We need to bring back the Y2K aestethic. If things felt “futuristic” back in the year 2000/2001, can you imagine how things would be with actual advanced technology?? 😮
So many 90s commercials, documentaries and films feature D&B/breakbeat music. That was definitely like the sound of the era, even more than hip hop in a lot of ways. The amen breaks were just rolling nonstop back then
What people don’t understand is that they mix y2k and mcbling so much that they don’t even know about this aesthetic half the time, I’d love to live in this style but it’s super expensive and rare now unfortunately
yessss im in love with this aesthetic. wish i could delve more into it but it is hard to find. takes a lot of searching to piece together this aesthetic.
I've been seeing a little bit of Y2K-inspired aesthetics in modern design and fashion - though the modern version isn't quite the same as it was 20 years ago. If I can find enough examples, I might put together a new video featuring it (neo-Y2K?)
@@microsoftsam_yt its definitely coming back as a trend in user generated content such as youtube content, art, and music. only a matter of time till the corpos catch on and it becomes a full on trend again
@CrayonEater2003 People imagined the future with a more utopian lens back then, and it was reflected in the media we produced. Compare pre-2000 Star Trek to modern Trek, for example.
That’s before dems came along and told everyone that everything they do and say is either racist or hurts someone’s feelings. They also convinced people America is not the greatest place in the world to live. It stopped the progress we made for so long
at the tail end of CRT TVs they did make 16:9 High Definition CRT TVs. I have a Widescreen CRT TV I use to watch TV in my room. Also my CRT Monitor I use for my Windows 10 PC is 1440i at 86hz, and it was made in 2004
I was between the ages of 6-9 at this time and I can't believe how many of these ads imprinted on me. In particular the one of the little girl and the eyeless people, I could swear it was for zenith TVs and not lg though...
Look at that Walkman disc recordable from the net, like a product anybody could see the commercial and buy it like if youre cool and like music but then what happens

too bad zen z is mixing up mcbling and y2k as one and the same when its clearly not
Love how futuristic and colourful it is. Just seems so fun
the ironic part is its actually now in the PAST. We had such high hopes for the future... :(
@@DB8ed it was fun and exciting and tbe optimism for the future could not be contained it was everywhere. ❤❤
Maybe itll comeback !! :)
@@sailorpolka maybe...hopefully, someday
The year 2000 was the future!

Jungle/DnB was the sound of the future
Y2K was the look of the future
I see it as a match made in heaven
I disagree this wasn’t really the 90s but it was it just didn’t it feel like it
Toonami, too.
Yeah, it probably went unnoticed/unappreciated for the general public since they probably don't even know the name of the genre 😕
@Sexy Amy Rose Nyjahi skitzoposting
Can we please bring back this futurism? Why are we so boring in a lot of modern aesthetics.

It's odd how peoples vision of the future in the late 90s and early 2000s looks more futuristic than today.
Today looks more like black mirror

We'll get there, dudr. We'll get there.😊

my little sister doesn't understand that I grew up in the future
When CRT TV's were considered High Defenition lol
And Windows XP was the norm. Despite that, the Computer from Courage the Cowardly Dog seemed like he was running Windows 98.

Damn no wonder people are bringing back the past, cuz it’s way more futuristic
why was their aesthetic so futuristic ?!
Why was the 60s aesthetic so futuristic?
New millennium lol
We were closer to entering of the new milleniun, and the technology was evvolving fast for that time
The 80s aesthetic definitely is more futuristic tho
Every decade has their futuristic aesthetic but the late 90s especially 1999/2000 was to me the transition of a lifetime to the new millennium! ✨️
5:59 Wow I forgot that there were laptops with that ballpad thing for a very short time.

I remember that ad, but yes, it was for LG.
Frutiger Aero, my beloved.
I miss so much that time ;_;
2020s is also the year bring back Y2K especially flip phone 😊
3:13 sounds like a Charli XCX song
5:08 I LOVE CURVE
Is that Iku on your pfp? I love Iku.
@@YuukiTakemoto1996 No. My PFP is a Picrew avatar I made based on myself.
You're doing God's work, Sam. You're welcome on my podcast, the Fox Den, anytime.
I was 14-18 in this era I thought it would last forever… lol now I’m 39 wow
3:14 they really hammered in that purple
The future was yesterday!
YesterTomorrow indeed
Icy colors
What a great time to be stoned in front of the television
Anyone else getting a Sonic Riders vibe?
The Grand Am commercial was dope
Why did the ads always have that futuristic theme
thank you
0:30 it’s not easy being me “wash your face and brush your hair; “nag, nag, nag” it’s just not fair…I’m horrid henry!
It is interesting what is the Y2K video quality, versus older media archives, like if it isn't full quality what happened and what looks different
Like the y2k video looks more pixelated than 70s archive video, maybe the y2k was played in a really small player inside a web browser
Can you do a compilation for Wacky Pomo commercials, or Utopian Scolastic
Love this idea. Stay tuned!
Look at that Walkman disc recordable from the net, like a product anybody could see the commercial and buy it like if youre cool and like music but then what happens
The future is in the past now
why was the minidisk ad cut?
Hi again, I made a music video using your video. I gave credit in the description. Hope you don’t mind.
It’s titled “T-Zone...” on my channel
4:13 is that lee junghyun?
No

That pontiac commercial though....jesus that's an ugly car

Digitally Yours

NFTs are not compatible with Y2K
I miss seeing attractive people in the commercials.
HD quality, a trend for soft lighting and being able to see every wrinkle doesn't help
Fat ugly screeching blue haired people is the dystopian future.
