This video shows the starter relay location on a VW Jetta, shown with the 2.0 non turbo version. This is the Volkswagen A6 platform. This for the model years of 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 (11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18)

Hi i have a 2013 vw passat tdi,i had U0100 code no communication with ecm/pcm, sometimes car shutdown while im driving and ESC error came on and it won't start no crank at all,the glow plug light its not came on too.
Do you have any idea it can be a relay or its the ECM itself.

I tried to remove the starter relay and broke the relay housing. It’s in a real tight spot

Did not work for me. I have tried to bypass relay contacts to activate starter, and it did not even click. Jetta 2.5l 2012 comfortline.

Bad solenoid probably. Take the starter out and have it tested at an auto parts store.

Where is the starter located?

You can find the Starter by Looking at Your Battery. There will be a Wire connected from your Battery to the Starter. Should be on the Front of the Engine. It looks like two Metal Cylinders side by side. It will be a dull grey metal color.
