To let you know how old the B52 is, there was a movie called "Bombers B-52" that starred Natalie Wood and Karl Malden that was released in 1957! But there is another one called the "Strategic Air Command" starring Jimmy Stewart that was released in 1955! She is an old, but noble bird 🥊🥊🥊🥊

That bomber is what I would call Uncle Sam's universal delete button that refuses to be retired.
It's hard to beat being able to carry 70k lb in munitions of nearly any kind to any target around the world and return without landing while also being one of the cheapest planes to maintain in the fleet.

A salute to the wrench benders, the aircraft maintenance technicians that keep them in the air and operational ready--
As you mentioned in the video, the advent of smart weapons, self guiding/targeting ordinance specifically, is reducing the role the Buff will be playing in warfare.
What to do with the large quantities of ballistic ordinance?
Some of the aircraft technicians started thinking and tinkering, came up with a solution. They created bolt on modules to attach to the gravity powered bombs that gave them guidance and maneuvering capability.
So here's to the guys that get their hands dirty and come up with repurposing what some would consider obsolete junk and a disposal problem. Creativity is the most important aspect of any military endeavor and higher ups that are willing to support the troops in the trenches.

Imagine seeing and hearing 129 B-52s, separated into 4 rows of 32 all flying at the same time. Operation Linebacker (later part of Operation Arc Light) in Vietnam. I’m not sure how many were used years earlier in the first parts of the overall operation.

Much of the footage was from Vietnam. Of course the B52 has been upgraded multiple times over the years. Avionics and targeting are very modern with glass screens etc. The B52 can carry smart bombs and missiles too. But a huge improvement will be when the new engines are fitted. This will increase the range by a 20%.

Thing is about the B-52, this kind of work is pretty outmoded. Unguided bombs for lightly defended targets and safe airspace. B-52s can patrol a large area for a long time, dropping bombs like these all throughout the day.
These kinds of big strategic bombers get really spicy when they start throwing around big long range cruise missiles. Weapons like the old ALCM cruise missiles, the newer JASSM cruise missiles, and the upcoming LRSO cruise missiles. The B-52, old as she is, can deliver as many as 20 stealth cruise missiles, with nuclear or conventional payloads, from more than 2000km away.
A squadron of B-52s can threaten the most sophisticated air defenses from well out of harm's way. Nation smashers.

I don't see the B-52s currently in service going anywhere anytime soon. They are relatively cheap to operate and have been receiving upgrades through the years including the ability to receive data on operations and targets from other aircraft including the F-35, Their bomb bays have been upgraded to hold more, they are able to carry modern precision guided bombs and cruise missiles, and I remember reading that they were looking at ways in the future to arm them with a directed energy defense system.

I wonder if you've seen these videos by the US Air Force Band, Max Impact.
The first is "Send Me" ruclips.net/video/2yKpjKgf4rA/видео.html
The lyrics contain the phrase "That Others May Live" which is the Air Force Pararescue slogan. But they also to pay homage to the other combat arms career fields in the Air Force such as the Forward Air Controllers and the Security Forces, in which I am proud to have served.
The second is "Find You" ruclips.net/video/Pn-341l8l5Q/видео.html
It is about Air Force Training Instructors. I love this part of the lyrics: "The destination is you."
The third is "Locked and Loaded" ruclips.net/video/jvVqIFU1sjk/видео.html
A salute to all Air Force career fields, but with a bent towards the Enlisted, those in the combat arms career fields but especially the maintainers.
I hope you enjoy these videos as much as I enjoy your RUclips Channel.
