Full Sand Refinishing to Remove Cupping

In this video, we sand a hickory floor down to raw wood to remove the cupping, the warping of floor planks. What made our job harder was the fact that this was a pre-finished floor, with an aluminum oxide coating from the factory. The problem of cupping was caused over many months by high humidity in the basement where this floor is. We flattened the floor, stained to a colour of the client's choosing and recoated it to a satin sheen. Beautiful transformation.
