I really wanted an articulated first finger, how can he scold young punks effectively if he can't point at them. Same as looking down, I feel he's a character that expresses a lot with his hands so I was bummed not to have more there. Looks really great tho so definitely happy overall.

Bah-weep-Graaaaagnah wheep ni ni bong. I would have preferred an Energon stick dispenser over the cigar. This bot is pretty big, I saw Dust standing it next to his Omega in the realm. Great review man.

Mine came out of the box, posed and on the shelf and it looks fantastic. Glad I don't flip them back and forth. Also I must say, one of the best skits ever. The kids were on point. Tough life lessons there.

He's not that bad and if you start with the legs, it's much easier as the front off the truck can then just cover up. If you transform him from the front, you'll be bending plastics so that the leg portion can go underneath. Either way, there's some bending of plastics, which I'm not a fan of but, you have less of it if you start with the leg transformation first.
The only TF reviewer where the skits are actually really funny.

Actually, my good sir, Fanstoys first release was a trailer for Transformers 20th anniversary edition of MP01. BUT!!!! If you are referring to their first figure, then yes, it would be Quakewave. (I just felt like being a smart ass. XD) Great review sir.

Thanks for this. You really helped. I couldn't figure out how to get the hip flaps out of the way during the transformation to truck mode. You have to be quite firm with him to get him to click together, which is exactly how I keep breaking bits off Evila Star.
Love everything but the transformation, my God, don't see my self transforming back into robot mode, thanks for the review, I was able to transforming it better.
This is the first review of yours I've watched while messing with the figure for the first time. I didn't however follow you on the transformation, this guy is staying in robot mode haha. But he's going to look so pretty standing there on the shelf!! :) :)

Be careful what you wish for. It could end up like MP-36 Megatron.
cadsux MP-36 wasn't a bad figure at all in my opinion. In fact, I haven't had any issues what so ever with any of the official MP figures so far. However, I did have alot of issues with X-Transbots Apollyon and a couple of other 3rd party figures, and thats the reason why Im only buying the official MP figures now. But thats just me though. What other people likes better is totally up to them. Thats the great thing about multiple companies that makes TF figures.

I hope you're not getting soft on me Bobby, this is like the third release from fanstoys with bare and dull looking plastics. Some accents applied here and there ain't enough when takara going head to toes with their paint these days.

So, we have the big bang theory that has nerds without kids, and we had home improvement about a tool nut and his family. Now we need a toy collector's life and family with the kids, as a tv show. You could be the next Tim Allen or Shelden Cooper. Got to tell you, that would be so freaking awesome!

I love Fanstoys Koot and almost anything Fanstoys puts out...I have many Fanstoys preorders on BBTS...why can't they keep their release dates? If I order a Fanstoys product, do I expect to wait a year after expected release to actually see the figure? I can't wait for FT-29 Quietus. I sold my piece of junk Eligos months ago in anticipation, but no sign of Quietus???

With the help from this video and Emgos video and the instructions. My transformation went well. It’s important that you don’t skip ahead and lock the front and other things before the instructions say so. If you do things becomes too locked in. I agree it’s not a smooth transformation but when it’s done it feels good. I have more problems with Apache and for me he is more annoying. But he also looks very cool.

Personally, I've never had much time for fanstoys. I nearly bought Quakewave and, when the official MP was released, was so glad I didn't. I feel like they make very 'obvious' toys but they charge a premium for quality and materials. Not my kind of thing. It's not that I like a complicated transformation - quite the opposite - but I like to see good ideas in the engineering.
I'm developing a similar aversion to FansHobby. They seem to be making even more obvious (if I said "make me a G2 Prime with MP-10's ankles and some decent articulation" I've basically completely described their Gunfighter) toys...
This Kup, considering how much it looks like Kup, is remarkable to me in how little it reminds me of Kup... I think the proportions are probably off in both modes as, detail-wise, they've done great.
I like the pop-out wheels - they're a nice touch. And I like both face sculpts. They are what nearly sells this to me.
Maybe their Hot Rod might inspire me to jump on board. I passed on the official so there's a spot in my collection for a 3P to get my money... ;-)

:-) Can't help but think there's something about Fanstoys' stuff that you maybe have to hold in person to get. I don't see what they're doing that earns them so many fans. But it wasn't obvious to me how good MMC's Backdraft was until I got it. For the right release, maybe I should give fanstoys a go.

Man, but they sure can nail a sculpt. Looking great on the shelf with the season 3 guys is all i ask for and he does that.

It's my first Fanstoys figure, and I can see why they are highly regarded - a very nice item in hand, pleasantly weighty.
Cant wait for Apache, Rouge etc!
Those flaps on the wheels and hips are a pain in the ass though.

Fantastic skit! Shades of Lt. Kaffy. I did wonder what it'd be like if FT tried a smaller sculp. Too bad they didn't deliver on the engineering. Appreciate the critique from a FT fan.

I want one of these figures very cartoon accurate. Kup was one of my all-time favorite characters in the cartoon and in the 86 film. He reminds me a lot of my grandfather.

Never thought that an XTB release would look more tempting than FAAAAAAAAANS TOYS -- but, Keith's version is looking a lot more accurate, better proportioned and cleans up without a huge backpack. we've only seen 3d renders from what I can tell, so who knows what the final product will look like.

I was going to get Koot because I thought he looked really good, but if the transformation is that not-fun, I'll wait for another option. I'm surprised you like FT Sovereign so much though considering his transformation is one of the least fun of all the MP scale figures I have.

Got him today. Figure is very pleasing to look at, but absolutely horrible to transform. Nothing seems to clip together nicely and to many times it felt like something was going to snap.
Like him, but like masterpiece Megatron, he'll be staying in robot mode from now on.
My man... I feel you. Mp megatron came as a robot but I told myself, you gotta transform him at least once. Never again.

Makes me sad he didn't come with that one accessory from that one episode. I think a Sharkticon tail ripped off and turned into a mace accessory would have been amazing, even though it's from the movie not an episode.

I like this old Koot, but he certainly is not going to be everyone's Kup of tea. Alright, terrible puns out of the way...
I think in robot mode he looks pretty fantastic, and I love the cigar chomping face sculpt. I am with you in wishing they had painted the inside of the mouth, though. But does he look like a nightmare to transform. But I never really cared for his alt mode anyway. This is definitely one that I would keep in robot mode. I rarely, if ever, transform my MP's, I usually flip them back and forth 2 times on the first day I get them and then they stay in robot mode thereafter. If I wanna play around with a transformer, I will get a legends class or deluxe and flip them around. A $10 to $15 toy is much easier to cope with breaking than one that costs $100 or more. I learned that the hard way with my MP Soundwave. First time transforming him, his right arm sheared off at the pin and I nearly lost my shit. Fortunately it was replaced, but it took forever.

Looking at him it feels like his arms and legs are proportionally too small compared to the rest of him, but I don't know if that's something that vanishes when you're handling him in person or not.

Thanks for the review Bobby. I was on the fence with the old "Koot" because aesthetically I think he looks amazing. But after watching your video I'm gonna err on the side of caution and wait to see if XTB puts out a better product (fingers crossed), instead of making a purchase that would probably lead to buyer's remorse lol.

I pretty much agree. The transformation is horrid on Kup, which is a major issue for me. I like being able to transform my figures every so often, so I don't like it when the transformations are this bad. I hate when they sit around and do nothing.
Though I think this might be worse for me, as I got him around the same time I got Maketoys Galaxy Meteor and Badcube's Huff, both with great transformation sequences.

i saw a few reviews of him and i gotta say you got it right! transformations shouldnt be that much of a mess or complicated (badcube's wardog). both look spot on until you dig a little deeper. usually fanstoys gets transformations right, not this time.

I had to Come back to give Some credit to fààànstoys. They added some love for the fans by solving their own engineering problem: they added a turnable piece on botmode chest for the sole purpose of putting an autobot logo on botmode. That attention to detail fanstoys! 👍😁
The typewriter fingers really needs to stop. As much as I know people dislike KFC's hands, at least they're a step in the right direction. I just can't stand not being able to point, wave, command, do anything with my figures' hands.

My first attempt following the instructions despite watching this vid failed to transform kup.
Second attempt without instructions, do the front of the vehicle then touch the legs work fine.
I agree with a lot in this review. The pushing wheels parts is probably one of the bad points followed by alignment of the windows.
Missing the index finger movements, could do with one more face without the cig.
Lots of folding into the body area but once you know how to do it, is okay for me.
I think is easier than my badcube hoist or mp-36
i can agree there, but those are some of the most challenging transformations out there lol

I ordered mine after watching your vid despite the pain in the ass transformation. Because I thought it was probably just overly complicated like Badcube's Warpath. And this looks amazing in both modes. I think the only reasons it was so hard to transform were some missing extra steps they didn't add. At 11:47 the "ears" dangling from the front wheels could've rotated another 45 degrees off to the side instead of just 10. That would've given clearance to the hip panel at 13:23, and definitely more clearance for the lovehandle panel after that. Or that lovehandle could've had another hinge in the middle of the panel so it could tuck itself in. The other problem is too many things have to just fit together and tab in all at once rather than 1 or 2 at a time. Its similar to how Warpath is transformed into tank mode, but he had waaaaaaay more clearance and it was just to get everything secured. Kup is definitely secure in car mode. A little too secure which is why its a pain to reach the final steps.and to start transforming to robot. Overall I'm with you. He's just gonna stay in robot mode most of the time.

Was never a big fan of Season 3 vehicle modes anyways...so hooray robot mode it is!!!!

The transformation reminds me of the time during the battle of mylittleponia when we got lost in the sugar and spice mines, or the time during the battle of..... Ah, I love Kup's old war stories. Anyway, great review on what sounds like a pretty good figure less the transformation. Oh, and by the way, your daughter does a better "Fanstoys Voice" than you do (just kidding).....

If ever there had been a time for a FansToys squeak, this is the one where it would have made sense. He's an old bot - stuff doesn't work quite as well as it used to ... (and I guess you can just blame Hot Rod - sorry - Hoodlum (if he ever gets released) for putting him back together incorrectly and for making the transformation more complicated....)
