As a professional who works in the arts I work in a literal large museum institution in LA you always want to take all the framing of the artwork to see if there’s anything else on the bag or anything else be hidden by the frame the more you know the more you can determine the price of that artwork. Good job on identifying an original watercolor it’s also easier to identify if things are prints by removing the frame you can reframe these things yourselves there are plenty of videos online or you can sell the artwork without the frame
I make a lot of money and selling art. Most often when I offer to consign at art auction houses they want provenance. Without that the price can reflect what is missing (labels, artist signatures, gallery stamps etc). I always have on hand a magnifying glass, a phone full of directories. Last year I made over $40K on selling art and that's when all the bells are rung. I spend about $2K a year. You'd be surprised what people donate to good will stores or swap meets.
Thank you for your videos and this is very informative and useful. Just a tip - Brazilians are latinos because the country is located in Latin America, however, Brazilians aren't considered Hispanic because the country's primary language is Portuguese and not Spanish. Although Carnival is shared by Latinos and Hispanics so you are right about that 👍
Always carry a quality loupe with you...a 10x will serve well...then learn to tell the difference between original works of watercolor, oil, pastel, acrylics etc., and the different print processes...lithographs, monoprints, etching prints, giclees, linocuts, silk screens-serigraphs etc. Also, go ahead and spend on quality art, even if you're not thinking of flipping it. The reason is this: building your estate! It's a good idea to build your estate which you can enjoy for life and that your heirs will later inherit which, might be worth exponentially more than your principle investment.
Thanks for this Info! Really trying to learn more. I found a painting paid $3 , learned it’s worth about $7k! Now my first stop is the framed art my goodwills!! Man, Would love to see an updated video with new knowledge! Appreciate you sharing!
I'd be interested in hearing your thought process on how you would price them. I've never had an issues with assessing the quality of a piece I just tend to really under price them most of the time.
Hello, good video! Do you know any information on artist: Carl Smith-sketch of old St. Luke Church, D.Gribble- watercolors paints, Amil Buntes-sketch of the Old Bishop Palace, Liz Rogers-Sparking Pepsi watercolor drawing?
Great video! I've picked up two pieces of art. A Big Eyes themed print signed Maio that I currently have listed on eBay for $150. I paid $2. It has 3 watchers and a decent amount of views. I also found a really cool Frida Kahlo print that is framed. I think there's a lot of money to be made in prints alone that you can find framed at the thrift store. I'm taking a lot of it to my antique booth to see how it moves. Would love to see you do a "what sold" video for art.
Thanks for the comment. I don't sell enough art in a timely manner to create a video regularly. Art sells slow, thats something I should of mentioned in the video. Thanks.
Watercolor is not easy. When I saw that painting, before you opened your mouth, I knew it was good art. The Jesus statue in Rio De Janeiro is called "Christ The Reedemer" or Cristo Redentor ( Kreestoh heydenTOR ) My father taught art in college, I grew up around art, so I think I'm going to make this my hobby, buying and selling artwork. I know a good painting when I see it.
Great video.. Ty.. Brazilians are not spanish tho.. They are almost as big as the U.S. and speak portuguese .. Very different culture than the surrounding spanish countries.
Found a large painting at goodwill but damaged and frame bad shape. Asking price $16.00 exact same in better condition sold for $400 on ebay. Was I right to leave it behind?
eBay has terrible customer support. What if I sell a beautiful painting and have close up pictures and it gets returned because of some thing they find on the frame etc.
take a picture of watercolors. then make it larger to check for pixels. If you see them, its a print

Good tips, I think a $3 million dollar copy of the Declaration of Independence was found behind another piece of art.

Good question, I'll mark that down. Thank you.

Do you mostly ship in the frame or take out of the frame and what is your thought process in deciding?
I usually ship everything in frame, unless the frame is worthless. Then I will remove it from the frame BEFORE I list.
Dropping another gem on us!!!
Interesting information, the art doesn’t appeal to me. Problem is where to sell the art. I have some great original pieces.
Fair enough! I still think ebay is a safe place to sell art. Anything very valuable id seek out art houses like Christies etc.
eBay has terrible customer support. What if I sell a beautiful painting and have close up pictures and it gets returned because of some thing they find on the frame etc.
Buyers remorse?
So value price to resell? ........
Great question, I'll look at similar styles and size's to get a price.
Ive found some art but I was hoping to sell it outside of Ebay? do you know any other good sites to sell on?
Etsy for sure.
We like this
Great! Thanks for watching!
Hispanic motif??? FYI, Brazilians are not Hispanic. 🤦♂️
True, thanks for the update.
Latin
MrMfloor No, not Latin. Latino. (Latin is a dead language).
You fail to tell the value of the piece of art.
Sure.
