    Wish I could like this video a million times. Life saver and money saver. I was charged $150 at Blacks Tire for "Throttle body cleaning" because I brought it in for a P1101 code. Code came back days later. brought it back to Blacks and all they did was clear the code and told me to take it to the Dealership if the CEL and code came back on. The code came back on before I left their parking lot. I came across this video and as soon as my engine cooled off I followed the steps. After I removed my Throttle Body the front was clean but the backside was COVERED in Carbon build up....I cleaned it with Throttle body cleaner and a micro fiber towel and got it shiny again. I wish I could show you the before and after pictures I took. Bolted it back on and started up my engine, the CEL is no longer on! I didn't even have to reset it. Sincerely, THANK YOU Terrence. This video is by far the best P1101 fix I have found online.

    My 2017 Cruze gave code P0172. Secondary dtcs P0101 & p1101. The check engine light came up after I got my oil change and air filter replaced. I change the maf sensor and I still have the check engine light. I have about 91000 miles on the car.

    • @TerenceDIY
      @TerenceDIY  Год назад

      Hmmm... interesting. Let me explain, code P0172 arised after you had the oil change and air filter replaced. What instantly popped up in my mind was the air filter replacement. If that airduct around the air filter wasn't install correctly, it will cause the smallest leak vacuum leak and throw that P0172 code. To be sure I understand you correctly, the vehicle was fine prior to the oil change and air filter replacement?

    • @teasialee3712
      @teasialee3712 Год назад +1

      @@TerenceDIY Yes there was no check engine light. I just scheduled the oil change and I was told my filter was not clean so I have them the go ahead to replace it. After the oil change I took the car to the tire shop. I got four new tires and they fixed my back two shocks. When I got the car back I was told the check engine light was on when they took my car back.

    • @TerenceDIY
      @TerenceDIY  Год назад

      Smh. Sorry to hear that. I would start by visually checking around the air filter duct. If it weren't put back together correctly, it will cause a vacuum leak hence, throwing that code p0172.

      My air filter wasn’t snapped in correctly. So I spent money to fix the car when it was nothing wrong with it. Vavoline just placed the air filter in and it caused my car to throw a lot of codes. I had to get it towed to the dealership because the car wouldn’t move. 🤦🏾‍♀️

    I'm getting the P1101 code on my 2018 Chevy I have both a manufacturer warranty and an extended warranty and none will cover a throttle body if that's even a real issue I've also been told it could be the turbo going bad. The check engine light will come on often times it will not and I have lost acceleration on the highway it'll only go up to 68. The car only has 57,000 miles.

    • @TerenceDIY
      @TerenceDIY  2 года назад

      Hi Frank, she (the customer) was also told that it was a bad turbo possibly. I cannot see that turbo going bad at only 57k. If I were you, I'd just remove the throttle body (very easy) and clean it up. It will 9 times out of 10 fix the problem. Thank you very much for watching.

    I wonder if this would work for me? I have a 2018 LT. I had an oil change like a month & 1/5 ago & they recommended I change my air filter. Did. And shortly after my check engine Luther came on while in the highway. The P1101 is showing, but not all the time. Replaced the sensor with GM part few weeks ago. Now I’m noticing surging with the rpm’s & rough idling..no surges when idle though. has 94k miles. Hate to go to the dealership. This may be my last hope. Looks easy to do on my own. But sheesh! lol 😔
