I've had the chance to meet with Alex. He's taken me backstage. Sit at side stage watch him play. Have more personal lessons with Alex than I can ever count. And every now and again a text to see how he's doing. He is a phenomenal person. I can't say it enough
Best drummer Arkaik ever had. His era was the golden era of that band imo. Metamorphignition is the jam!! Dude deserves every bit of praise he gets. Super proud to see his career develop too.
Alex's commitment to his craft comes obviously across in his playing, so it's great to hear him putting it into words. Great job as usual Phillip. You're getting better as an interviewer with every episode. We love to see it!
Great talk! I am a guitarist and I don't know anything about playing drums, but I think you can learn a lot from musicians like Alex. He's absolutely phenomenal.
I don't listen to Trivium, so had no idea who this guy was. But what a fantastic interview! He seems like such a genuinely good person, very open and insightful. Many thanks for this Phillip!
If you are into Death Metal, check out his work on the two Arkaik albums he played on, 'Metamorphignition' and 'Lucid Dawn'. He's also played drums for a ton of other killer DM bands, dude is a crazy hard worker. Check out his Metallum page, dude has a heck of a resume.
Alex's dedication and humility are truly inspiring! For any musician, it would be an absolute honor to have the chance to talk with him someday. Hey Alex! If our paths ever cross, perhaps at a show with my band Tendercore, having a conversation with you would be incredibly valuable and special. Your work continues to set the bar high in the metal scene and please always stay this way because the milestones ahead of you will become even more special for sure!
Such a pleasant person. I am inspired by the depth of commitment. It seems to me that now with music in a sort of precarious position we must all try to remain clearheaded and focused. I'm a guitarist. To have this man with this level of skill and such an excellent personality is a real blessing. Great tone too! On the audio and instrumental. Thank you, Alex and DrumTalk!
Funny, when the question about the early influances came up, I thought too myself "oh fear factory was a big one, especially when it comes to double bass", and a second later you both mention them too. Very cool 😊
Man has been in 3 albums of Trivium and created 3 masterpieces.

One of the best and natural interviews I’ve seen. Excellent questions and answers. Kudos to both of you👏🏻👏🏻
thank you so much Kristi!

For me that's the sign of a good channel, making an interview that appeals to most people, and then making it memorable.
man, thank you sooo much guys! I really appretiate it!
and yes, Alex is not just an amazing player but a real sweetheart

@22:24 -- If I went from Mat Madiro and Paul Wandtke to Alex Bent as my drummer, I would be excited too 🙂
Brilliant interview! Was just recently looking for more Alex interviews and this really scratches that itch
glad this one could fill the gap.... 😉

Alex is a beast!!
Very cool!👍
Another great drum talk episode! Any word on when you’ll be releasing the Gus Rios interview?!
what about tomorrow?
How do you stay so humble Mr. Bent?

Looks like the drummer who opened up for cannibal in 2012.
