@@BradleyPhillipsYT that’s true, but like you highlighted in your video, if you enjoy modding for the sake of modding it can be fun to replace/ upgrade parts
I actually use a modded longshot as my primary when I play with my friends and brothers. It hits around 210 fps, which is right about average for my Nerf group. My younger brother and my dad both use a lynx, which they've tuned to hit around 220ish, so mine is just about on par with their blasters. I went with a longshot because the blaster plus the parts I used to mod it totaled at $70, while just the hardware kit for a lynx is $70, but then you have to buy the plastic for the 3d printer, making it moderately more expensive. I don't mind the flimsy shell of the longshot, and I actually like the fact that it is significantly lighter than a lynx. I suppose the flaws of the blaster only become a serious issue once you get above 250 fps because mine works fine for what I use it for.
@@Konstifr Far enough for my games. I couldn't tell you the specifics, but it probably wouldn't be up to standard for more competitive players since I just use a printed scar barrel and subpar darts. I'm not super competitive though, so it's good enough for me.

I love the xsls. It doesn't need the metal pusher unless you want to never worry about it breaking. I got one to consistently hit 250 fps with a 14kg spring and a pvc spacer. I destroyed the pusher when the part that pushes the dart into the barrel got mangled in the barrel when I dryfired it. Without the metal pusher, the cost to hit 250 is less than $100. To me, that makes it the best springer for the price.
@peterlee6304 and, no it won't. The nexus pro x is already $50+taxes. That's $55 right there. To get the high powered spring you have to buy the set with the low powered spring. That's another $10+taxes. That's almost $70. The XSLS, upgraded with a metal tube, barrel, spring upgrade, and a $10 scar barrel, is around $80. A $10 difference isn't enough to justify saying the nexus pro x is better when it's internals will eventually break because they are mostly plastic.

If you buy the blaster for 35$ a new plungertube for 10$ new barrel for 16$ a worker rifled muzzle 10$ a upgrade spring for 7$ and modify the frontend for longer barrel insted of buing the 3d print you get a 300fps blaster for you get a blaster for under 80$. The worker offerings are more stable platforms but for people on a tight buget it is a good option in my opinion.
I guess it depends on your budget. For a 300fps blaster I would consider the Worker Harrier quite affordable and the ideal entry level blaster. Choosing this instead you are definitely getting a worse blaster in multiple ways and may end up even going through multiple of them as parts break since it isn't designed for 300fps. For a sub-200fps blaster, yes this is a very good choice.
The pusher bar has no effect on the prime since it's only purpose is to move the pusher and would have been way better to replace the whole plastic block that actually touches the spring.
I bought one just to get the feel of a bullpup blaster. It is pretty good for it's price. My only issue is the mag adaptor pokes into my wrist, making it uncomfortable after a short time.
Regarding the optic - if you use a smaller one and mount it over the support rather than between, it won't flex nearly as much. I have a micro about 2" forward of where yours currently is and it holds a reasonable zero by foam standards.
I'll be going over some of the parts used to get the 300fps mark very soon, moneys been an issue for me recently so ive had to be very picky on what i buy,
You could initially get away with just the spring, plunger tube and barrel. Over time from others I have heard the turnaround "pusher" breaks from the force of upgraded spring but you can worry about that when it happens.
@BradleyPhillipsYT thanks Brad, hope your doing well mate. Just curious what barrel would you recommend for adding fps and compatibility with bcars? I've seen people use almost everything from brass to anodized steel
i currently have one in pieces ongoing a paintjob and mods, and yeah I did buy 7 tubes of epoxy putty to reinforce about everywhere XD got to say tho with the reinforcement its quite sturdy.. after 7 tubes of putty lol
Nope, the LongXshot wont lock any more after removing the ratcheting piece. This will allow it to double-load, but I'd personally heavily recommend against double-loading it. the FPS is destroyed and tend to jam the barrel which is an absolute pain to fix.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT From my own testing, the full length dart actually travel faster and further in the air,it has better range and has the same accuracy as the short dart, full length darts allows me to zero at the lower postion of the target, which makes long range sniping a lot easier.
Despite the price point, I don't think I'd ever personally run one. It's a good recommendation for people getting into modding on a budget, but I've still found myself holding my own against this at 230+fps with my 150fps Longstrike that has a much sturdier shell and a good mass to it. and the people who have them seem to have a number of issues. Though my bias to an awful blaster aside, I hate slamfire so that's an immediate no. That flex... is just too much no for my taste. It certainly brings a question of durability too. I'd imagine this being more of a stopgap for people until they can get a Harrier, Lynx or Caliburn variant.
@@BradleyPhillipsYTI’ve heard stories of their plunger breaking although it’s replaceable and other parts such as the Ram rod breaking (ik you can replace it with the saber one but for those prices and that effort I think you may be better off buying a different blaster).
@@BradleyPhillipsYT lots of jamming and some weren't able to get or keep that high FPS. Same mods, same person doing the upgrades, and a few weren't hitting what they should've been. And wildly inconsistent performance too. Didn't really get all the details though so that's the extent of what I know.
to double the price of a blaster with mods isn't unheard of. to triple it is a bit much but as soon as you mention sabre in anything you can watch the dollar signs fly.
That flf kit was good for me, but def underbarreled, im running between 45 and 50cm, depending on want i want. Both kury barrels. But with that 19 coils of pro25 50cm is great in my experience. I use a printed rime ultimate bcar mk2 i got on etsy, great design with the porting. Just ordered foamdemics internals kit, my turnarounds broke on like 3 blasters but 9 ¼ inches of spring stuffed in there necessitates eventual replacement of some stock parts, namely the pt, turnaround, and dart pusher and bar. Its been a fun project for me, i got one at release knowing id be able to make small mods as they drop for the next few months to keep me busy. This thing is gonna end up all metal internals like the nexus, and if you enjoy the modding aspect, its a fun blaster. Were spoiled with worker and dart zone these days.
Interesting to hear that all the different parts break like the turn around, dart pusher and bar. I guess that makes the Sabre part a necessity despite that not being a load bearing part.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT I think the pressure it what blows the turnaround up and bends the pusher.but the sprung Def flexes it. I just put the foamdemic kit in but have to Teflon tape and tune it for a perfect seal. Bottom Ling is 300 is fps on that weak plastic, that spring smashing, it's rough. I considered using two buffer springs just to be safe but idk if that's a good idea
Ive seen them break when a dart jams in the turn around. It applys too much force on the thinnest 90 degree bend just above the pusher itself. That and the pusher rings are super thin and break. thin is a trend in this blaster. I think its deserves a v2, or even a more expensive model that gives a more rigid chassis and pusher and poly plunger tube. The silhouette is very appealing, i like the large breach open on both side and ambi forward magazine release. Also, the barrel that comes with the stock longshot is very high quality for its price point. Better than trion, and any dart zone blaster ive used. Personally, if revised, this blaster has a nice foundation to work with and mods show it can be made better.
@marijunamissle the barrel is very nice, just too loose! A dart can fall right through. I love this blaster and id glady pay 50-60 for a revision thats slightly sturdier. But cant deny. The engineering is great.
8:25 SlamFire and Deprime aren't Mutually Exclusive just pull the magazine so the chamber is empty, stick a finger over the barrel, and 'dry' fire. now you're de-primed and didn't fire a dart. works on anything slam-fire or not.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT Not really. You just need to add enough air resistance so that the plunger head doesn't damage itself on impact. Slow it down not stop it dead. This doesn't require a Perfect finger seal. Blocking off the main gas flow out the front of the scar is enough even if there are a few holes on the sides of a scar attachment (varies with design of course).
Hey Bradley, While modding my XLongshot, I decided to remove all the teeth from the priming bar to get rid of the ratcheting sound. But now, the trigger doesn't work unless I'm holding the priming handle in the forward position. Did you face this same issue with the Sabre bar? How did you fix it?
Ok. Thanks. Might be the O ring on the pusher is not thick enough. I'll try to pad it with Teflon tape and see if that fixes the issue. The aluminum tube does provide a far better air seal compared to the stock tube.
I had the same issue (I originally removed the ratcheting mechanism but left the priming bar alone). If you check the priming bar, there's one tooth that locks it in the forward position. Take your blaster apart and go through a prime motion and see which tooth that is. Just shave all but that one tooth. That gets rid of the clunky ratcheting but still locks the breech closed after priming. Too late for you, I know, but in case other see this I thought I'd mention it.
So with the blaster 120 with out shipping to get 300 fps. Not to bad to be honest. I mean something else would be double if not almost triple that much.
i wish i had as good of an experience with worker darts as everyone else. in my opinion even the newest release with upgraded glue is still horrible for durability i dont have the money to replace worker darts every time i fire one. the heads blow off them in one single shot. dart zone red tipped bamboos and blue tipped bamboos are the best most durable longest lasting dart money can buy
I use about 200 Worker HE darts per video, one video per week. From my observations I have not had any decaps unless I'm point blank firing into something hard, and at that point it's the foam itself that rips in half, not the glue on the tip. I do mostly use 13mm ID barrels though, are you by any chance using something tighter like brass?
@@BradleyPhillipsYT That’s fair. Looks like it performs so well, you could give it it’s own video and compare it to other ones on the market. Seems like that’s a big reason the apex shot as accurately as it did. Not to discredit the Sabre ;)
Bradley Philips! I'm surprised you even spent time with this one! I agree with most regarding bang for your buck but it's not an 'outta the box' blaster flimsy as hell and most have cracked plunger tubes this blaster is defective before even opening....I reckon xshot will get it right with longshot v2 especially if they make it the same quality as there hpg 700 gel blaster which I'm loving at the moment. Thanks for making great content I really do appreciate your expertise!
I was genuinely surprised that Zuru even made this blaster. Despite the cheap plastic, you can see some great engineering in the design. I'd love to see the engineer who designed this given some better materials to work with and not have to have full-length compatibility. Really, for a first attempt at a "pro" blaster from Zuru, they just about nailed everything but the materials. Also, it's a great way for kids without much money to get started.
@quasistellar totally agree. The design of the exterior is only surpassed by the design of the interior, which is unbelievably simple while being creative. I modded one to hit 270, but didn't upgrade the pusher. Then the pusher broke. After installing the metal one and a stronger spring, i can now hit 300 with adventure force pros, but I can't prime it with 1 hand.
Yes basic standard worker one, or a Worker SLA Printed Resin Scar Barrel Tube, not a bcar or anything fancy of course. Does improve accuracy in standard config. Basicly replaced the useless part x shot put in there@@BradleyPhillipsYT
too bad I can't get it in Victoria, I really wanted on because of the cost but the 117 price tag kinda just defeats the purpose. like at this point I could probably get a seagull for a similar price from china
I came back to leave another comment cause I thought of more stuff.! And, Algorithm!! So, I definitely fall into category of modder that would happily take on the challenges this now $35.00 blaster. I had to reinforce the shell of Nerf Longshot Years ago due the components inside of it, and long term caused issues with stress marks in the shell. I had reinforce my 1st-gen Nexus Pro, I thought I might fold it half accidentally one day. 2 pieces of alumininium flat bar, and some judicious epoxy down both sides of blaster took care of that, though I indeed miss the hemlock on both sides of the front the blaster. I'll change somethings the next time I put my own spin on someone else's build. Bottom line is I see the relative ease at which one might attain a 300fps blaster for the same we used to drool over the 1st-gen Nexus Pro for being to surpass the 220/250fps mark. There's no substitute (in netfmodding) for the feeling of taking a 150fps blaster over double its original fps, for less than cost of high dollar kit blasters. Not that those blasters don't and indeed, they're fun to build also. Whether it's the creation of a prototype Expanded Plunger System that was constructed from 3 previous failed attempts to get one that works 💪. Making your own primming rod, or a hybrid bolt-sled. This blaster may 'require-integration'😎 to reach it's full potential. It's pluger-system is unique. As far as I know, there ain't nothing else like it. Seems like something only a Hobbiest/Engineer would've come up with, if they given a BIGENOUGHBUDGET.🤓
They probably will pretty soon. XShot has said they will be coming to Australia, and there's already a weakened 60fps version sold in other parts of the world
@@Mephiston I saw it posted on facebook a few months ago now, soon after the Longshot was released. Someone asked if it was coming to Australia and xshot said it wasn't. Then a week or two later another person asked again and they then said it was. The change of mind was likely after they saw it's success and decided to produce a lower power version.
lol why did you compare the harrier with stock scar vs the longshot with the sabre bcar? I mean... you even shot a number of rounds from the harrier with a bcar, why not make it more fair comparison? I may be a harrier fanboy kuz that's what I have(I also have an upgraded lonshot), but give the harrier a fair shake in these comparison vids!
The point was the Harrier with its stock plastic rifling was still better than the Longshot. Of course if you add any other rifling to the Harrier the difference increases even further.
Hey, did you take out the "stopper" spring from the inside of the plunger tube? Have you replaced it with something? (I know, don't dry fire ;) And OH MY WORD I was driven mad by this shooting at half speed every so often. I've disassembled and re-assembled it entirely over 20 times trying to find a flaw, leak, under-compression of the spring... and there was nothing. I came to think the barrel is kinked... apparently it only happens on red darts... - and this confirms this.
I think, as far as buying the xshot and modding vs just buying a harrier, at $35 dollars you're ready to play, and you can modify over time, so if a kid is using allowance or birthday money they don't have to drop it all right then
@@BradleyPhillipsYTthats what i was thinking. its more of a luxury thing imo idrc how the prime feels if i can get the kit now for 40$ on frontline foam

It's probably safe to skip the sabre metal bar since this blaster puts is mainspring In FRONT of the plunger tube instead of behind, the plastic bar doesn't actually bear any spring loads; and thus doesn't need to be upgraded to metal.
@@BradleyPhillipsYTWhen that spring is on a stock prime bar, it wants to fold. Take the shell off and look at the internals without it, it flexes bad. What they really need is a metal plunger and turnaround, but prime bar i understand why they mad it, 9¼ inches on that zuru plastic is strenuous
@@rabidpichu7391starting to see comments of the stock bar or turnaround breaking from using such heavy springs. Perhaps the Sabre bar is needed even if it's not actually priming the spring.
Why do you keep calling the Dart pusher a priming bar? Theres actually no force pushing on that part during priming from the spring. After a shot is the only time the spring is putting any kind of force on it and its actually holding it forward into the dart gate. keep that pusher O ring lubed and theres no issues. That saber pusher is super unnecessary in my opinion as well as the metal catch. Metal on plastic is a bad idea. I was able to achieve an 303 FPS average over 1000 recorded shots on the stock PT, 45 cm barrel and sealed printed scar. After going to the silver fox Plunger, I havent been able to achieve the same average, more like a 290 FPS average now.
It is called a prime bar on Sabre's website despite it not being one. I assumed that was what it was. As for the merits of using it, multiple comments have said the stock turnaround, bar and pusher break eventually with upgraded internals. While they aren't load bearing during priming, they still seem to break from the force of firing. Definitely a part you could postpone getting until that happens though.
Curious what spring are you using? I'm at 240-250fps right now and really want to get to 300fps, not sure if it's worth cutting a longer section of K25. Also where did get the 'sealed printed scar'? Cheers!
haha... did you buy it from Argos too? I went there for one, saw the price and said... I will have 3! trouble is I've just dropped about £90 for the mods now.
?just get a Harrier? I think your final evaluation isn't quite fair, since you judged the xlongshot price with the hugely expensive sabre cnc metal bar; which doesn't affect the fps performance and is more of a vanity/clout piece. Leave that part off the list, and it becomes more compelling vs a Harrier.
Base blaster and FF upgrades: $97 usd Then you need a scar or bcar on top of that, and if you want it to feel anywhere close to a Worker Harrier, add about 6 tubes of epoxy putty and your time to mod it. I'd just get the Harrier.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT harrier is $190 usd. that's a significant margin over $97 usd. enough of gap that the xls has a place remember that not everyone can afford everything, and don't need it to 'feel' as good as a harrier.

@BradleyPhillipsYT thanks Brad, hope your doing well mate. Just curious what barrel would you recommend for adding fps and compatibility with bcars? I've seen people use almost everything from brass to anodized steel
@@MrFreefonix420 I'd go with aluminium these days. 13mm ID feeds much nicer than the tight brass we used to use which is more like 12.7mm
@BradleyPhillipsYT ah nice thanks for that information what length would you recommend for max fps boost and obviously to add the bcars too.

I have a question with the no ratcheting system does the blaster still lock forward when it gets primed
Nope, the LongXshot wont lock any more after removing the ratcheting piece.
This will allow it to double-load, but I'd personally heavily recommend against double-loading it. the FPS is destroyed and tend to jam the barrel which is an absolute pain to fix.

Love to see more, and i really want to see u using the full length darts to play!
Gross, why use full lengths
@@BradleyPhillipsYT From my own testing, the full length dart actually travel faster and further in the air,it has better range and has the same accuracy as the short dart, full length darts allows me to zero at the lower postion of the target, which makes long range sniping a lot easier.
@@FoamFlinger0523 from everyone else’s tests, full length darts are worse than short length in about every way
I was wondering what optic you use in all of your videos?
What issues have you seen people have with the XSL?
@@GucciBodyBagsBINGO. those are where it goes every time.
@marijunamissle the barrel is very nice, just too loose! A dart can fall right through. I love this blaster and id glady pay 50-60 for a revision thats slightly sturdier. But cant deny. The engineering is great.
8:25 SlamFire and Deprime aren't Mutually Exclusive
just pull the magazine so the chamber is empty, stick a finger over the barrel, and 'dry' fire.
now you're de-primed and didn't fire a dart.
works on anything slam-fire or not.
If you have a scar or bcar that would be the equivalent of dry firing
@@BradleyPhillipsYT Not really. You just need to add enough air resistance so that the plunger head doesn't damage itself on impact. Slow it down not stop it dead. This doesn't require a Perfect finger seal. Blocking off the main gas flow out the front of the scar is enough even if there are a few holes on the sides of a scar attachment (varies with design of course).
Hey Bradley,
While modding my XLongshot, I decided to remove all the teeth from the priming bar to get rid of the ratcheting sound.
But now, the trigger doesn't work unless I'm holding the priming handle in the forward position. Did you face this same issue with the Sabre bar? How did you fix it?
The breech has to be closed, but I didn't have to exactly hold it forward to fire
Ok.
I have been trying to get a metal ram for mine but it is always sold out
How to get into contact for a slynx commission build?
You might want to contact SL@KIMCHI on discord
I have mine hitting at 300 and it was so EASY!
I’d love to see how the harrier performs with the Sabre BCAR. Any chance you could test that?
I had the Harrier before that BCAR came out so never had a chance to test it. No longer have the Harrier.
Good to finally see your XLong my friend. Love it 🥰
Have you done a video on the dart zone pro mk4 yet?

It's so expensive to import for something that is basically an uglier Worker Swift
You can put a scar on a stock longshot, nexus style and it works well as long as you don't bump it aganst anything

Yes basic standard worker one, or a Worker SLA Printed Resin Scar Barrel Tube, not a bcar or anything fancy of course. Does improve accuracy in standard config. Basicly replaced the useless part x shot put in there@@BradleyPhillipsYT
Good to know
too bad I can't get it in Victoria, I really wanted on because of the cost but the 117 price tag kinda just defeats the purpose. like at this point I could probably get a seagull for a similar price from china

I may be a harrier fanboy kuz that's what I have(I also have an upgraded lonshot), but give the harrier a fair shake in these comparison vids!
The point was the Harrier with its stock plastic rifling was still better than the Longshot. Of course if you add any other rifling to the Harrier the difference increases even further.
the resin the fps is so low is because kids will try to dry fire it and do it over and over again and that is bad for the spring
My guess for the horrible deviation is the air seal

This sight is called a Holosun HS506. It was from Optics Planet though I think it's been superseded.
@@BradleyPhillipsYTwell thats not something i can afford lol
Hey, did you take out the "stopper" spring from the inside of the plunger tube? Have you replaced it with something? (I know, don't dry fire ;)
And OH MY WORD I was driven mad by this shooting at half speed every so often. I've disassembled and re-assembled it entirely over 20 times trying to find a flaw, leak, under-compression of the spring... and there was nothing. I came to think the barrel is kinked... apparently it only happens on red darts... - and this confirms this.
I think, as far as buying the xshot and modding vs just buying a harrier, at $35 dollars you're ready to play, and you can modify over time, so if a kid is using allowance or birthday money they don't have to drop it all right then
True, it does allow you to delay the upgrades. Though they could also just buy the Xshot Longshot, keep it stock, and save up for something better.

It's probably safe to skip the sabre metal bar
since this blaster puts is mainspring In FRONT of the plunger tube instead of behind, the plastic bar doesn't actually bear any spring loads; and thus doesn't need to be upgraded to metal.
Agreed, can get away with just the plunger tube and spring kit
@@BradleyPhillipsYTWhen that spring is on a stock prime bar, it wants to fold. Take the shell off and look at the internals without it, it flexes bad. What they really need is a metal plunger and turnaround, but prime bar i understand why they mad it, 9¼ inches on that zuru plastic is strenuous
@@rabidpichu7391starting to see comments of the stock bar or turnaround breaking from using such heavy springs. Perhaps the Sabre bar is needed even if it's not actually priming the spring.
I'm concerned about how long it will last with xshots track record 😂
At 300fps I think it is a matter of time until something breaks
Cheers!

I think your final evaluation isn't quite fair, since you judged the xlongshot price with the hugely expensive sabre cnc metal bar; which doesn't affect the fps performance and is more of a vanity/clout piece.
Leave that part off the list, and it becomes more compelling vs a Harrier.
