- GREAT project for beginners. Swimsuits are one of my favorite things to make! They require minimal fabric -usually less that 3/4 a yard- and you don't have to add darts or be a pro at draping to make them fit. Just sit back and rely on the stretch! Be sure to let me know which one you like best!

honestly, it's kinda bizarre.
I would wear running shorts to go swimming and I would get weird looks. When everyone else is in there underwear.

I really appreciate that she does tutorials on how to make your own clothes. It helps fight one of the most dangerous things to the environment: fast fashion.

I'm a teen, and I can never find bathing suit bottoms that aren't too revealing, and I just love the way you made your bottoms, but it's a little hard to keep track of what you are doing bc you talk really fast
Slow the video down then... its easy and makes following tutorials way easier!
I can't agree more, usually the top is beautiful and has a decent coverage and the bottom don't even cover properly the butt, not to mention when I'm actually swimming and the fabric is so poorly secured that it's falling apart.
I literally bought a bunch of fabric today to make my own cuz i cant find a single suit I like!
I would sew a boy short bottom or add a swim skirt. Or make a skort, kwik sew has a cute simple skort pattern that can be made with 2 way stretch fabric.
i also suggest writing out the steps beforehand instead of relying on the video

The chicken was doing a Death Drop.
I inherited a cool vintage bathing suit my great grandma had. The method of support in the suit needed to be changed for it to work on me so I got a cheep bra from walmart and sewed it to the inside of the swimsuit. I took the wire out incase it had a weird reaction to the older fabric that wasn't lycra (I have no clue what it is) But the support from a standard bra can be really helpful in a bathing suit. (even a cheap ill-fitting one)
ALSO: if you are into making bathing suits or repurposing a thrifted one, I recommend looking up a brand called miracle suits and using some of their designs as inspiration, especially for one-pieces.

ok, so for the longest time i’ve felt incredibly self conscious going to the beach or a public pool because i could never find a bathing suit that didn’t make me hate myself. but when i saw this video, i decided that i was going to make my own bathing suit. most bathing suits make me dysphoric, being non-binary and with no bathing suits that fit me and don’t accentuate the chest. i usually ended up wearing a shirt overtop or just not going in. but i finished making a bathing suit following this tutorial today, and when i tried it on i legitimately cried. i actually looked good in it, and it didn’t make me hate the way my body looks. i am so incredibly thankful for this tutorial, and for once am actually excited for the summer and swimming. i just want to say how amazing this video is.

I have a surgical feeding tube that I'm really self conscious about and after having it placed I thought I'd never wear cute swimsuit again because the tube is above my belly button and no highrise bottoms come up high enough and all the one piece bathing suits have the cut outs right over the belly button area so that even made them a no go most of the time. So inconvenient, I don't care if they are flattering (btw not always though, too much rise can look stupid) they are uncomfortable af. But I cracked the code for myself, bottoms that are not fully covered on the sides and let some skin show there (while still covering the whole "middle area") provide similar optical illusions of a longer leg :) Those work wonders for me!

I know that you think that making these video "tutorials" isn't helping anyone be productive, but I have definitive proof that isn't true: since watching your videos I've been inspired to actually FINISH my embroidered jeans, crochet a gel pen case (it's a rainbow!), and now my best friend and I are working on sewing pillows for each other with our symbol (a purple butterfly - it's been our thing since we were like 12). Your existence is a blessing for so many reasons, and please know that the stuff you put out here is never posted in vain
