Unfortunately, there's no wear-detection on the Hybrid HR. You can't turn those features off automatically when you take the watch off, but you can set DND mode to Always On and turn the Heart Rate Sensor off manually in the Hybrid HR settings. Or you could turn Bluetooth off on your phone so it doesn't send notifications to the watch.

Great question! If you set the Hybrid HR's Do Not Disturb mode to Always Off and keep your phone on silent/vibrate, then you'll always get notifications on the Hybrid HR. The only time notifications don't display is when the Hybrid HR's DND mode is set to Mirror Phone. When it's set to that, the Hybrid HR won't show any notifications if your phone is on silent/vibrate.

It is really weird and annoying. Most other smart watches have no problem with DND Mode, so I don't know why Fossil struggles with it. I really hope it will be fixed in a software update, but I don't know if they'll ever do it.
I have Lattitude HR and Huawei P30 Pro dual sim, often i get notification " name called 10 seconds" after the call has ended but no vibration during the ring. other case is when ringing has ended but watch vibrates and shows text more 6-seconds. i have activated all battery settings for Fossil app stay wake, work on back round and wake with watch. no help :( i have latest 4.9.2 version

I did this yesterday and after emailing myself the notes I put my phone on silent so I would receive any more messages. But after a while the messages just dissapeared? Great question! That's strange that they disappeared. As far as I know, notifications on the Hybrid HR stay there until you dismiss them yourself. Once you've opened it on your Hybrid HR, it disappears.

Excellent question! The only way you can do Pomodoro-style timers on the Hybrid HR itself is if you manually set the timer every single time. One workaround could be to download a Pomodoro app on your phone, put your phone on silent, and just look at its notifications on your Hybrid HR to keep track of each session. I tried doing that with the Pomodoro Timer app ( play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pomodrone.app ) and the notifications worked well (even if my phone was on Do Not Disturb mode) to let me know when each session was over. I couldn't interact with the notifications on the Hybrid HR, but there is an option in the Pomodoro Timer app that automatically start breaks and session timers, so I didn't need to use my phone to manually do that each time. Maybe someting like that could work for you? You could also post in the Fossil Hybrids subreddit and see if someone else might be able to help your more than I can: www.reddit.com/r/FossilHybrids

Good question! You can find a list of apps that support notifications in the Fossil app. You can also enable/disable notifications from specific apps from there. I show how to do that at 19:03 in this video.

Hi, you can make every dial empty so the only thing you'll see are the watch hands and the background image. Alternatively, you can keep the dials but just hide them by long-pressing the top button. Good question! It might be silent or background notifications that don't show up on your phone but do appear on the Hybrid HR. So things like a "Checking for messages" notification for an e-mail app or a "This app is running in the background" system notification etc. You'll have to go through the list of app notifications to figure out which one it is.
I accidentally removed all the round circles.....how do you put back on if needed? I like the blank black screen anyway but it would be nice to put back on when walking so I don't have to keep pushing the buttons?
That's so weird. When you're on the Alerts tab in the Fossil app, is there a circled exclamation mark next to "Calls & Messages" ? Maybe it you need to grant it permission to be able to control phone calls and respond to messages. Either that or your watch is set to "Mirror Phone" in the DND settings. If it is, try switching it to "Always Off".
This one's a really helpful playlist and great presentation. I have a couple of questions for you. 1. Does the dial of brown colour variant look good and do the watch hands glow in the dark? (I too didn't like the tan one). 2. Does the e-ink display on brown colour variant have brownish tint?
Great questions! 1) I don't know if the dials on the dark brown one glow in the dark. The dark brown Hybrid HR has a slight brown tint that I didn't really like, so I found it easier to buy the black version and then get brown leather bands instead. That way, I get a light brown watch and glow-in-the-dark hands. 2) The e-ink on the dark brown version apparently has less contrast than the black Hybrid HR and has a very slight brown tint, which is why it looks like that. The pictures on the Fossil website are exaggerated (it's not that brown in real life). I'd recommend you check out other people's pictures of the dark brown one or see it in store yourself if possible so you get a better idea of what it looks like.
Hi, does anyone know if I can still receive notifications on my watch when my phone is on silent please? I've looked through settings and can't figure it out. Thanks!
Good question! If you set Do Not Disturb mode to Always Off on the Hybrid HR, it will vibrate every time your phone gets a notification, even if your phone is on silent/vibrate. My phone is always on silent (I don't even know what my ringtone sounds like lol) and I have no problem getting notifications on my Hybrid HR.
In just 20 minutes (1437 - 1457), the watch lost 4% of the battery. I doubt it even lasts a week. Edit: got the Neutra, battery life is best. Lasts at least 10 days.

Does anybody else also not receive any snapchat notifications on the watch? I have a Samsung galaxy s9+. My sister has an iPhone and it works fine on her watch she was getting all snapchat notifications
@@ZaeemSiddiqui Yes it's enabled. At first I thought it was my watch's problem. I paired my watch with my sister's phone and the snapchat notifications worked perfectly fine. I realized that I only receive certain snap notification but other times it doesn't go through
Great question! So long as the app sends notifications for score updates, the Hybrid HR will show them. I just tried the FotMob app and I saw the notifications on my watch with no issues.
Hi, is your DND mode set to mirror phone? Sometimes the Hybrid HR won't show notifications if your phone is on silent/vibrate. It's easier to set it to always off.

thankyou. but when my phone is on vibration mode i do not receive call on my watch. it just show as a old notification. my phone vibrates in during call but my watch did not. is there any solution?
Good question! Is DND Mode on the Hybrid HR set to "Always Off" ? For some reason, when it is set to "Mirror Phone" it doesn't vibrate for notifications if your phone is on Vibrate or Silent.
With the 4.6 Update, they introduced an Unread Notifications icon at the bottom of the watchface. You can check it out here: ruclips.net/video/c5-hfVLbdow/видео.html (it's around the 3:07 mark).

Has this watch been updated to allow canned/quick responses to text messages? Seems odd that you can deny a call while sending the quick response...but a quick response to text is not possible?
That's a great question! Unfortunately, you can only send quick responses to phone calls from the Hybrid HR. It's weird that the feature to respond to text messages still isn't available. That's definitely something I used a lot on my Pebble smartwatch.

That was my thinking as well. The Hybrid HR isn't a proper Pebble replacement by any means, but it's the closest thing I could find and I've been quite happy with it (even if I miss my Pebble from time to time lol).

That's a great question! The Amazfit T-Rex offers a lot of features for a good price, but it's not a hybrid smartwatch so it's not a direct comparison with the Hybrid HR. Personally, I think the Amazfit T-Rex looks too big/rugged and I prefer the minimalist style of the Hybrid HR. It really depends on what you want in a smartwatch!
There are two things that might have caused this. 1) There was a problem with the Fossil Hybrid app (I think) because my one reset completely and I had to add all my watch faces again. Go to the Alerts tab in your Fossil Hybrid app and make sure your app notifications are enabled. Because of the reset, the app had turned all my notifications off, so I had to turn them back on again manually. 2) Your watch's Do Not Disturb mode might be set to "Mirror Phone". If it is and your phone is on Silent or Vibrate, the watch will not give you notifications. Long press the middle button on your watch to open the menu, and then go to the bell icon (I think it's the second one in the list). Click the middle button again to switch it to ALWAYS OFF. I hope one of those options works for you because I can't think of anything else that might cause this problem. Let me know if it works!
Awesome review! This seems to be the only watch of any type in the market that natively notifies of incoming app calls (eg, WhatsApp calls, Skype calls, FB Messenger calls). This is huge! Most of my calls are app calls rather than regular phone calls and the closest I’ve come to getting those notifications is by using a paid 3rd party Wear OS app, for WhatsApp calls only, on my smartwatch. Can you please confirm that you get real time incoming WhatsApp, Skype, and FB Messenger, call vibration notifications please?
Thank you! I didn't know Wear OS didn't natively support app call notifications. That's weird. I can confirm that the Hybrid HR vibrates and shows notifications for incoming WhatsApp calls (12:31 in this video) and Skype calls (13:17 in this video). Originally, the Hybrid HR had its own Do Not Disturb (DND) mode that worked independently from the phone. So you could put the Hybrid HR on DND mode and then the Hybrid HR would never vibrate even if you're getting notifications on your phone. You had to manually change the phone and the Hybrid HR DND modes if you wanted them to be the same. But after a recent update, you can now mirror DND mode on your phone. That means that if you set your phone to DND mode, the Hybrid HR will automatically go on DND mode as well. And when you turn the phone off DND mode, the Hybrid HR will also stop DND mode. It makes life easier if you've got a DND schedule already on your phone because you don't have to manually adjust each one now.
Hey! Firtly, really thanks for your videos, really helpful. However I still have a problem/question. Recently I have noticed, some already cleared notification just show up after a while. Usually the same missed call or one message from messenger. Do you have any solution or information ablut this kind of issue?
Good question! I haven't run into that issue myself, so I'm not sure what might be causing it. Have you tried restarting the phone? Great in depth info on Alerts, I was looking for specific info on Outlook and how it will work with the Skagen HR. From your review, I assume that if I enable Outlook Alerts, I will be alerted for both Calendar Events and Emails.
Great review! Really love how you explained all the features. The question i've got is: the gold one showes the screen with more black and the rosé one have more white. Can you change that? Like can i have a rosé watch with black screen with white notofications like you have? 🙏
Great question! Unfortunately, you can't change that. You're forced to stick with whatever theme your watch comes with. I would love to have a white background with black text throughout the OS because I think that's much easier to read. Hopefully, they'll change it in a future update. For now, the closest you can get to switching the look is customizing your home screen. My Hybrid HR has white text on a black background by default, so I set my home screen background to be white and made the dials black. But everything else in the OS still uses the white text/black background theme.

that's a great video, you went deep into all options of this watch , I have the same with is paired with iPhone , just recently after the deleted alarm, the add alarm tab on app is not working anymore , it shows in the app but when you tap on it , nothing happen , have you seen something like this with yours?

I have purchased and received my collider hr and I have a question regarding the app (version 4.7) On the alerts page - Calls and Messages, I do not have the quick response option. Only Allow calls from and allow messages from, plus favourite contacts. iPhone 6 SE 12.5.4. Not a big problem for me just interested. Thanks again for your informative videos, I bought the watch after watching them.
That's a great question! I'm not sure why it doesn't show the Quick Response option in the app. I think another commenter had a similar issue, but I don't know if they managed to fix it. Hey mate awesome show around of the workings of this watch . Just got it and whenever I get a received message from someone it'll notify with a "new message" but not who it's from nor am I able to read the message any tips?
Great question! I haven't seen that happen before. Are you using an iOS device or an Android? If it's an iOS device, you need to have message previews turned on and you need to make sure you've enabled sharing system notifications with the Hybrid HR.
It depends on the model you get and where you buy it from. The new Gen 6 models are more expensive than the model I've got in this video, which is the older Collider model. You could probably get this one for around $100 CAD secondhand.
Could you please also test to see if Mandarin Chinese shows up properly in notifications? I receive notifications in Chinese pretty often and my miband 3 has trouble displaying anything but English and German. Thanks in advance.

Great question! If you set Do Not Disturb (DND) mode to Always Off on the Hybrid HR, you should get notifications when your phone is on Vibrate/Silent. When DND is set to Mirror Phone, the Hybrid HR doesn't vibrate if your phone is on Silent/Vibrate, which is really annoying.

Question here - I recently bought a Skagen Hybrid HR which, as I’m sure you know, runs on Fossil’s operating system. For some reason all of my app notifications come through to the watch just fine, but text messages never show up. I have it set to allow messages from anyone in the app, but can’t seem to get this figured out :( any advice would be appreciated! Love these videos btw, you inspired me to buy one of these watches! @@ZaeemSiddiqui thanks for your response, means a lot! The messages app isn’t listed in my app notifications page. All I see are third party messaging apps such as WhatsApp, WeChat, etc. I do have an IPhone, which may make a difference I suppose.
It seems there's also a separate setting that should be enabled for you to receive message notifications on an iPhone. If you open your phone's Settings, then scroll down and tap on Notifications, you should see Messages in the list. Tap on that and scroll to Options. Tap on Show Previews and choose either Always or When Unlocked. If Never is selected, your iPhone won't send messages to your Hybrid HR.
That's a great question! You can set the Hybrid HR to be on Do Not Disturb mode in the Settings. It will still get notifications but it won't vibrate or show anything on screen other than the Unread Notifications icon.

Hi, you can make every dial empty so the only thing you'll see are the watch hands and the background image. Alternatively, you can keep the dials but just hide them by long-pressing the top button.

Hi.. my HR watch often receives message is running notifications but there is no notification on my smartphone. How did it happen?
Good question! It might be silent or background notifications that don't show up on your phone but do appear on the Hybrid HR. So things like a "Checking for messages" notification for an e-mail app or a "This app is running in the background" system notification etc. You'll have to go through the list of app notifications to figure out which one it is.
I accidentally removed all the round circles.....how do you put back on if needed? I like the blank black screen anyway but it would be nice to put back on when walking so I don't have to keep pushing the buttons?
Have you tried long-pressing the top button? That shows/hides the dials.

Bro when i receive a call i ain't getting notified in the watch, i get to see it only after ive missed the call in the notifications manually.
That's so weird. When you're on the Alerts tab in the Fossil app, is there a circled exclamation mark next to "Calls & Messages" ? Maybe it you need to grant it permission to be able to control phone calls and respond to messages.
Either that or your watch is set to "Mirror Phone" in the DND settings. If it is, try switching it to "Always Off".

I have a couple of questions for you.
1. Does the dial of brown colour variant look good and do the watch hands glow in the dark? (I too didn't like the tan one).
2. Does the e-ink display on brown colour variant have brownish tint?
Great questions!
1) I don't know if the dials on the dark brown one glow in the dark. The dark brown Hybrid HR has a slight brown tint that I didn't really like, so I found it easier to buy the black version and then get brown leather bands instead. That way, I get a light brown watch and glow-in-the-dark hands.
2) The e-ink on the dark brown version apparently has less contrast than the black Hybrid HR and has a very slight brown tint, which is why it looks like that. The pictures on the Fossil website are exaggerated (it's not that brown in real life). I'd recommend you check out other people's pictures of the dark brown one or see it in store yourself if possible so you get a better idea of what it looks like.

I'm not sure why that is happening but you should contact Fossil support and check with them in case it's a hardware problem with the watch.

Good question! If you set Do Not Disturb mode to Always Off on the Hybrid HR, it will vibrate every time your phone gets a notification, even if your phone is on silent/vibrate. My phone is always on silent (I don't even know what my ringtone sounds like lol) and I have no problem getting notifications on my Hybrid HR.

In just 20 minutes (1437 - 1457), the watch lost 4% of the battery. I doubt it even lasts a week.
Edit: got the Neutra, battery life is best. Lasts at least 10 days.
Battery life is probably closer to 10 days now, but it really depends on how much the watch is being used on a daily basis.

Does anybody else also not receive any snapchat notifications on the watch? I have a Samsung galaxy s9+. My sister has an iPhone and it works fine on her watch she was getting all snapchat notifications
I've not used Snapchat but I don't see why it wouldn't show notifications. Is it enabled in the app notifications list in the Fossil app?
@@ZaeemSiddiqui Yes it's enabled. At first I thought it was my watch's problem. I paired my watch with my sister's phone and the snapchat notifications worked perfectly fine. I realized that I only receive certain snap notification but other times it doesn't go through

Great question! So long as the app sends notifications for score updates, the Hybrid HR will show them. I just tried the FotMob app and I saw the notifications on my watch with no issues.

Hi, is your DND mode set to mirror phone? Sometimes the Hybrid HR won't show notifications if your phone is on silent/vibrate. It's easier to set it to always off.
How did you get the design to appear on the normal display of the watch?

thankyou. but when my phone is on vibration mode i do not receive call on my watch. it just show as a old notification. my phone vibrates in during call but my watch did not. is there any solution?
Good question! Is DND Mode on the Hybrid HR set to "Always Off" ? For some reason, when it is set to "Mirror Phone" it doesn't vibrate for notifications if your phone is on Vibrate or Silent.

Has this watch been updated to allow canned/quick responses to text messages? Seems odd that you can deny a call while sending the quick response...but a quick response to text is not possible?
That's a great question! Unfortunately, you can only send quick responses to phone calls from the Hybrid HR. It's weird that the feature to respond to text messages still isn't available. That's definitely something I used a lot on my Pebble smartwatch.

That was my thinking as well. The Hybrid HR isn't a proper Pebble replacement by any means, but it's the closest thing I could find and I've been quite happy with it (even if I miss my Pebble from time to time lol).

That's a great question! The Amazfit T-Rex offers a lot of features for a good price, but it's not a hybrid smartwatch so it's not a direct comparison with the Hybrid HR. Personally, I think the Amazfit T-Rex looks too big/rugged and I prefer the minimalist style of the Hybrid HR. It really depends on what you want in a smartwatch!

Hi my watch has stopped giving call notifications and vibrations on mesages

There are two things that might have caused this.
1) There was a problem with the Fossil Hybrid app (I think) because my one reset completely and I had to add all my watch faces again. Go to the Alerts tab in your Fossil Hybrid app and make sure your app notifications are enabled. Because of the reset, the app had turned all my notifications off, so I had to turn them back on again manually.
2) Your watch's Do Not Disturb mode might be set to "Mirror Phone". If it is and your phone is on Silent or Vibrate, the watch will not give you notifications. Long press the middle button on your watch to open the menu, and then go to the bell icon (I think it's the second one in the list). Click the middle button again to switch it to ALWAYS OFF.
I hope one of those options works for you because I can't think of anything else that might cause this problem. Let me know if it works!
Awesome review! This seems to be the only watch of any type in the market that natively notifies of incoming app calls (eg, WhatsApp calls, Skype calls, FB Messenger calls). This is huge! Most of my calls are app calls rather than regular phone calls and the closest I’ve come to getting those notifications is by using a paid 3rd party Wear OS app, for WhatsApp calls only, on my smartwatch. Can you please confirm that you get real time incoming WhatsApp, Skype, and FB Messenger, call vibration notifications please?
Thank you! I didn't know Wear OS didn't natively support app call notifications. That's weird. I can confirm that the Hybrid HR vibrates and shows notifications for incoming WhatsApp calls (12:31 in this video) and Skype calls (13:17 in this video).

'DND-mirror phone' is for what purpose?
Originally, the Hybrid HR had its own Do Not Disturb (DND) mode that worked independently from the phone. So you could put the Hybrid HR on DND mode and then the Hybrid HR would never vibrate even if you're getting notifications on your phone. You had to manually change the phone and the Hybrid HR DND modes if you wanted them to be the same.
But after a recent update, you can now mirror DND mode on your phone. That means that if you set your phone to DND mode, the Hybrid HR will automatically go on DND mode as well. And when you turn the phone off DND mode, the Hybrid HR will also stop DND mode. It makes life easier if you've got a DND schedule already on your phone because you don't have to manually adjust each one now.
Hey! Firtly, really thanks for your videos, really helpful. However I still have a problem/question. Recently I have noticed, some already cleared notification just show up after a while. Usually the same missed call or one message from messenger. Do you have any solution or information ablut this kind of issue?
Good question! I haven't run into that issue myself, so I'm not sure what might be causing it. Have you tried restarting the phone?

Great in depth info on Alerts, I was looking for specific info on Outlook and how it will work with the Skagen HR. From your review, I assume that if I enable Outlook Alerts, I will be alerted for both Calendar Events and Emails.
Yes. I get alerted for upcoming Calendar events (I've set Outlook to remind me 15 minutes before events) and I get alerted for Outlook emails as well.
Great review! Really love how you explained all the features. The question i've got is: the gold one showes the screen with more black and the rosé one have more white. Can you change that? Like can i have a rosé watch with black screen with white notofications like you have? 🙏
Great question! Unfortunately, you can't change that. You're forced to stick with whatever theme your watch comes with. I would love to have a white background with black text throughout the OS because I think that's much easier to read.
Hopefully, they'll change it in a future update.
For now, the closest you can get to switching the look is customizing your home screen. My Hybrid HR has white text on a black background by default, so I set my home screen background to be white and made the dials black. But everything else in the OS still uses the white text/black background theme.
Does it have vibrating alarm?
It does, but it may not be strong enough to wake you in the mornings. It also depends on whether you set it through the app or have an alarm on your phone.

that's a great video, you went deep into all options of this watch , I have the same with is paired with iPhone , just recently after the deleted alarm, the add alarm tab on app is not working anymore , it shows in the app but when you tap on it , nothing happen , have you seen something like this with yours?

I have purchased and received my collider hr and I have a question regarding the app (version 4.7) On the alerts page - Calls and Messages, I do not have the quick response option. Only Allow calls from and allow messages from, plus favourite contacts.
iPhone 6 SE 12.5.4. Not a big problem for me just interested.

Great question! I haven't seen that happen before. Are you using an iOS device or an Android? If it's an iOS device, you need to have message previews turned on and you need to make sure you've enabled sharing system notifications with the Hybrid HR.

It depends on the model you get and where you buy it from. The new Gen 6 models are more expensive than the model I've got in this video, which is the older Collider model. You could probably get this one for around $100 CAD secondhand.
Could you please also test to see if Mandarin Chinese shows up properly in notifications? I receive notifications in Chinese pretty often and my miband 3 has trouble displaying anything but English and German. Thanks in advance.

Great question! If you set Do Not Disturb (DND) mode to Always Off on the Hybrid HR, you should get notifications when your phone is on Vibrate/Silent. When DND is set to Mirror Phone, the Hybrid HR doesn't vibrate if your phone is on Silent/Vibrate, which is really annoying.

Question here - I recently bought a Skagen Hybrid HR which, as I’m sure you know, runs on Fossil’s operating system. For some reason all of my app notifications come through to the watch just fine, but text messages never show up. I have it set to allow messages from anyone in the app, but can’t seem to get this figured out :( any advice would be appreciated!

@@ZaeemSiddiqui thanks for your response, means a lot! The messages app isn’t listed in my app notifications page. All I see are third party messaging apps such as WhatsApp, WeChat, etc. I do have an IPhone, which may make a difference I suppose.
It seems there's also a separate setting that should be enabled for you to receive message notifications on an iPhone. If you open your phone's Settings, then scroll down and tap on Notifications, you should see Messages in the list. Tap on that and scroll to Options. Tap on Show Previews and choose either Always or When Unlocked. If Never is selected, your iPhone won't send messages to your Hybrid HR.

That's a great question! You can set the Hybrid HR to be on Do Not Disturb mode in the Settings. It will still get notifications but it won't vibrate or show anything on screen other than the Unread Notifications icon.
