    I just did the first oil change on my 2023 Lunar TRX at 1,500 miles and I went with Mobil 1 Super Car 0W-40. This is the Dexos R Spec oil that is made for all the Corvettes. Supposedly it’s better than Pennzoil SRT oil. Maybe look into the Super Car Mobil 1 formula for your next oil change.

    Why Mobil 1 and not Ultra Platinum? Just curious on your preference.

    • @TylerPotter

      I think both are great oil, but for some reason I have been running Mobil in everything and haven't had any issues. Thanks for the view!

    Luv the video. FYI: the TRX Owner's Manual Supplement does call for 7.5 quarts when changing the filter... not 7. So it's no surprise that your 7 quarts came up to halfway through the safe zone on the stick. Yes, the 1500 manual says 7 quarts for the 5.7, but the supplement does state very clearly on page 121... 7.5

      The crazy thing is the factory service info at the dealership called for 7qts! Glad I checked! Thanks for the view!

    Do all TRX have the oil cooler? And and why did you choose that euro Mobil one over the Pennzoil UP

    • @TylerPotter
      @TylerPotter  3 года назад +1

      Yes all hellcat powered stuff will have the remote oil cooler that you drain with the oil change and I have been running Mobil 1 in my other vehicles for year, I think the Pennzoil is probably great also, either choice will do great! Thanks for the view!

    stupid question how to check oil level on the trx the dip stick is weird .. i have a general idea but want to make sure I'm correct thanks

    • @TylerPotter
      @TylerPotter  Год назад +1

      As long as it is on level ground you should be able to check it like normal, some times it is a little hard to see if the oil is new and clean. Thanks for the view!

    Why did you change your oil at 500 miles and not 5,000 miles?

    • @TylerPotter

      I weird and always like to do a really early oil change on any new engine I have. Thanks for the view!

    When are you going to do a transmission oil change ? 😅😅😅

    • @TylerPotter

      That is a good question I don't have any plans to change transmission fluid till 50k miles so it will be a while

      I have seen someone crack a cooler without the wrench holding the cooler from moving! So it is a good habit to get in to. Thanks for the view!

    Oil change is super easy, I called my dealership where I purchased it and made an appointment for this coming Tuesday. I'll just sit in the waiting room until it's done. I get 3 oil changes a year as part of my purchase agreement.

    • @TylerPotter

      Nice just make sure they are draining the oil cooler also. Thanks for the view!

    Do you have to drain the oil cooler too?

    • @TylerPotter
      @TylerPotter  3 года назад

      Yes you drain the engine oil pan and the engine oil cooler with each oil change. Thanks for the view.

    an honest and a newbie question. Is it neccessary to change oil filter every time you do an oil change?

    • @TylerPotter
      @TylerPotter  Год назад

      Yes it is defiantly worth it to change the filter so your new oil isn't going through the dirty filter. Thanks for the view!

    Excellent video, thank you! Using that Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 was an intelligent choice. I am using the same oil in my 5.7 HEMI. If you run the truck hard, I would use the Mobil 1 FS 5W-40. It shears a bit less. Both of these oils are leaps and bounds better than the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum SRT 0W-40 oil, which is just mid-SAPS fuel economy oil masquerading as high-performance oil (yes, lol).

    • @TylerPotter
      @TylerPotter  2 года назад

      That is good to hear, I have always like running Mobil in my vehicles, Thanks for the view!

    Is it acceptable by RAM to use the European version of the OW40 without voiding the warranty? And what is the difference in the two oil versions? We enjoyed your videos a lot!

    • @TylerPotter
      @TylerPotter  2 года назад +1

      At the dealership in my 14years I have yet to see any warranty issues come up from customers using there preferred brand of oil. The current contract Mopar has for oil is with Pennzoil and that is why it it the "recommended" oil. Years ago the Mopar oil contract was with Mobil and Mobil 1 was recommended in all of the SRT vehicles. Thanks for the view!

    We just had 70% tint added to our windshield on the X5 to help with the heat on the black dash during the summer drives out west. It helps block a lot of the UV while not looking totally suspicious. Truck looks great! Looking forward the launches.

    • @TylerPotter
      @TylerPotter  3 года назад +1

      I am contemplating doing some 80% at least for the heat and UV.

    I wish I can add additional oil cooler. here in the middle east temps climbs to 230 F while driving normal in hot weather. Same goes for the tranny but priority is for engine oil cooler

    • @TylerPotter
      @TylerPotter  3 года назад

      Wow hopefully someone will make a larger aftermarket cooler that could replace the small factory one for the hot climates. Thanks for the view!

    Is the full line the top of the hash mark or the ⛔? This is my first RAM. I filled 7 and it's at the top of the hash marks

    • @TylerPotter
      @TylerPotter  2 года назад +1

      Full would be the top of the hash mark, and pending you fully drained the oil pan, oil cooler and replaced the filter it should be roughly 7.5qts. Thanks for the view!

    Tyler i thought it was 14mm for drain plug not 13mm like u said?

    • @TylerPotter
      @TylerPotter  2 года назад +1

      The factory plugs should be13mm for the engine oil pan and a 15mm plug on the oil cooler. Thanks for the view!

    did you have to reset the alert on the dash?

    • @TylerPotter
      @TylerPotter  3 года назад

      Yes, that would have been good to add to the video, but yes you can reset it with turning the ignition on and pushing the gas pedal down 3 times or you can reset it through the instrument cluster. Thanks for the view!

    Its a hellcat motor it needs. The SRT Oil filter ( 5038041AA ) they are a lot better. Plus the oil should be. The Pennzoil Ultra synthetic oil.

    • @TylerPotter
      @TylerPotter  2 года назад +1

      The SRT viper filter is a great option also, and any good 0W40 is a good choice. Thanks for the veiw!
