But who wants to play without NOS? :)
Honestly, proper racing lines with occasional glance in the rearview mirror is all you need to keep the opponents behind you. NOS was just a cool fad at the time. Except for maybe during drag events, otherwise it can be completely ignored.
All I can think about when I see or hear about the Dodge Neon I just think of the "Dodge FUCKING Neon" series of videos from Slipphantom, absolutely amazing lmao
I actually did this challenge 2 years ago, and i actually cleared every event on Hard with the Dodge Neon. It's just really difficult and requires alot of luck to do: The only issue i had was the drag race event called "Straight Up". The red 350Z opponent named Ishii always pulls away from the Neon no matter if you get the perfect launch, and there's no traffic to stop him. The only way to beat it on hard difficulty is to lower the upgrades of the Neon so that the opponents will also be the same upgraded parts as you. I lowered the Neon to the level 1 parts and was able to beat the 350Z. All the other drag races i did were due to an amount of luck with traffic stopping opponents, the opponents getting bad launches, and blocking opponents too. This is definitely a luck based challenge and i lost some of my sanity from doing it. Lol
Love replaying this game one of the best ever made still play it on my ps2 almost everyday. Finished the career mode with every car on the game. Also got over 1 million points in a drift race with every car except for the bonus cars.
As someone who's done this themselves, the drag races were MISERABLE to deal with. It didn't matter how well I shifted unless I got it absolutely perfect every. Single. Time.
For some drag races, you can lower the Neon's upgrades so you can have the chance of catching up to your opponent. Tho, I don't think it works for every car like the Skyline which starts out at higher stats at low upgrades.
I liked the Neon in Underground, but there was a tournament drag race that every time, the engine would blow and I would have to trade for a car with a 6 speed.
I still have a hard time though winning on races even on Easy Mode even if I use a fully upgraded Volkswagen Golf GTI that I used for Underground Mode.
No joke, I got my real life driver's license in a mildly modified 1995 Plymouth Neon that came with a spoiler and moon-roof. It was a very fun car to drive. Only real problem i had with it were the stock headlights were super weak; I literally drove around with hi-beams on all the time at night and never got blinked down in return.
I made a mod that replaces the neon with the vauxhall corsa from nfsug2 with all the modifications, then did a "Corsa challenge" using only that from start to finish (handling is the same as the neon)

The Neon was my go-to car for Underground 1 more often than not, ever since i was a child. I was just drawn to it a bit more than the rest for reasons i still don't really know till this day. Later on during my teens, my dad had a Chrysler Neon, Not a Dodge like in the game but a Neon regardless. The Dodge Neon is just hard to find in Europe, It's 90% Chrysler. But yet again, I found myself liking it a lot. In today's day and age, i mainly like light, simple, tossable, and not too aggressive looking cars. Since i really don't have anything to proof so cars don't have to show that, and i don't really care for being the fastest. I just want to enjoy them and go places. All in all, The Neon still fits that group. So even today, I still like the good old Neon a lot. it's a bit of a shame i've never encountered the Neon in other games outside of Underground 1, and Driver San Francisco. But Driver had the slightly later model while i prefer the first model a bit more. TLDR, The Neon ended up to be a rather interesting car to me personally. I've grown to like them a lot. thanks to Underground 1, and experiencing one in real live later on, which cemented it.
So that's why I had a very hard time beating Need For Speed Underground with a Volkswagen Golf GTI even if I chose easy mode for all of the races. I never traded my car for another car because I was afraid that I will lose my performance parts and unique parts if I can trade in my car.
I remember completing NFS with an MX5 for all the circuit races and it might have been a Supra for the drag races as the MX5 was even slower than the Neon in a straight line.

It's funny how the initial car selection from this era of NFS is so basic. Racing a regular Lancer or a Neon in real life must be massively boring. Same thing with the Punto in MW, how do you even compare that car to a GTI or a Cobalt SS? How did it keep up with a IS300? NFS magic.
@@YellowbirdYT I think that NFS followed the exact same trends as FnF back then, even in the car selection. Think about it, the first FNF had Supras and Chargers as the final hero cars, while the rest were all riced Civics and Eclipses. Keep up the great work!
I did this challenge for 206 too many times 🙃
Sure it can cuz in these NFS games they don’t have that tier car bullshit like Carbon had so you don’t have to buy a “better” car just upgrade it fully with the extreme upgrades and your good to go, the Dodge Neon is a pretty good car in this game it’s well balanced
I've had my foot ran over by one, it hurt but I was fine 😆
You can actually see said Neon in the background of one of my videos 😆
Now mc3 with the srt4
Lol drug race
When your dealer drives a Neon.
Cuidado con los subtitulos automaticos, Tradujo Drags como Drugs
YT siempre proyectando su adicción. Gracias!
Yellow provided
We always please the market in this channel.
The biggest travesty of this challenge is the Neon isn't painted Yellow despite your name, Yellowbird
Although, yes, i actually prefer drifting in the two Undergrounds in FWDs because you can just slams handbrake to drift and it's a lot more chill to do than in the swinging mess of RWDs
Maybe that is why the yellow Golf GTIs were so obsessed with me.
@@YellowbirdYT yep, he's God being sent just to punish you
FWD are popular in drift events nowadays right ?
@@AnthroGearhead i didn't know it is IRL, but i'm glad it did if it's true
@@RosyMiranto yeah i was suprised myself when Japan started messing with them 8 yrs ago, mainly due to the fact that RWD cars are getting boring and many of them already wrecked thnx to these idiots
Quality
I aim to provide!
who is this Greenbird?
Due to budget cuts, we had to work with a replacement actor.
@@YellowbirdYT Well you better watch out as they were pretty good and might take your place!
@@YellowbirdYT😅
nice
Drag races and drift races were the best part of NFSU.
Circuit races were the real challenge.
Drag races were the BEST in underground 1 & 2 and PROSTREET
Circuit races are pretty easy for the most part, to be honest.
Wana say on underground, you can beat the game with any car. They are basically all the same, especially with you having unique performance parts
