Exhaust upgrades are one of the most common DIY tasks a motorcycle rider takes on. Headpipes, Slip Ons or Full Systems are swapped out in garages all over the world. There are few other upgrades that will set your bike apart from the rest in style, sound, and performance. Choosing the right exhaust may seem like a daunting task, but we are here to help you with our Exhaust Buyer’s Guide. From choosing the right exhaust for your ride to learning to do it yourself, J&P Cycles is here to help you through the process. To help with finding the right exhaust we put together a high-level Slip-On Exhaust Muffler Shoot Out. We snagged Slip Ons from top brands like Vance & Hines, Rinehart, Crusher, S&S, and Tab Performance for our 2017 Touring Model and lined them up for you to hear. All these pipes are available for your 1995-2017 Touring Model Harley Davidson motorcycles. Most Slip Ons can be installed in 20 minutes or less and do not require an air/fuel update. However, to get the most performance out of your ride Slip Ons can be paired with an air cleaner, head pipe, and fuel tuner/jet kit for carburetors. It just depends on how far you want to take it. Stay tuned for more how-to videos and feel free to call our Rider Service Center for all your technical questions.

Finally someone that can make a decent sound comparison video, demonstrating sound at idle, acceleration and cruise, all done outside and not in a garage. Thanks for sharing this. For me Vance and Hines sound the best followed by TAB.
Nice job!
Agreed I know what I’m buying now
I went with the Tabs, and have zero regrets. Especially now that they are "broken in". The sound representations in this video are pretty dam accurate. Thanks for the Vid
Vance & Hines sounds like the way to go
I think I like the sound of the last set the best. V&H can be counted on to make really well made stuff.
i added the vance and hines hi output slip ons 3 weeks ago ...added a v and h tuner and the v and h naked intake..it really woke the bike up ..i love it
I appreciate this video. I can hear the difference and I agree with some of the other comments that some of the pipes don't make much difference in sound but, the TAB and Vance & Hines really sound nice to me. Thanks. You've helped me get closer to making a good choice in purchasing my slip-ons.
What baffle was on the TAB
@@quaidobert8548 zombie
I really liked the Vance and Hines it was slightly deeper definitely what I’m going with
SO I closed my eyes and just listened and the TAB was my favorite until the Vance and Hines. But I did like the TAB at 45 in 3rd over the Vance and Hines. Pius I had no idea witch was witch with my eyes closed. Good job there guys.Keep up the good work...
I have Crusher and zero regrets. I get compliments all on the sound all the time .
I'm a V&H fan had them on my last two bikes to me they sound the best and are great in quality. Thanks for providing the comparison.
I have the V&H HO on mine SG, sound great. Nice low growl, but not overly load, but load enough to hear at 75mph.
VANCE AND HINES HI OUTPUT is what I have on my bike
Same here! Got 'em on my 2020 Street Glide. Love 'em!👍
Just installed the 4.5" TAB BAM Sticks with Zombie baffle on a 2021 Road Glide. They sound awesome! Not too loud on the highway but sound great when you get on it.
Great sound comparison video. Very unbiased and well done. Looking forward to more video's like this from you guys.
Thank you for taking the time to put together this video. I am considering slip-ons for my street glide special and your video was a big help.
Sound level meter would have been nice add on to video. I enjoyed the comparison, thanks.
They all sounded stock to me, i guess the cat in the head pipe is killing it!
TABS all the way! Sounds like a original classic Harley.
Your videos are very well done, and I like they way you provide information. Keep up the good work.
Thanks,
L.K.
I have the TAB on my 2019 Road Glide and am very pleased.
I bought Rinehart's slip on's luv them! On my 107 road king...
THANK YOU SO MUCH, YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST. YOU ALL LOVE YOUR CLIENTS AND DO THE BEST TO MAKE THEM HAPPY.
THANK YOU ALOT.
Now that's how you make a video 👍
First great comparison!
Just a suggestion that you should edit with your exhaust videos is Decibel dB measurements in idle and around 2500 rpm. Why, cause not all your costumers are from states or Us, but also from around the world (Im from Denmark Scandinavia) . And sadly many Countries are now a days putting sound level requirements on motorcycles.
Your videos are great, but this little extra detail would be the cherry on top. For riders that love a great exhaust but doesn't want to be obnoxious loud Or to get tickets from the local Sherriff .
THEM TABS SOUNDS THE BEST
those tabs sounds beautiful
Just as an FYI the TAB Performance B.A.M. Sticks in this video are the ones with the zombie baffle option.

i agree, crusher a close 2nd
Those TAB are my choice.
Awesome video. I have been waiting for several months because I did not want to buy the wrong exhaust.
I agree with Steven. Once you change to a set of headers, the sound is radically different. Not necessarily louder, but often deeper and more rumble.
Actually it will be louder. The catalytic converter muffles a good bit of sound.
Thank you. That's a great comparison. I ordered the Tab exhaust, K&N air filter and the PV-2 tuner. I will post again after in receive and install them.
well?
I have Vance & Hines on my 06 fxsts and on my 08 flhtcuse3. Just bought a 19 limited street glide out in California all stock. Thinking of going with the tabs. Was this video done with stock headers?
Is it ok to just add Slip ons? Or will the bike require retuning? I am just about to take delivery of a 2020 Street Glide Special.
excellent comparison, Tabs is beautiful sound. thanks for video
Vance and Hines!
great video, Tab was the best in my opinion, was everything else stock on the bike except the slip ons' ?
Not the stoke for sure . The 2ND one and last best sound . Nice video 🔥
I Love the sound of the TAB exhaust, thanks for your test trails, I have a Harley Trike/114 so this is gonna sound great.
My mom bought me a Harley with a sick exhaust. Now I'm a bad ass.
Thanks for all the work involved. They all sound good.
Are all these pipes CARB certified so as not to void the warranty?
What issue will occur removing the stock baffles and wi it void moco warranty? Thanks....oh and can I do this at home?
Wow I'm so new to Harley eye squeak I just bought my first one. I can barely tell the difference between any of them the last two I can hear a little. but my hearing has changed over the years. But then again I have a decent singing voice but everyone keeps saying, I sound like a hound dog being bit by raccoon. So it is what it is.
Sorry if i"ve missed it but which baffles did the TABs have?
Tab - Bam Stick. The Vance and Hines close second
same here
4.5 Tab performance with zombie baffles kicks ass!
How he did this with a straight face, I'll never know.
This is a great comparison. Thank you! The TABS and Rinehart Racing Motopro 45 sound great!
I agree, full system!
vh sounds low base cool tone love it
Thank you and thank you. I can pick one now.
Vance and Hines...the top !
S&S. No Doubt!😎
I'm still trying to decide on my slip ons and keep coming back to this video as it's the best comparison video out there imo, letting you here idle and under load and not just revving it at a stand still. I'm trying to decide between Hi Outputs and Twin Slash though, is there any chance you could do a comparison of stock vs hi output vs twin slash please?
Thank you for your work. You saved me time and money, I appreciate it!
Awesome comparison video. All sound good~, hard to decide
Are the bam sticks the zombies or the louvered core ?
went with the crushers and love them. on to headers now.
Why. It also test out the Bassani? I’ve got a ‘17 Streetglide with these on but also with the headers, they are a true dual exhaust, and the sound is awesome!
TABs sound nice! Do you need to remap if just doing slip ons?
No
Bam Stick Hands down Best!
What baffle did you use for those tabs because saw they had different ones for a different sound. Was it the zombie baffles
These did have the Zombie baffles.
Are the tab slip-ons the zombies or no baffles?
Stock sounds good also thanks for video
I've read a lot of conflicting statements about the Milwaukee Eight having to have a Pro Street Tuner addition even if all you're putting on are the slip-ons. Any validity to that statement? I've always heard that if you're not changing the air box or head pipes a retune isn't required.
Some will say to always change the tune when you do anything, including just slip ons. For the most part, you don't need to as you said unless you change the air cleaner to a high flow. The new mufflers are way less restrictive on the mM8 equipped bikes than previous years, so it shouldn't change much more than sound if that is all you change. We did slip ons on our M8 and it ran fine without a tune. Once I did the air cleaner, I added the Cobra tuner and it works well with the bike. Thanks for watching.
does this void the Harley warranty not EPA copliant
@ fourftr. Slip-ons are okay. You can't change the header pipes or it will void your warranty. Wouldn't make much sense for Harley to market their own Screaming Eagle muffler line if you couldn't put them on without voiding the warranty. A lot of guys have them installed on new bikes before they ride it off the lot.
By the way, the advice I got from J&P was spot on. Put a set of Screaming Eagles on my SG with the stock air cleaner and no re-tune and it runs great.
Think I'd have to give the nod to vance & hines
Hmm, very interesting. Thanks for that video. Very helpful.
I suppose the tabs are my favorite so far... but they all sound anemic to me. But I'm coming off a carbed Ultra with V&H pipes that popped so nice!
I'm on the lookout for the loudest slip ons I can find for my new to me 17 limited.
for the M8. SVT bone shakers or Tab zombies.
@@geraldgoodiii6993 I put the Tab Performance BAM mufflers with the Zombie baffles on my M8 Limited. I have a video on here... that was 5k miles ago... they sound even better!!!
is that a 107 or 114 engine?
V&H all the way!
Well done, this is the way to do a proper comparo.
Thanks. Look for the follow up video using these slip ons with different head pipes to come in the next month.
Is a any exhaust system to make this Bike sound like a Harley? Loud&Mean Thanks
Jim D Vance and Hines. If you want it louder and meaner, take the fibreglass packing out and reinstall the baffles without it.
Definitely Vance & Hines
Tab performance !! 💪
Vance and Hines hi output
Got 'em on my 2020 Street Glide
Thanks a Lot. Great job.
Good job, thank you 🫡
what about decibel sound ....maybe on the vance and hines 41/2 high output
Nice job. Thanks for the work
Vance and Hines!!!
I personally know several loud exhaust folks who otherwise seem to have some good qualities.
Good video but now it is outdated. Can we get an update?
Great video! But I still go with the stock pipes. Anything louder and I can't hear my lovely wife barking directions at me or telling me she has to pee.
2nd one is the best
Thx J&P
Great video. Well done.
V&H sounded the best imo
S&S 2nd best
you should put CFR to your line up. no exhaust sounds like CFR.
I put CFR’s on my 2017 Ultra Limited and they are nice and deep, but bike is still not very loud.
At 45mph the only one that was different from stock was the Tabs.
I'd like to hear what the cfr sound like on a 2017 with an open stock head pipe
Great video!!
Tab sound the best raw sound especially at idle
Do I have to change the air filter or computer changes if I put the slip ons only?
You do not have to, but with a proper tune you can gain horsepower even on a stone cod stock bike.
Did u have remap with the slip on alone
no
for me it's Vance and Hines hands down
Stock for me!
In high school I used loud exhaust noise to get attention.
Then I graduated.
Im using english generated caption feature on youtube, and when u start ur engine with ur stock muffler the caption catch it as [Laughter]
Idk that caption also laughing for the stock muffler lol
Great job. Thx
So beautiful.... but i will choose mk45
Those are great mufflers
To be honest I think the cheap cfr knockoffs, sound better than all those , megaphone on ebay
Vance& hines
Think I'll run my factory pipes until my warranty runs out, then customize my bike........
