Thank you for demonstrating this knife sharpening device. I like it better than many I’ve seen and used. I especially like that the angle can be changed so easily to match the blade.
Hey Bryan, great video! My name is Patrick, I'm the guy that demo'd the KME to you at Blade Show! Remember, the guy with a face for radio 😂 glad to see you're enjoying the KME. If you have any questions about it, don't hesitate to reach out! Again, great job on the video!
I’ve got a wicked edge sharpening machine or system. But that is a really good system. As to the original one. Still my go to man for gear reviews. SEMPER FI
No oil required when sharpening with the diamond stones that are included in the kit. However, you can use oil if you'd like. You can also use water or water with a drop or so of dish soap, it's user preference. I personally run my stones dry when sharpening.
I absolute loved my KME. I had the original one. Lasted me many years until it was stolen out of my storage shed. The only issue I had with it is that i could not do a scandi grind on it.
@@houseoffire72on the original system, you can flip the ball and race upside down to get lower angle adjustments. However, on the new Precision Control Plus system, I've personally seen moras sharpened on it.
Thank you for the advice and video. I have been using for about a year now, a similar system called Ruixin. I believe that it is hands down, the best way to sharpen a knife. If what you need is a flat or straight edge profile, then these things are amazing! If what you need or looking for is a convex edge, then you’re bet off using the Work Sharp Ken Onion system. For a flat edge, the fixed angle style sharpening systems similar to this one you’re using, with the diamond stones, are king! I have put some killer edges on my knives since I started using the Ruixin system. This one you’re presenting is apparently pretty decent also. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Bryan for the review and music. Looks like a great piece of kit, but for $475 think I will stick to my cheap wetstones, steels, and leather strops. Much appreciate the Chuck Norris wisdom.
Was that site wide, or sight wide? 🤣 Very nice sharpener and you will love it, I have one of the cheaper versions and it even works great! Thanks for showing!
I am 65 and I just can't seem to figure out how to effectively sharpen anything. I think it's a hangup. I have sharpening tools of all types but I cannot find a way to sharpening. I will consider this device because I trust you. Darn, I can't come close to affording this nowadays.
Thanks for sharing I have the work sharp version of this and I absolutely love it and it was 150 for the press/ clamp with one tri rod and the expansion kit and case with another 4 rods in it both were 150 ish
Bryan.. thanks for the video… is this KPM dummy proof? Hate to ask it like that but if you careful or not skilled you can ruin a blade when sharpening it? I want to learn though.
It worked for me so I would say so ;-) Seriously, they say to try it a few times on cheap knives to get the hand of it but it is pretty hard to screw up if you just follow what i did.
Well, obviously, the more obtuse the angle (i just really wanted to use that word) the less likely to roll or chip. But anything under like 20-22 degrees is probably to "fragile" for tough work. If you already have a decent edge, just use a sharpie to set the angle to your existing edge and clean things up. And, as far as I know, most Moras are Scandi grind so just match the big flat angle and go to town.
$474.95 I thought you said the wrong price. Please don't take this the wrong way but you can purchase a Tormek T1 for a little chapter and it uses electricity.

I’ve owned this system for several years. It is excellent and the stones last a long time.

@@SurvivalOnPurposeyes sir, not a problem at all! I enjoy helping others to get the sharpening results they're after.
Good video Brian, thanks for sharing, YAH bless !
Very welcome
Thanks for Sharing. I have used that tool before and like it very much !!
Always liked this unit the best.
It works pretty good

The sharpening stones don't require any oil?

Why not? was there not enough adjustment?
@SurvivalOnPurpose The clamp that clamps the blade always got in the way. I could never do my Mora's as well as a few others.

Great video brother and great information

They have lower priced options that all use the fixed angle setup. You just have to be patient.

Cool. Thanks for watching.

at what angle to sharpen bushcraft knives, for example mora? 23-27 degrees?

Chuck Norris doesn't wear a watch. He determines what time it is!
Chuck Norris once pee'ed in the gas tank of a semi truck... They now call that semi truck, Optimus Prime🤣
They are sold out on the sight?
maybe so.

Isn’t it great to have so many good choices. ?
@@SurvivalOnPurpose You get no argument from me happy Thanksgiving
What no balance test...? Lol, happy holidays!
Same to you!
Nice music.
Thanks. I appreciate it.
$475?
Yes, for this model. Like I said, they have others at much lower prices. This is the top of the line.
They can keep it for $400 bucks
These type of systems are awesome but this is way too expensive.
They have less expensive versions. Like I said, this is the flagship model.
Sorry, Bryan, but $475. For a sharpening system is cost prohibited for me. I'll use my wet stones.
No need to be sorry. It’s pricey. They do have much lower cost setups
I thought you said it was simple.
I said it turned out to be a lot simpler than I thought. And it really is.
@SurvivalOnPurpose oh ok
