    This is a video to show you within only 6 minutes how to DJ mix using only your PC and without paying a penny for software, hardware or equipment. Surely, the techniques described here will be called blasphemy by many DJs but for those considering giving DJing a try, this will be a great way to get started and see where things go from there.
    This video breaks the DJing process into 9 steps, some of which are dirt simple:
    1. Install Virtual DJ
    2. Get 2 songs, preferably dance music songs that have the words "club mix" or "extended mix" in their names
    3. Launch Virtual DJ
    4. Load the 2 songs into Virtual DJ, one on each deck
    5. Press Synch on one of the 2 decks to get the 2 songs to be at same tempo
    6. Set Crossfader completely on the side of the deck you want to start playing first
    7. Play your first song
    8. When your first song has about 1 minute left and its beat marker at the top is at same location as the beat marker for your second song, play the second song and the immediately hit Synch. If you don't get the 2 markers in synch, you can press stop on your second song and try again until you get it.
    9. Move crossfader slowly towards the new song's deck.

    Thank you for this beginners tutorial on Virtual DJ. For those of us searching for mixers and wanting to get a feel of an application before we download it, this is a perfect video. Thank you MC Arabiani. I appreciate your effort and sharing this with the RUclips community.

    Honestly, the advice in this video is good. As stated before, it's for beginners. You don't have to do everything exactly the same way in this video. Play around with the software, learn what it can do. You can still create some pretty neat mixes even if you don't have an actual deck. Also, you don't always have to use crossfading to transition into the next track. Play around with the software, play around with your music, create your own technique.
    Best advice to learning how to use VDJ, play around, learn what you can do, and create your own style.

    9th Step: adjust your EQ along with the cross fader. The last thing you want are two competing baselines. Even with the sync feature, this could make for a pretty horrible mix. Of course, it's much less noticeable for house music.

    As a bass player from the 80's and 90's rock/pop/funk genre's I've always wondered how and what DJ's are actually doing. I've come to admire house/deep house music, a lot, and this simple tutorial answered real curiosity as to what is going on in the bigger picture technically/artistically/creatively .... thanks.

    Thanks for your tutorial man. I'm currently saving up for a deck and almost got the money.
    You tutorial is gonna be very helpful because this Saturday night I am going to DJ for a friend's party, and since I don't have my decks yet, i'll have to use only my computer.
    I was used to the MIXXX program, but VirtualDJ seems much much better.

    Awesome tutorial on how to blend tracks, but there is so much more to DJing! Song choice, presence, preparation, equipment, lighting, etc... For those watching this, this information is a big help, but do not attempt to go land a gig based off of this ;) Thanks for the vid!

      No. It is not. Even the BASS is not adjusted. I hate this youtube video.

    • @elhombre329
      @elhombre329 10 лет назад +1

      Per Andersen The bass isn't adjusted, he uses SYNC to match up the BPMs, and now people think they are a DJ because they follow these steps.

    • @dta1974
      @dta1974 10 лет назад +1

      elhombre329 I agree with you.
      SYNC is not always a 100% accurate besides that, the process of beatmatching is very cool and a skill. Little by little I am getting the hang of it. You can use the SYNC button but there is a whole lotttttt more.

    Top tip: if you want to play the song to the very end (which is a good idea if your mixing EDM songs) then you can hold on until about 15 seconds from the end and hit CTR+Page Up this will snap the cross fader from 0-100%. this works very nicely if you're mixing songs that have a very repetitive drum pattern

    Once you have followed all the steps above and have the second song playing (Inna - Amazing on the right deck, in this case) you can just load the new third song onto the left deck. Then repeat steps 5 to 9 to ultimately crossfade towards the left into the third song.

  • @legitrealghost

    here's a small tip for everybody: Before you move the crossfader and switch to the next song, take a look at the eq (bass, mid and high frequenzies). before switching to the next track take the bass of track that you hear out and than switch to the next track. Thats because the Kicks of the tracks somehow don't sound good together. You'll probably be able to find a reason for that on RUclips or Google but that's up to you.
