquired his sound and and(classical) technique. His tonal quality and technique are amazing. If you adore Hubert Laws, the classical "Jazzician", as much as I do, you will also love: Mauricio Smith, Sr. Joe Farrell Eddie Daniels Dave Valentine Kent Jordan Gerald Beckett, among others. Lohvissimo!
British Orchestras are renowned for reading newspapers as well and looking at their watches. Yeah, it's just a job to them. Like most classical players - just well oiled machines, and they all seem to have the same'Classical' flute sound. Impossible to tell them apart. Profi flutist, more than 50 years.
Qué desproporcionado!! Grande🎉 thanks por compartir
Hubert Laws never gets old, and his music is also always fresh and beautiful!

Maestro HUBERT LAWS!
Always a class act. I have lots of practicing to do on the flute.
As Ronnie Laws said, Hubert is in and of an elite class of musicians.
Thank you so much for this, it was fabulous! He's the best!
Came here for the flute and couldn't hear it over the violin.
👏🏾👏🏾

Dayren!! Te quiero mucho desde Tampa
See my interview with Hubert Laws for the National Flute Association in the Fall 2001 issue, at your library.
Delightful to hear, though I wish we could have heard more of the keyboards and bass to beef up the harmonic content.
Just AWESOME!!!!
He is my best Flutist.
He has a tone all his own....
starts at 5:37
5:36 Lene Mezquino
14:53 Música Para Siempre
23:40 Muchacha Extraña
33:26 Medias Negras
39:21 Caras Falsas

I met Hubert when he worked with Victor Feldman in LA CA doing a direct disc thanks to my pal Kevin grey. The album was called in my pocket.
Jack Glick bet you felt blessed.x
He is a great composer,
I love Hubert laws style so good to see Black Flaurtists.❤ The backers are good also.
Wow!
Were the wind blows freee❤🎉❤🎉
Yes!! Great Music fusión Jazz of violín...Master.
Laws speaks as eloquently as he plays! Bellisimo!
I wonder if he got beat up a lot in school? All that aside Mr. Laws is an artist and a master craftsman. I enjoyed this very much.
I was THERE!!! you'd think the recording would be more balanced....
AND - the problem with that was that the Violin mix was so much over the Flute, that when she played sloppy at times it stuck out like crazy .
Master musicians, Kindergarten sound people. 😂😂😂😂😂
I've enjoyed it even though the sound engineering should have gone to jail for such work... But my love for Hubert Laws is stronger :D
The Flutists and Violist are in tone and tempo.

Profi flutist, more than 50 years.
But I can tell them all apart from hearing them (classical flutists) play
7:20 to 8:58 is the best part
He plays a MEAN SAX TOO. JUST LIKE YUSEF LATEEF RIP!
Check out two of Hu's proteges, Gerald Beckett and Kent Jordan!
Also, Dave Valentin.
@@davidjadunath1262 Verdad!
@@davidjadunath1262 sadly, Dave passed away a few years back.
It's a shame the audio mastering is soooooo bad! Otherwise good.
Who are the other players, besides Laws and Santamaria?
nice
Har øvd forlite på fløyte
Something wrong about the mic here.
Great music and well filmed, but the backing band are mixed way too low.
what a shame, the sound is not mixed at all... we can't listen to the orchestra!
I'm buying his last 2 latest CDs.
Sounds like the sound technicians are on a another planet. Really bad Sound mix. To bad for one of the best Jazz flute players in the history of Jazz.
....in this history of music..
Is what he was doing to that flute what the kids these days refer to as "going ham"???
Beautiful sounds, but dreadful mixing, a tribute to the players that they all shine thro'.
Excellent playing…lousy sound…compressed flute…not necessary…..very shoddy sound engineering…a shame…
