Thanks for the vid. Am all in favor of white elastomeric roof paint directly on conventional pitched asphalt shingle roofs. It works well. I painted Home Depot Henry brand/Lowes Black Jack brand (several other brands exist) white roof paint with a conventional 9" paint roller on a stick, least expensive grade directly on my conventional asphalt shingle roof in 2008. Applied about 4 coats to completely seal any gaps, especially where one shingle overlaps atop its downhill neighbor shingle. Used aluminum tape to seal bigger than 1/4" gaps or wherever bolstering needed, such as a protrusion from the roof or where a nailhead appears atop the shingle layer around the perimeter of the roof every 1-2 feet or so, then painted over the aluminum tape with white roof paint. In 2017, 9 years later, it's still going strong. Much cheaper than a reroof, saves on cooling bills, seals leaks and stops new leaks. Also painted the drip lip around the perimeter of the roof so precipitation touches nothing but white roof paint til it hits the ground. Don't like white? Paint over the white with the exterior grade paint of your choice of color, including the same color as your old shingles if you prefer. As a test, painted an inconspicuous piece of the roof with the date in mid 2015 in a dark color. In 2017, it looks like it was painted on yesterday, with no visible wear. On the elastomeric white roof paint can label, it may say don't apply on shingles. Ignore this if your asphalt shingles are pitched conventional or pitched rolled and aged over 30 days. The white roof paint adheres very well when painted directly on the aged shingles.

if this is not for flat roofs, what do you recommend for flat roof sections over patios that use the asphalt roll? It's about 15' wide by maybe 30 foot long. It's 23 years old and doesn't leak but it's lost most of it's little rocks and is blistering in a few spots. Hoping to get a couple more years out of it before replacing.

Where do you buy this? I can't find it anywhere. I'm located in USA and it's not for sale on website or ebay or Amazon.

i love the comments by the know it alls and the roofer "specialists" that must spend lots of time surfing the web looking for things to bitch about. if you spent more time earning a living and minding your own business you would have less time to complain about the struggles of others trying to make a living or share their experiences.

I completed the 4 years of trade school required to earn my Journeymans card in Roofing & Waterproofing in 1981 ,ive been a senior foreman at the countrys largest union roofing contractor for 22 years overseeing jobs as large as 11,000 square ,ive applied tens of thousands of square in cold tar spray down Built Up Roofing and as many square in premium roof coatings ,in my 42 years as a Master Waterproofer ive never seen any manufacturer specify a shingle tab be stapled down,or even nailed down with exposed fasteners protected by nothing more than a 20 to 30 mil thick top coating ,the home owner would be just as well burning $100 bills once an hour for 24 hours as they would be having shingle tabs stapled down with some magic sauce sprayed over the roofing system .

There’s a lot of stupid people out there. If you have a leaky old roof than replace it. This isn’t for fixing old leaky roofs. If you have a good roof and just want to change the color so it looks better with your house paint then here’s the solution. Roofers will always want you to spend $15-$30k to replace a good roof just to change the color.

That tie off point is the dumbest shit I've seen. If that guy trips over his own rope he will definitely hit the ground with all that slack

Never under any circumstances and I mean never should you coat a shingle roof. This is completely insane to even suggest to people. This will create tens of thousands of water traps and make leaks appear throughout the entire roof. The shingles repaired around the chimney were not even staggered. That is just absolutely the worst way to install shingles as the purpose of the proper installation is to lap all shingle in a 6" weaved pattern to prevent water intrusion. There is no way in the world that a coating would seal a non-staggered shingle joint. That just is scientifically impossible. Those shingles appeared to have 6 or more years left to them depending on the environment so why would you even consider coating them and destroying them? You can not in no way long term prevent water from getting under the coating and it's all down hill from there. Every time I have seen any attempt to coat shingles it has failed miserably and I have seen many of them. It is my professional opinion suggested by this video that Techniseal does not have a good understanding of how coatings work and/or fail miserably.
