People always say that the pinnacle of this game is raiding. That the game only gets going when you hit the level cap, but for me the greatest joy I ever had was leveling my NE warrior. From killing spiders in Shadowglen, then exploring the pathways, moonwells, and dens of Teldrassil/Ashenvale. Arriving in Auberdine for the very first time confronted by the murky, yet still just as beautiful and mysterious woods of Darkshore.
Sometimes I will go to Teldrassil, sit and listen to this wonderful music, and watch the lowbies run around as they begin their adventures. And I remember what it was like to be new and full of wonder. Makes me happy.
People are not sad about, the music itself but the memories it brings, you cant go back to vanilla or play with the people you used to or be in the guild you belonged to. A lot of people have quit WoW and the game has changed so much it looks a lit different than back then.
Ah yes, it was so magical...everything was 3D, you could turn the mouse around and see everything. You pressed a button to go forward, you didn't click to move. You had story, you had meaningness in quests, you had classes, spells, GRAPHICS unlike anything seen before. It was an amazing experience back then. Going from 2D to 3D like that was just incredible to me. And I couldn't believe it was an MMO too. Yeah no game will ever do that. Unless they can replicate this same feeling with VR :))
I’m 20 and playing wow for the first time now, I kinda wish I played it when I was way younger would have made me feel like I’m straight up a mage merking some Troggs
I have far more memorable moments from video games than real life. I have even been on many great family vacations, and done plenty of things in my life, but for some reason, great moments from video games are what really stick... If I had started during vanilla WoW, the nostalgia would probably bring me to tears :,)
VengefulSage i play and enjoy wow but i doo things in real life too. This way wow is even more amazing cuz you wait with excitement for that early sunday morning whe you play in complete silence :)
+J Soren I would say the Jaina Proudmoore theme is #1, and the Invincible theme, but this is definitely in the top as well. But Jaina Proudmoore is just... godlike...
I started play vanilla as a 12 year old kid.. And i can say that instead of starting smoking cigarrets, hanging out with the cool lads and drinking beer illegal, i just went home, peaceful and calm logging into the world of warcraft and everytime having the feeling like... Oh god, yes.. This is home, this is where i belong... And hearing this music now really makes me proud of that time of life, i would never take it back, all those adventures and memories while exploring the world is priceless ..
VicariousReality7 haha man, dont worry about that, im currently 24, have lived in canada, sweden, brazil and now im living in Tokyo and have already explored most of the continents of our beautiful beautiful planet, hope you'll have the same ;) peace bro
Started WoW in 2008. My first Toon was a Nightelf Rogue. Spend about two weeks in Tel'Drassil and Dark Shore before I even got to Ashenvale. The first time I walked into this epic area, a big red message popped up on my screen saying "this is a combat zone" or something like that... and I knew I stepped into a whole other world! I will never forget these first two months playing... and it kept me playing... 'til today... never missed a single day.
This music brings back great memories and nostalgic feelings. I remember clearly the first time I heared this music, more then 8 years ago....and the journey my character made while listening to this, it was absolutely magical. Too bad that world is lost now.
listening to the wow music without playing the game makes me realize just how much better it is. i can just imagine where i would be and what i would do based on the music and that allows me to day dream for a few minutes and escape the real world for a little while. music has that much power. priceless
This game , this world , this music , everything about world of Warcraft. It always put me somewhere I wanted to be. The beauty and magic of the game . And then my Mac didn't allow it anymore and I was never able to play it again being the helpless teenager I am. Games always put you somewhere when you don't like where your at. And I never forgot about WoW.
the greatest game I've ever played.. the people I met.. the time I spent.. the foes I conqured.. gosh.. I wish I could go back to the first time I saw my NE starting village.. I sat there.. and just thought.. my god.. this is beautiful and amazing.
more than 15 years after, I created my first character and still lovig this game, this theme was the first that I eared in game and bringsme so many sweet memories
I remember when you had to click on a flight master in order to have it available. But before you could even ride a ground mount, you would have to literally run all the way across Ashenvale lol good times :) This music reminds me of that.
Everytime I get to hear this song I feel a bit like I'm home...I started playing wow with a nightelf hunter...and found my first guild and a lot of new friends when I was in this zone...Even though I'm horde-player now, this song makes me feel comfortable, even now...I love it
the music of wow brings memories flooding back. To be a noob 6 years ago running around ashenvale attacking horde players and taking forever to reach level 60. not knowing which zone to go to next, getting really mad when the level 60 rogue in shadowcraft ganked me and wondering when I'd be able to do that to people, too damnit, this game was so much fun.
this STILL makes the game feel fresh and full of wonder whenever I hear it. It's the first music I heard when I started playing as a nelf druid and then proceeded to become hopelessly addicted to wow.
I started in vanilla as a night elf hunter XD. When that first part started playing I KNEW right then I loved the game. Being a musician myself the music of games has always been something I payed A LOT of attention to. I havent played WoW for 8 months now. Longest(by 7months) I've ever gone since I started. One day I will return.I used to log in and just ride my ground mount around these old areas to remember the quests I did back when I was first starting, and to help out low level players.
21 December 2008 - ohh man... it hurts to think of that time. the nostalgia. a simpler world back then, cooler internet community and awesome time spending in the game...
How can one possibly chose to play Horde after wandering amongst those forests listening to this truly enchanting music? One cannot fathom the decision made by those fools. They shall perish in flames for they have not LISTENED.
made a nightelf hunter, played a lot with mouth open due to the world, explored with lvl 20 nearly every flypoint on the continents, had fun exploring the hints (airport etc) by myself, was stunned by views and landscapes, had to travel through both of the continents to find pets which could teach me new petskills, sat on beautiful places with friends just talking, was happy like on birthday when i got the first mount, got first time into kara with totally underpowered group... and now...
My first char was a night elf hunter back in vanilla. I know I know typical. However I remember getting my pet finally at level 10 and then moving on to the new area and hearing this music play as I sent my pet in and fired off a few shots... man I could almost cry at how amazing that was. I will play WoW again.
Still coming back to this one all the way from when I first came across it in 2012. All the way back then I was already super nostalgic for this music that seemed so long ago. Now here I am nine years after that... 🎶🎶🎶
My first Character. A night elf. Playing through the world with this wonderous music...exploring all these new and wonderful areas. And...who could forget seeing and entering SW for the first time. Honestly There are alot of things I could do to have that feeling back.
I remember when i first saw ashenvale from auberdine. The music, and brilliant transition in treeline to these massive colourful trees was insane. Probobly my best moments in wow in respect to entertainment can be found in those early days.
gives me goosebumps hearing this again. The best game i ever played was World Of Warcraft... i loved it a little too much.. neglecting others who loved me... almost cost me my marriage.... just hearing this again reminds me of how good this game was... sends chills down my spine...i hear its gone down hill since i last played which was in 2010. Played for a good 4 years. The Music is the best.
Night Elves. No matter what anyone says about them, I love them to death. The serentiy of their lands before the burning legion and orcs came was like no other. I for one, would live here if I could choose one place in WoW. As long as this beautiful music piece is in the background of course ;]. This music truly fits well with the lands of the Night Elves--I love it!
i remember when i made a trial account and a night elf and was questing and this music came on, i was enchanted from there on it was such a butterfly feeling
I've always been the same way. The sheer atmosphere in the early days of the game [ and even now, the music alone can set you upon a thought rollercoaster ] has and always will be one of the most nostalgic areas of memory for me. Hearing this music again all I can think of is sitting outside the WSG entrance devotedly grinding honor and competing against comrades for rank in the old system, many years ago. It was such a different time, back then..
Games are always so much better the first few days / weeks you play them. This was the music I listened to for a few hours the first time I played WoW. Got a Night Elf Warrior to level 11! Pre-BC!
The beginning of WoW is my favorite part. I don't give a damn about being weak and powerless. The music... I could stay in north Kalimdor for the rest of my life.
Same here, first character was a night elf hunter in Vanilla, had no idea what I was doing, killing grellkins and boars in Teldrassil. The feeling was indescribable. Sad knowing I'll never experience it again :'(
My greatest vanilla moment was when I hit 24-29 and it had the old structure and landscapings... moving to the center of the map, nearby the night elf tower thingy abit to the east of the middle on the path passing through Ashenvale, climbing in the huge tree and moving out on the branch, see a horde/alliance moving on the ground below.... AMBUSH from the sky!!!!! xD God , all these memories :(
8 year old me running around on a hunter not knowing anything about this game with headphones on blaring this music in a pitch black room with nothing but the computer screen. For a brief moment i felt truly a part of the game. Greatest. Feeling. Ever.
To everyone wishing to relive this amazing game, head over to nostalrius and relive our childhoods:) At the moment it has a stable 9k people doing what you all speak about on here, join us..
please read the latest comment... Simón Salgueiro 2 months ago When WoW was actually fun and "misterious", when you actually had to put some effort on doing things, like travelling (which made every acomplishment feel great), and when people actually explored the world for fun and werent just grinding gear. Ye, i get why Blizzard made everything easier, to get to broader publics and ease the gameplay, but for me, it totally ruined the game. Felt like Blizzard was just serving me soup i could easy swallow after TBC. If you people are nostalgic, theres a private server called emerald dream feenix that runs vanilla wow 100% as it was. And works pretty well. I think they just opened AQ.
Civil DK all private servers suck, just wait for CoreCraft to release, its gonna be released in 2014< 0 bugs blizzlike check their website just google corecraft!
roflman87 What do you feel about CoreCraft now?Instand level 58 really?Makes you feel stupid right.Advertising a server that turned out to be totally crap.
my first char warrior night elf, i remember when i had 14 years old and and this game was so fantastic magical and my only life. greaat times thanks wow for taking care of my childhood
I remember when i first tried wow, with the 7 day trial. In the beginning of wotlk. i was a night elf warrior. and i looved the nice forest, the relaxing music, and everything else in teldrasil. when i started wow and got really in to it and when i found out that to level higher i had to get out of teldrasil, i was sad. because i had allmost fallen in love with teldrasil, i remember i often went back to teldrasil and just hang around doing some RP for myself in teldrasil, haha those were days...
@MicroPhi I wish I was new again too. That feeling of being new to THIS game is like an addiction. I'd trade my entire experience in WoW since TBC just to go back to buying that WoW copy at Gamestop on Saratoga Ave. Coming straight back to my grandmother's house (who we were staying at temporarily because we sold our house) putting that Disc 1 into my hard drive. Waiting a good half hour for it to install, made my first toon, a male night elf priest. And this music captivated me, SO hard.
@Brady2k10 I feel the same way too, but when I step back into Teldrassil the memories of when I first started just pour in. The good old days of farming spiders and thinking the fact that I had saved up 10 gold was amazing. The new quest chains in Cataclysm force the player to really get involved in the story line, which is nice... The undead chain was really cool, you should play it. And though the feeling I first had when I started is gone, I still play, I can always go back to Teldrassil.
I started wow in 2004 and played like 10 years. Today i still love that song and it make me feel better. That will stay in my memory for yhe rest of my life . ❤
I dont know....I think after all I really liked the process how a group was formed that took an hour and people going afk. I gave me the time to chat with people in the group and make friends...having good laughs and doing other stuff or exploring. These days, wow is just a mindless loop, over and over again the same thing and people dont say a word against eachother...no more friendship making, no more fun or exploring...wow is dead mates, hehe...its only there in my mind as a memory
It seems that all the people seeing this video including me get really nostalgic and feel great thinking back about the times we played our first night elf character through these woods. Blizzard made a true masterpiece with WoW, although the expansions are good they lost the magic vanilla WoW has. Beautiful music and the graphics have something special. Epic.
Those first 40 secodns sum up the feeling Vanilla WoW transmited to me: mistery and mystichism, were everything was new, but also, more rewarding. When players did things for fun, not only if there was a gain in the action (crossroads/astralaan raids or exploration, for example).
I remember playing in Vanilla. I made a human warlock and good GOD I HATED it! Leveling was so boring, I quit soon after. Jump to Cataclysm, I got curious, and my boyfriend bought me the game and made me play it and man, they improved questing so much. This time, I made a Night Elf Mage, and I heard this music and now it's forever embedded in my mind. I go back to Teldrassil and I get HUGE nostalgia fever. /endrant
@MicroPhi yea i feel that way too, it was so cool when i first started, i mean it was so exciting gonna go to new zones ive never been too before, new dungeons, quests etc but now ive seen it all, heard it all pretty much done everything. And i wanna feel like i did when i first started my trail on wow, just... words cant describe it, it was beautiful. And we're all so lucky because we all got to experience it, one of the first MMORPG games and we were part of it, thats magical.
First time entering elven forests and hearing this music I was really impressed and it took me away to some magical world.....it gave me extra joy cutting those tree-s for thrall and the horde :)
ive never played classic WoW, and i hear all of these things about it, but i think i understand how it left, not raiding but i get this feel, when im questing on Azeroth i get i way dif feel then in OL or NR, i like that feel
I remember when i first started playing wow, it was truly such an exciting and mysterious world that i could explore, played to my hearts content, still play to this day, ALOT has changed.. but i still think it is still once of the best MMORPG games ever! Lok'tar Ogar!
To this day when I hear the sound effect of an owl fighting or a chattering scorpion fighting, I am emotionally taken back to the earliest days of the WoW beta. At the time I had started both a tauren and a NE at the same time (and eventually ended up leveling them side by side to 60), and the low level mobs you first killed were those owls (ashenvale) and scorpions (durotar).
This music is absolutely beautiful and I do miss the old days of wow so much even as far as wow has come I would trade it all to be able to go back to the first few months. Everything was so much simpler and the game was truly at it's best then. The nostagia is a little overwhelming :(
I did indeed. Created massive feeling of accomplishment. Now it's just a random game without any hardship in it, which also removes the real feeling of reward after you did something that required some serious effort.
when i would go back to Darnassus, this would make me miss those days when i barely began playing WoW and one had to wait like 10min to finish a quest or had to join a group. i agree BabmerChan.
@arguuru there certainly wont be anything close to wow. I cheer about the luck I had to play this game while it was still magical. And I still enjoy the music like I did the very first day in northshire abbey, or the fun days in the barrens, or the wonderful rainy nights in feralas, or pvp'ing in warsong gulch, or while farming in lake wintergrasp, doing daylies in icecrown, doing business in ironforge, exploring hellfire peninsula, getting blown away by beauty in nagrand ...
this was always my favorite soundtrack i started in 07 i think, from playing runescape and spawned night elf druid and the night elf area blew my mind especially this music. best starting area imo
@MicroPhi Indeed. It's sad that it has lost it's ''Magic'' (At least i feel it kind of has). But i'm glad that it was WoW that took my ''Mmo-virginity'', just for the sheer fact that it was / is such an amazing game. Easy to get into, hard to master.
I personally look forward to it. The idea of a changing world is pretty innovative in mmos. Besides, I'm sure they'll set up seperate servers for the people who want to keep playing vanilla wow.
this reminds me of when i was a highschool freshman back in '05 and i used to get up at like 3 am to run around teldrassil for a few hours before school

Vath121 I feel you man. I'm sure we'd all give anything and everything to go back to those times.
Vath121 2005 reporting here. Nightelf druide, first char :)

SO much fucking god damn nostalgia ;w; People say you wasted your life on WoW. These were not wasted years way back when...... ;w; R.I.P. WoW
My mother tells me that same thing. But I wouldn't trade all those years I spent on the game for anything.
evilherodiamondcat jup. i havent played in ages, but this game has some great music indeed :)

Corecraft, 2014?
roflman87 What do you feel about CoreCraft now?Instand level 58 really?Makes you feel stupid right.Advertising a server that turned out to be totally crap.
I love this! That is why night elf is the best of them all!
one of the best blizzard OSTs great composition
my first char warrior night elf, i remember when i had 14 years old and and this game was so fantastic magical and my only life. greaat times thanks wow for taking care of my childhood
Cuantos recuerdos ....5 años o mas jugando al World. Ahora un descanso viene bien para desconectar.
😢😮😢
I started wow in 2004 and played like 10 years. Today i still love that song and it make me feel better. That will stay in my memory for yhe rest of my life . ❤
I dont know....I think after all I really liked the process how a group was formed that took an hour and people going afk. I gave me the time to chat with people in the group and make friends...having good laughs and doing other stuff or exploring.
These days, wow is just a mindless loop, over and over again the same thing and people dont say a word against eachother...no more friendship making, no more fun or exploring...wow is dead mates, hehe...its only there in my mind as a memory
The good ole days....
I remember running around on my night elf, with this playing in the background.
Gives me the chills....nice times there :(
It seems that all the people seeing this video including me get really nostalgic and feel great thinking back about the times we played our first night elf character through these woods.
First time entering elven forests and hearing this music I was really impressed and it took me away to some magical world.....it gave me extra joy cutting those tree-s for thrall and the horde :)
not only the music is awesome, the history is it too
ive never played classic WoW, and i hear all of these things about it, but i think i understand how it left, not raiding but i get this feel, when im questing on Azeroth i get i way dif feel then in OL or NR, i like that feel
I guess we all understand that! I also been through all that! It´s such a wonderful and magical work what blizzard made in this game.
The nostagia is a little overwhelming :(
😢 recuerdos que vivirán en nuestro corazón
I only play The Horde but absolutely love this music. Heard it when we went to raid Darnassus. A masterpiece.
The song at 4:45 is my favourite. it always came on when i discovered a new area.
I did indeed. Created massive feeling of accomplishment. Now it's just a random game without any hardship in it, which also removes the real feeling of reward after you did something that required some serious effort.
when i would go back to Darnassus, this would make me miss those days when i barely began playing WoW and one had to wait like 10min to finish a quest or had to join a group. i agree BabmerChan.
no no, i am, i grew up in wrath...so i got a chance to run around in old azeroth before the revamp...loved it.
My all time favorite soundtrack of all WoW! Ashenvale, Teldrassil, you will be missed (quit at the end of WotLK)
i wish to go back 5 years with a timemachine to the time my server was new and noobs are everywhere and i begin new :D
Rogue Night Elf between jobs 2006 to 2007 - music slays
This music is epic i´ll never forgott it !
I've never played WoW but the music makes me want to
@arguuru there certainly wont be anything close to wow.
Trop de souvenir, Juin 2005 sur Archimonde :)
blizz killed wow with wotlk and i havent played since then but i listen to the music everyday
This was my running music. Whenever it played, I ran around because it just fit so well.
If you where to walk in a random forest, and find a portal to Darnassus, would you take it?
Without hesitating bro ! :D
***** The dream!
Saga Jonsson hell yeah! I wanna go to the Temple of the Moon and sit there and enjoy the beautiful and enchanting melodies of it.
Fuck yeah real life makes me want to throw up
Definitely
@MicroPhi Indeed. It's sad that it has lost it's ''Magic'' (At least i feel it kind of has).
But i'm glad that it was WoW that took my ''Mmo-virginity'', just for the sheer fact that it was / is such an amazing game. Easy to get into, hard to master.
I personally look forward to it. The idea of a changing world is pretty innovative in mmos. Besides, I'm sure they'll set up seperate servers for the people who want to keep playing vanilla wow.
one of the best tracks in the game :)
Absolutely epic.
This is why I play in private servers based on older expansions :)
Ah, yes... the good old days. World of Warcraft in it's prime.
wow fantastic music! sounds magical and has advnture
Wow, this music is really nice and relaxing. And 7:00 is amazing!
this reminds me of when i was a highschool freshman back in '05 and i used to get up at like 3 am to run around teldrassil for a few hours before school
