This young lad has been put onto Deep Purple and Led Zep by his grandad he must have been one of the only black guys back in the 70,s who was in to this music. RESPECT
Best rock song ever. The passion is unmatched. looking for another chill album for the morning? Try Deep Purple Deep Purple. Perfect way to start your Rock & Roll Day...
Freddie Mercury May be the greatest showman I’ve ever seen live, but Ian Gillan is by far the greatest vocalist! All of Deep Purple mkII are premium musicians! Ian Gillan was the original Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar also. An incredible vocalist!
@@StaciaAmnaber - I don’t mind anyone feeling differently, but I saw Freddie live and Ian, and the vocal skills were at that time at least far beyond Freddie’s in terms of dynamic control, timbre, breath control, and breadth of range. These opinions are always subjective, and your mileage may vary. In the 70s however it was not close for me. That’s not a slight, it’s only one person’s opinion. There were so many fine singers of that era. I can’t fault anyone for rating any if them at the top of their list. 👍🏻
I saw both in concert. DP was my most favourite show of all for their energy and especially the keyboards. Freddie was the best showman of all. Both top tier.
As Ian Gillan goes into his 1st "ooh ooh ooohhhhh" JB pauses and be like. "this how live performances should be" Every Purple fan thinking dude you're just getting on the roller coaster, the ride hasn't started yet
Your grandparents are awesome!!!!😍😍😍🎸😎 Obviously they are old like me!!!!! Screw all the Digital enhancements and autotune, the 70’s had none of that crap and the sound was pure as snow!!!!! Deep Purple is amazing!!!! Great job hombre!!!! Love you man!!!!! So says Austin Tx!!!! 😍😍😍🤩🥳😎

Finally. What a great way to start my day. One of the best bands ever. Ian Gillan is the lead singer, This is your first pause, Think he's good, keep listening and prepare for your mind to be blown
I don't mind you pausing the song to show such an enthusiastic reaction. Reminds me of the first time I heard this song, driving my car, moved to tears by the vocals, only to have to pull over and head bang a minute later to the guitar solo. I had just come home from the war. After the second wave of vocals, I was crying so hard, and then a voice from inside said, "You don't have to be a soldier any more, just be a good man. What's done is done, and what's to be will be."
@@AGDinCA Oh! No, lol. I've been subbed to this channel so long I've watched him go from teenager to grown man...he FEELS like family! Thank you so much for the kind words! ❤

Love your reaction to this! This band is true talent, from an era when musicians worked hard to perfect their skills. No auto-tune, not even a monitor, just ungodly singing!
The first album I ever bought as an 11-year-old, back in 1971 "Deep Purple In Rock". And here we are, 50 years later - this is still a masterpiece of a song, and I'm still listening to it.
I was born in 70 and grew u0 on this stuff. There obviously wasn't anyone in your house that had the "cool" music back then (I had older siblings with great taste in music).
Dude, you weren't faking anything. It was clear the second he started singing that you immediately, unconsciously responded. We understand, man. We really do.
Performers like these in the 1970's shed blood sweat and tears to hone their musical craft, Jimi Hendrix even took his guitar into the toilet he was so committed to excelling in the rock music field. So glad you are blown away with this one, a legendary classic.. LONG LIVE DEEP PURPLE!
The audience were told not to react because it was a live recording for TV - I saw Deep Purple 6 times in the early 1970s and it was always a wild concert.
You are blessed with a beautiful soul and understanding the genius of REAL music. Always a pleasure to watch you ! 👍👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️♥️ I’m a grandma from Austria and very thankful, that I was born the right time.....
Grandpa is a king, clearly. 😁 You don't have to apologize for texting Grandpa. He's family, dammit. Time with our grandparents is short and precious; when you have something to say to them, there is no time like the present.
You are absolutely right about the fake talent. Nowadays all you need are two phrases to sing over and over and over and technical equipment to cover up your many flaws. Deep Purple not only had the pure talent but the pure soul.
Man, I am watching your reaction , your wide opened eyes, you almost got tears. This is exactly how we were reacting in 70s when we heard this music. God bless all the good music in the world, from any country, race, period of time. This is what is gluing us, people. The great magic of art.
remember, always when you hear the old tunes that get to you, remember the year they came out...was best generation for music ever...I believe there is a meme out there about it...I may be old but I had the best music! lol...keep on truckin brother!
Thank your grandfather. This is a really great band. Your grandad and me are music brothers! I met a woman from Serbia a long time ago and she heard me playing this on my CD player. She asked to listen to it as she could not hear it well. After a few minutes, she broke down crying. I asked her why and she told me her husband had killed himself, in front of her, with a gun, listening to this song.
Yes when I was young (I'm 69 now) artists HAD ro be able to sing and play there instruments Live or they were finished! Can I suggest you do their song "Lazy" next?
I love your grandpa and I don't even know him. This is when music was music... no loops or dubs. This song was the ultimate Vietnam War protest song. For us old dudes, it has special meaning. Love the reaction and thanks for this.
So you have lifted the lid to the treasure chest that is Deep Purple. Just keep on going and welcome to join us Purple-fans. We are the happiest people :-)
Your grandfather has a good taste for music. And he knows talent when he sees it. I saw them in concert in 1972 Machine Head tour. Check out Highway Star for a reaction. Thanks for the good reaction.
Welcome to the rabbit hole of music worth listening to. There are reasons some of us old folks ridicule parts of contemporary music. zyour grandfather has good music taste. Try "Lazy" or "Space Truckin'" from the same artist. There's plenty more where that came from.
So glad you are reacting to this great song, and such gifted singer Ian Gillan. You would recognize the sound of his voice as he sang a version of Jesus Christ Superstar for the record or in the early days of Andrew Lloyd Webbers musical-he recognized the power and ability he had with voice to portray raw emotion!
Yessah this is my favorite song especially live, Ian Gillan the lead singer also sings Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar 1970 if you get a chance listen to that, his vocals is amazing God given talent
Oh man was that priceless! You paused to comment at the perfect time!! You heard the raw talent and had no idea what was coming. What you said is so true and I was sitting there thinking, "... OMG just wait and see what's coming! You have no idea what you're about to hear!" Then I got to witness your head explode with what followed!! OMG incredible! Thank you for capturing and sharing the exact moment we all saw here. Just incredible.
I often have musical dreams. I've dreamt this song all the way through as it tears me up emotionally just like it does in real life. Though it was originally written about the Cold War tensions and Viet Nam War, it's tragically timeless because it expresses the raw horror of every war, every terrorist attack, every crazed shooting that has ever happened. The screams are so intense, the music so forceful that it's unbelievable. It's such a masterpiece that even though it makes me weep inside for all the unspeakable pain and suffering humans cause each other, I can't help but listen to the end once it starts. Thanks for your review!
