@@steveweisfeldt294 I heard the song for the first time last year. Discovered it via the Chili Peppers and then listened to the original and knew that Brandon had a similar style voice
Respect. They got a lot of the nuances. Happy they didn’t mess with the guitar solo either. I’m running through the cars covers here and so far this is the best.
Brandon will be inducting The Cars into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame on April 14 2018 in Cleveland!! He must be so excited! I would love to hear The Killers cover "Drive". Maybe we will all get lucky and Brandon will perform with The Cars during the ceremony!
I was so happy to hear that Brandon was inducting the Cars into the HOF as I love both these bands. As a teenager, the Cars were one of my favorite bands. This is a very good cover also.
I like The Cars a great deal, but I think Depeche Mode was far more deserving the award. Their endurance, influence, evolution and experimentation as a band is unrivaled.
Actually saw this very thing when The Killers played Boston several years ago. This was before Ric passed, I think they were just covering tunes by artists from the town they were in since I also saw them play Bruce Cockburn's Lovers in a Dangerous Time in Toronto.
It would have been better if Julian would have just sang it. Hammond knew the cars obviously because of his dad and Elliot Easton may have been Valensi’s biggest influence.
Thanks for posting this. I was hoping Brandon would sing this with the Cars at the RnR HOF Induction, mainly cause I thought he’d sound great. No idea of this video
I guess since Flowers did the introduction for The Cars into the Hall of Fame recently, he must have asked Ric Ocasek for permission to do a cover of this song - and he said sure. So now they added it to their concert and play this one Cars song. Nice of Ric to allow it, and amazing performance on their part.
As long as the song itself is not being recorded, sold and distributed for profit (tickets are not selling the song, as any cover band knows), no permission is legally necessary.
I thought copyright meant if you played it in a concert (technically making a profit because you sell tickets) you had to pay the original artist a small fee. Are you saying they don't have to pay "The Cars" anything to play their old song? Or that only applies if you sample the song in your own song (like recently with Taylor Swift and Right Said Fred?) Thanks.
Great Video bro. Great cover but what else is new? They always bring it. I was at the BKLN show & the Philly show. Wish they woulda played this. But I can always watch ur video. Thanks
i love this. wish the killers would release an album of covers.
Wish the same too.
They just announced that they're going to have a cover album in 2023!!!
sawdust??
I love that the crowd knows the callbacks and sang right along ❤ that's what rock n roll is all about, kids
@2:47 what's the callback here?
Superb! Benjamin would be proud
This is just what I needed.
These guys are real Cars fans, you can tell. Great job. Really went for it on the vocals too. Love it
This is a perfect tribute to a legendary band!
Being from Boston I was privileged to see The Cars long before they became big. Later, I was fortunate to befriend Ben. RIP peace buddy.
Peter Rieser Wow thats super cool. I was born 2 years after he passed. I really wish i got to meet him-there isnt gonna be another Benjamin Orr...
Have often thought how much The Killers remind me of The Cars. This just proves it. This is awesome!!
An uncanny resemblance for Mr. Rick's voice and his. My father would love listening to this.
In their song Tyson vs Douglas you can hear the Cars influence.
My dad always played me the cars and I grew up listening to the killers. This made me so happy
As an 80s teenager the Killers and their fans need a double album of 80s cover songs. The Killers on vinyl playing 80s songs. Nothing could be better
Ben would have been proud...awesome job.
My brother introduced me to this song literally a few days before we saw them in concert and we lost our minds when we saw it live.
First time I heard this song I instantly thought that The Killers would do a perfect cover...I was not disappointed
Yikes, late to the party? When this song came out, Brandon wasn't even born yet.
@@steveweisfeldt294 I heard the song for the first time last year. Discovered it via the Chili Peppers and then listened to the original and knew that Brandon had a similar style voice
I was thinking Killers or Foster The People
The first time i heard it i thought it was a the killers song😂
I totally agree with you. I have always thought that Flower's voice is similar to Ben Ors'.
Thanks The Killers ...❤The Cars forever ...Rip Benjamin Orr and Rick Ocasek kisses to heaven from Argentina
I miss you Ben Orr 😢
The first time I watch this video... Brandon Is just glowing from happiness. Ric passed a few days ago AND Will be terribly missed.
Respect. They got a lot of the nuances. Happy they didn’t mess with the guitar solo either. I’m running through the cars covers here and so far this is the best.
Ben and Ric are smiling up in heaven!
Nice! I remember somewhere in an interview Brandon said that the cars was the band he wish he could have saw live but never had the chance.
It's especially appropriate having a lefty guitarist playing Elliot Easton's guitar solos.
The guitarist is even left-handed like Elliot Easton!! ! I love this song!!
Thanks Killers!
Long Live THE CARS!!!
XXX Angel in my room 225
That was a damn great cover.
2:46 like how the crowd respond saying "YEAH!".
they even got a lefty guitarist like Elliot
Omg. He is just pure art in every way. They are phenomenal

Julia Charvat He uses the SAME SPEECH

@@99certain45 You are wrong dude, The Cars and Depeche Mode are different animals, .... But, both deserved being inducted.

I was at this show. I love them more and more each time I go!
Great band great cover
Got the drums right!!! Great job
thank you of million zillion times. had to miss the concert due illnes so seeing the videos is feelgood for me
This is fucking amazing cover for the cars!! Compare with the strokes and jarvis cocker cover
the strokes one was great. if jules and jarvis were a bit less drunk it would’ve been perfect
@@comedownmachine4682 So The Strokes with Brandon Flowers on vocals.
It would have been better if Julian would have just sang it. Hammond knew the cars obviously because of his dad and Elliot Easton may have been Valensi’s biggest influence.
Instant fan after just hearing him talk about his brother.
so this was Brandon practicing for his induction to The Cars to RnRHOF.
This is so cool. Tk are awesome!!
Happy! Great cover. Love it.
Absolutely brilliant!
Ben is looking down and approves ,,, 👏
Brandon please join the cars and be their frontman on a tour. You'd kill it.
THAT WAS MUSICAL JUSTICE TO THE SOLO!!! WOW AWESOME!
Ben Orr and Rick O are loving this in heaven RIP
His voice remember a little Ben Orr voice.
These stories make me all warm and fuzzy inside
That’s his Hall of Fame speech from inducting The Cars
Thanks for posting this. I was hoping Brandon would sing this with the Cars at the RnR HOF Induction, mainly cause I thought he’d sound great. No idea of this video
So effing good!

Sam S they dOnt have to pay anything however if they released the concert they’d have to get permission pay the Cars record company
Awesome cover
You're just what i needed.
Po prostu Wow !!!!!
4:27 of course ronnie wouldn't forget the best drum part in the song
Wonder if that part is hard to play for the band because of how they change sinchrony for a while
Fantastycznie skopiowany R.I.P. Benjamin Orr (Orzechowski) :)
Great Video bro. Great cover but what else is new? They always bring it. I was at the BKLN show & the Philly show. Wish they woulda played this. But I can always watch ur video. Thanks
El cover perfecto. Y mucha nostalgia.
excellent x
Great job 🎉
Well done boys, well done!!!😎
Great cover by the Killers. The solo by fellow leftie Elliot Easton was spot on. The singer Brandon sang just like Ben Orr
Nope. This guy’s a little sharp. Sorry. Benjamin Orr cannot be copied!
Oh ..No no...sorry, only Benjamin is the One .
@@analiajimenalopez4666 Ben is long gone, so is Ric. Both won't be singing for quite some time
@@davidbuswa9425 ..i know ..ok !
please do a cover album...you are so good :)
Probably the greatest English band that aren't actually English.
The guitar player is left like Easton!!!
just do a cover album please !! you guys are amazing !!
your backup singers are gorgeous
La mejor musica es de años 80s, alguien tiene dudas ?
So feel it😊
I need an official recording of this now.
awesome
Man I hope they break this out when we see 'em at United Center.
Yes that would be great
💜
Here's to the left handed guitarist, Elliot Easton, this guy also nailed the lead.
Exelente.
*Just What I Needed*
The Killers are the best
Is there a recorded version of this? Even a pro shot live? Coz I need it
Fuck i had a chance to see this show...fuck! Fuck!
os caras sao fodas tocam oque quer e brilhantemente
this was accurate ash
Even a left-handed guitarist like Elliot Easton ...
It's not the perfume that you wear. It's not the ribbons in your hair.
Shit yeah
Sounds like some guy doing karaoke
2:14
not-a-roc-star........see-BEN==ORR
enough talk please play the damn song already, c'mon man!
Singer guy is trying way to hard.
2:20 is when the music starts. The first two minutes is self-indulgent, boring talk.
I thought the intro was lovely, but YMMV.
I just loved it. Takes all sorts to live in this world tho, doesn’t it George X?
So where do you fit in? Self indulgent, boring? Sad?
He's explaining what his brother, and music meant to him as kid in a dull monochromatic Utah town. I appreciated the story!
