- The levels are getting longer and harder. This one takes over three minutes and I needed at least 10 attempts. Well, I actually beat it on my 5th attempts or something, but then I forgot one crate. Man, that pissed me off. Anyway, this level granted me the green gem, so now I can go back and do the 2nd level.
The amount of anxiety I have from just MOVING was insane.
and I still died
Ahh the one of greatest things about this game. when you hear the sound of tht vortex at the end of the level. very GREAT PS1 Days

Fun fact, you can only die in the beginning of any level (before getting a checkpoint) as much as you want and still get the gem, only you can't get the gem when you die and have already reached a checkpoint cause the game makes all the boxes respawn and when finishing the level it just kicks you out.
I find it annoying because I wish the boxes that I destroyed are all gone, not respawning (unless that was part of the challenge)
The last one I played was The Wrath Of Cortex. I started playing it twice, but I simply didn't enjoy it, so I never made it past the first world. The first three and Crash Team Racing are still some of my favorite games.
And it is indeed a pain in the ass to get 100% in this game. Last time I did it must be 8 or 9 years ago. I just reached Sunset Vista now. Oh boy...
True, although when I recently replayed Crash 1 it seemed easier than other times I played it.

the clear boxes only appear when you hit the metal box with a "!" on it, the one in this level is at 0:36, you gota jump to reach it.

I raged so fucking much at this level. It needed like 30 attempts for me. But I said : I can do this level easily, each time I die it's ridiculous. If I take my time, I'll pass it. And that's what happened.

For some reason, I had a harder time here than I had in Slippery Climb. I actually nailed Slippery Climb on my 3rd try, while this one took me like 25 tries.
I was wrong. You do get the Green Gem from this level! I just read it wrong and I just got the Red Gem from Slippery Climb! Both normal gems and colored gems are so much fun to collect even though they are really hard to collect!
This level is hard, but ironically it's the first level in the game I managed to get a Gem on. :)

I only bothered to get 100% in this game once. It was a complete pain in the ass.
I don't remember the last Crash game I played. I really stopped caring about them after they started not being as good as they used to be. They're still okay though.

That exclamation box at 0:36. That is the most stupid hiding place ever. Not many people would even know it's there.
When you get to three or more moving wall pillars, wait until all 3 or more pushes out then move.

I have the North Amercian version of this game downloaded on my PS3. I found out(by looking it up that there is a red gem instead if a green one). Does anyone know how to make the invisible box underneath the first Nitros Brio emblem to appear? Cause it is the only box I can't break! I would really aprecaite the help!

Personally I have a love/hate for it, I like the level setting and the tricky obstacles, BUT THE DARN COLORED GEM AND THAT 2ND ACTIVATION BOX COMPLETELY KILLS MY RUNS! JUST THE FACT IN EITHER OG IR N SANE THAT YOU HAVE TO DO IT IN 1 LIFE I actually got the gem in SUNSET VISTA BEFORE this one. (Plz note I only played the Switch port of N Sane)
3 added some real good things to the series. And its the only game(A few at most) you can complete 105%
god i so remember this lvl it was so frustrating 4 me since i was only 4 when i completed it. but this brings back memories
on that wumpa box at 0.36 their is a silver box above it u need to press X when ur juping so that u get high enuff to hit it
The first level that tells you. You can’t Die.
Jason Is right, Tawna Symbols are the easy bonuses, the Brio symbold are the moderate - hard bonuses, And Coret Symbols Are Hardest, and beating them will get you a key.

If you get them you can do a special very hard bonus round. You don't actually need them for 100% and they don't give you anything, not even a save point. I think it's just to provide a nice challenge as you can replay them as many times as you want
0:44 how did you make the crate appear? It wasn’t there for me
this one and sunset vista are very diffcult. you have to be concentrated 100%. i like more this Crash more that the others because it is more difficult
how do you get the life on the other side? how do you get over those boxes?
The switch is above that box I jump on at 0:36. Pay close attention and you can see an exclamation mark.
How come the box beneath that Brio head next to that life, wasn't in it's outline?
On mine it's not there, and you have to track all the way from the end of the level backwards to gain that stupid box, but yours was already "Full" how come? Mine's PAL if that makes any difference.

FUCK ME, played this all the time when I was a child and lately I thought it would fun to play it again to get 100% which I wasn't able to at that time.
I was certain it was the box just before the finish that triggered the last box, causing many painful attempts for me trying to go all the way back through the level. Lol, thanks for the video! 100%, finally.
at 0:50 - 0:54 if you jump high enough of the spinny things their is a hidden aku aku mask just floating up their [no box]

It was hard breaking all the boxes, and getting all the gems in each level.

this lvl isn't easy for such and early point in the game... i remember rly struggling to get those boxes behind the metal-crate-wall at the start :(] i was like 6

I think that they tried to hard to make these new games and I've got loads. But I still fav the old games (much better except graphics) and thumbs up if you agree.

And for castle machinery
so in my game I have an outline box near the beginning where there's a free life and a brio thing and I can't find a way to unoutline this box ??

Get Jinxed not sure if you already figured it out but at 0:36 you have to hold the X button while jumping on the box to hit the ! box to get the brio token

yea slippery climb requires timing but it wasnt much of a challenge for me, now the level where u need the key and the lights go out and u have to go behind u to get boxes is hard especially on keyboard. I forgot the name though, but i kno u need a key for it.

That was nitrus brio's head, he is one of crash's enemies

I remember the first time playing this level as a kid. This one was weird. Looking back at this, I feel like I should smoke weed before playing this ._.

@elijahhandley If you're good enough though you can get a nice reward of lives. The harder the stage the better the payload.
The second floor is where it gets hard.

If you collect all 3 in a level you go to a bonus level.
Wait, do the boxes in the bonus stages not count?

No the boxes in the Bonus stage don't count towards to the gem in the original.

Its been one decade and this level hasn't gotten any easier.... of course I mean by getting a perfect.
it doesn't matter how good you are at platforming in any 3D or 2D game you are gonna slip up at one point and fail.
