holy moly i've never been this early to a willow vid, i'm so proud of the progress you've made as a creator man, you've taken beautiful inspiration for other great creators and turned it into your own. here's to 100k soon 🙏
My mom was watching me start fallout4 recently and figured out the plot twist right away watching Nate get unfrozen and frozen again. Losing more time. I was impressed but also disappointed, realizing that she wouldnt have scoured the wasteland looking for me. 😢
A couple of things that probably would've made this run easier: 1) Swan does self-damage on his slam attacks. You totally could've killed him at the start by staying in the Part Street Station entrance and baiting out that attack until he kills himself without risking taking any damage. 2) I'm assuming you banned yourself from using Power Armor for this run, but tbh I'd consider it an unarmed weapon on its own. Maybe just using the arm pieces would've worked, they even have upgrades for unarmed damage. Well done on the run, though, definitely looks like one of the more difficult ones you've done. Have you ever considered doing a Frost playthrough?
I tried that strategy with swan, but it didn't work, I couldn't make it the stack without taking damage myself. I'm sure someone could have done it but I wasn't patient enough to. I plan to do a power armor only run at some point which would of made it worse to use it as an unarmed weapon I may do a frost playthrough.
Ah, that's unfortunate. Oh well, if anything it just made the run more interesting/challenging. Understandable, I'm sure that one will be fun. Awesome, it's my favorite way to play FO4 tbh. I even started making mods partially because of Frost, it inspired me to make the vanilla game more challenging in the survival aspect.
Writing from 6:34 from the Video. Why not get the guranted deathclaw-guntlet from the mission with the dumwick museum? You can grab the Egg, without killing the Savage deathclaw, and then return it to the mother, where the is a Deatclaw-guntlet in the nest (not in the inventory of the nest). I do that almost every time I start a run.
Im really glad you do these runs i play fallout 4 on the original xbox one and it always crashes for me after a certain point so i get to feel the nostalgia through yoir videos because i absolutely love fallout i even have the fallout cookbook
YOOOOO, nice to be this early! After a playthrough or two of ANY Bethesda game I always do an unarmed run since I have a thing for going bare knuckle against dragons and super soldiers that wear tanks. Btw, I recommend you do a challenge were you only put points into like two special stats, you can level their perks all you want but you can ONLY put more into the 1 or 2 you start out with (I did this for example, I keep everything at 1 except Strength, Charisma and Luck (Luck has 7 instead of 10) and I COULD invest in the first perk of the other stats but only that). If you want an additional challenge, I recommend you do this with Endurance, Charisma and either Intelligence or Agility since they provide the least amount of buffs or range for builds so you have to get creative...that or you could do a nerd rage/adrenaline junkie run. I wish you the best man! Keep up the amazing work!
This video is hilarious, great stuff Willow! I did my first challenge run to one similar to this, except I couldn't use any items but bottlecaps and quest items. So basically unarmed(but no weapons, just bare fist), underwear, and drinking water from water sources, using bottlecaps to heal my rads and health with a doctor, and that's it, I did it on very easy and it was still tough, so I feel your pain on this one. I then tried to do that same run on survival and include being able to eat food(but only to satisfy my hunger, not heal), and use antibiotics, it went horrible, I made it further than I thought I would but just couldn't beat it, I want to revisit that one, but I don't know if I will, lol!
Ngl one of my fav parts is whenever Willow inevitably hits an inadvertent tongue twister 😂 always amusing, and the runs are always interesting to watch!
Perhaps a good time to do the enclave missions would be in a run with Fire only, where you can only use flamethrower, molotovs, the plasma weapon in flamethrower mode and the new heavy flammer, that is because the enclave have the heavy flammer and the hellfire power armor
really great video. I think i would like to see a unarmed playthrough but fist only, using only the "Unarmed gameplay Overhaul" mod for the Counter system. It actually makes it look like your actually having a full on fist fight with someone instead of standing in place swinging.
Excellent run as always.I have an idea for a run that might be fun . A vault dweller run only vault tech clothing and armor vault suit,( any vault suit) convent armor or vault tech lab coat. For weapons only the 10 mm and baton from the vault can be used . Any mods are allowed so long as you keep the original weapons also you must have 10 intelligence
18:25 for future challenge run reference, that other unnamed Minuteman is functionally immortal for the entire duration of Taking Independence. He is tagged as essential bc he immediately takes over as radio operator once you power the station again Echoes of the Past (N-G quest) marker is just North of Saugus, or you can trigger it by completing any of the other quests relating to the various Enclave gear from the Creation Club. Be warned that once you complete any of the Enclave related quests it will trigger a kill squad to start hunting you down. They will typically ambush you within 48 in game hours, assuming they don't do so immediately. I recommend doing Speak of the Devil first as that nets you a set of X-02 PA for minimal effort. There is a scripted ambush at the end of this quest that is separate from the kill squad ambush related to the update. From there, upgrade the PA and head north of Saugus to start the quest chain. It will take you to the Glowing Sea and by the time its all said and done you can walk away with a dozen or so assorted suits of Hellfire and X-02 PA, plenty of leveled combat armor (including helmets), and lots of plasma guns/ammo/grenades. If you use rifles and have Penetrator or can get behind the PA wearers, you can even take out the cores and potentially get the frames as well.
An easy way to dominate the defend the castle missions is to: 1. block off all the walls, and leave the door open, to force the synths to come through one spot. And 2. I literally just finished the same challenge last weekend. The biggest difference is when you say no armor. What you did was a naked run. I still used clothing to my advantage. Like the suspenders and slacks for +2 End. And a sea captain hat for another+2. The look went great with the deathclaw gauntlet, that is super easy to get when you're wearing no armor and start with 9 Agility.
you'd think with how wrong you are about synth lore it'd be surprising considering the sheer number of times the game beats you over the head with the fact that gen 3 synths are identical to regular humans in every way except for the synth component, but it's not really surprising at all because for some reason it's really common for people to think they're not despite that
if you go into the institute and check out the terminals in the robotics section where they are creating the synths it mentions everything I said, also they talk about how synth shaun will never grow up and people feel weird about that. I'm not wrong, the writers of the game were confused. They wanted to have their cake and eat it too. All they had to do was not write down and add dialogue to the game that states the synths don't age, need food, and are immune to diseases. THEY ADDED THAT TO THE GAME. and then had the audacity to say that everyone in the commonwealth looking for synths are so braindead they couldn't find out these very obvious signs of someone being a synth.
to add to my earlier reply, this is on the wiki for gen 3 synths. Third gens are physically incapable of gaining weight past a predetermined limit.[15] Max Loken, a scientist in Robotics, claims that synths do not require sleep at all to function properly, are completely immune to disease, and do not require the intake of food to function fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Generation_3_synth#:~:text=Third%20gens%20are%20physically%20incapable,intake%20of%20food%20to%20function.
Had an idea about a "silver tongue" playthrhough. Where you try to kill as little as possible using perks like animal whisperer, intimidation, and ghoulish to make as many friends as you can. As for gear I am thinking simple clothing ballistic weave allowed and small arms maybe the deliverer as the best one.
Challenge suggestion: Using only legendary items and cannot have more than 1 legendary type. Example Can only use armor with the legendary effect of Sprinters. And doing the same with weapons. You could use a mod to make everything legendary or just roll with whatever legendary effect drops from the first legendary encounter.
I did the same thing some time ago, called it the masochist run. Although, i allowed myself to wear grognak suit as its not really an armor and gives the 25% damage buff. I restrained myself from using swan's power fist though
my next run is already finished recording, it's in cyberpunk, and it's the longest video by far I've ever made, gonna be coming out early December so make sure to sub and hit the bell if you wanna see it!
Purposefully nerfing your levelling speed was actually a legit genius idea. - Could've also pulled a Proctor Ingram and picked up a power armor frame but strip it of all the actual armor? I don't know if the frame on its own would give any armor aside for I think rad protection. Not even doing that though is peak madlad energy and you have to respect it.
@@callumwhitmore1107 then it would've counted as armor, I was refering more to the power armor chassis. Besides, for ultimate unarmored build he could've added something like tesla coils on the torso
i love these fallout vids but if you could make some that maybe show more gameplay like maybe 1 hour that would be amazing still i absoloutely love your vids
Can you beat Fallout 4 without taking any increases to damage or defense? No drugs or alcohol of any sort, no companions, strength and endurance are only okay if they allow an increase to your speed, and obviously no stealth/sneak. Basically, it's a pacifist build, but you're not a pacifist. Instead, you are an Olympic runner who just wants to out speed everything.
So I am at 8:44 currently, My man i suppose you meant no armor whatsoever, but i mean you could have dressed up in some stupid ways using the "armor" that just boost stats and no actual armor rating. still this will be an interesting watch.
Wasn't worth it, stats wise it seems marginally better than the fully upgraded brass knuckles damage wise, unless I misread the stat sheet which is possible
My rules are about using bugs and glitches to exploit the game. Not exploits themselves. Also this one is silly, they added crafting exp to the game, they added the shelves to the game in the way they did. and people say it's a bug or glitch or exploit to use that but I'm not going out of my way at all to break the games code. Just crafting in the settlement system.
@@WillowPlaysGames To clarify, building XP itself isn’t what I’m calling an exploit. What is an exploit is the technique known as "shelf stacking". This is widely recognized in the community as an exploit because it involves using the only object in the game that can be placed within itself. You might argue, "But if it wasn’t patched by the developers, it must not be an exploit!" That’s incorrect. Bethesda has a long history of leaving both game-breaking and minor bugs in their games, intentionally or not. For example, changing the building limit without using the console is a well-known exploit that remains unpatched. You said you would avoid exploits, and shelf stacking falls into that category. As an alternative, you could use mats or posts. Mats can be stacked on top of each other, but not within themselves. Posts require proper placement and removal, which ensures that building XP is earned without relying on exploits. so this run is technically dead as you did exploit. BUT. just wanted to let you know you didnt keep with the rules you set! no hate! I did enjoy the video! you're a real funny lad and I will definitely subscribe if I haven't already! :)
@@WillowPlaysGames This is why some people avoid it as much as possible or even seek mods to disable it entirely. I can totally understand the argument that it's fair-"Your character is working hard to build that generator, so earning XP for it seems justified." But did he really work hard? From my perspective, it looked more like he just made it appear out of thin air-poof, and it’s there. There wasn’t any real effort involved. I get why people would immerse themselves into the world and justify it this way, instead of focusing on the "game system" logic, but for me, it feels like a stretch. It's an interesting contrast between role-playing immersion and the exploitation of game mechanics! its just my opinion tho. and after all its a sandbox game. but with rules people like myself debate if building xp is fair in this type of run. becuase at this point why not just use the console and add levels? lol
edit: you misunderstood something and just noticed, I said in my rules 'I cannot use glitches or bugs to exploit the game.' not using exploits in general because it's too vague imo, some people claim using VATS to scan for enemies is an exploit. you see, I just disagree because I feel it's a bad faith argument from you, not to say I don't respect you or your opinion, you can see the run as a failure and I invite that, but I will simply never agree that this is using a glitch to exploit the game because you can even admit that the run is effectively identical if I use posts instead of shelves. I actually respect the whole 'using building xp to level up makes the run invalid' a lot more than 'using shelves instead of posts makes it invalid.' because neither of these requires an appreciable amount of effort, neither of these changes the run. now to clarify, I think building xp is fair game, plenty of people disagree and I welcome that. I just think getting into the weeds on 'well shelves shouldn't stack it's a bug and thus invalidates the run' is just a silly hill to stand on. I also don't believe that shelf stacking is an issue because if I truly cared about the effort it saves me then I'd instead farm crafting xp by mass producing caltrops... which are the same level of effort as the shelves. I also am not convinced the shelves stacking is a bug or a glitch in the first place, maybe they are made that way intentionally so you can clip shelves together to make it seem like there's a really long shelf. I'm just not really convinced by this when I can come up with a valid reason why things are the way they are. anyways, that's how I see it! I'm happy ya left your opinions as I love reading them, you are beautiful and I'm glad you enjoyed the run, I'm also glad you subscribed. thanks for the support and I wish you a happy thanksgiving.
Here's somethig i just thought of, why did the Mayor have so many keys to Kellogs house? Theres atleast 2 but i think 3. The one in the secretary's desk and the one thats in the Mayors safe. Im wanting to say that since he's a synth he knew what Kellog was doing but why were there so many?
I feel like armor should be allowed but not armor mods or perks or even upgrades. And nothing legendary or with any added special stats or modifiers. But to each their own

A challenger on I would love to see you do, came from another guy. He did the Fallout 4 survival difficulty while keeping to California regulations
2 days ago I started a run of only punching is really difficult
I asked for this and you did, You did it naked 😂 fair play ❤❤❤
U can unequip the vault suit before any combat by storing it in a container
I was literally just thinking about the challenge.
❤ love this channel
glad you do!
"CQC, the very basics of combat."
i love these fallout vids but if you could make some that maybe show more gameplay like maybe 1 hour that would be amazing still i absoloutely love your vids
I have multiple that are close or over an hour long
@@WillowPlaysGamesYes and we love them!
I was waiting that
Getting blasted by Henry is tight
You beautiful pitch meetings connoisseur
I tired this but I had power armor and it was actually driving me insane
I LOVE YOUR VIDS
WHY ARE WE YELLING?
CAUSE THEY ARE AMAZINGLY GOOD ❤
JUST FINISHED YOUR VID DIED LAUGHING
Can you beat Fallout 4 without taking any increases to damage or defense? No drugs or alcohol of any sort, no companions, strength and endurance are only okay if they allow an increase to your speed, and obviously no stealth/sneak. Basically, it's a pacifist build, but you're not a pacifist. Instead, you are an Olympic runner who just wants to out speed everything.
Yeah this was worth dropping everything else! College essays can wait
Good luck with your essay after you finish this video!
@@WillowPlaysGames thanks! Love the videos
So I am at 8:44 currently, My man i suppose you meant no armor whatsoever, but i mean you could have dressed up in some stupid ways using the "armor" that just boost stats and no actual armor rating. still this will be an interesting watch.
if I did that I'd have a wave of comments saying that the run is failed because I wore a dress.
Codsworth watches the Simpsons I see

Super easy barely an inconvenience.
THROUGH THE FIRE AND FLAMES WE CARRY ON!
Jet is your friend when doing meele run
hell yea
brother!
time for a smackdown
Idk what to say to this except this run should have been called "Hide that bare naked booty"
I’m surprised you didn’t just go get the deathclaw gauntlet
Wasn't worth it, stats wise it seems marginally better than the fully upgraded brass knuckles damage wise, unless I misread the stat sheet which is possible
@@WillowPlaysGames it’s slightly better with the extra claw, but takes more effort than just doing the knuckles, at least until you can kill swan
it wouldn't of made killing swan possible earlier unless it did like 10x damage.
10:15 im 98% sure this counts as a exploit as its known the shelves arent supposed to stack inside themselves like this.
@@WillowPlaysGames
To clarify, building XP itself isn’t what I’m calling an exploit.
@@WillowPlaysGames
This is why some people avoid it as much as possible or even seek mods to disable it entirely.
I actually respect the whole 'using building xp to level up makes the run invalid' a lot more than 'using shelves instead of posts makes it invalid.'
because neither of these requires an appreciable amount of effort, neither of these changes the run.
now to clarify, I think building xp is fair game, plenty of people disagree and I welcome that.
Backups.
Your worst mistake in this run was not getting the death claw gauntlet
Ha i started a new play threw as Ippo.
Good thing i didnt want to sleep tnt
Hello, I have a challenge for you. Beat Fallout 4 with zero weight. I'll give you a hint: you can do this with quest items. I wish you good luck😘
I feel like armor should be allowed but not armor mods or perks or even upgrades. And nothing legendary or with any added special stats or modifiers. But to each their own
NAKED NORA
Fallout 4 really dropped the ball when it came to unarmed weapons.
